am going to download Cyanogenmod but i need to know couple of things first
1 which should i go for Stable or release candidate : http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/I9300_Info
2 is CM an additional features or editions program to the stock ROM or a complicity full ROM ( cant really figure out this part )
3 is there a post updating the info about CM (plz post it)
4 what about common issues i'd face while installing it or its stable enough not to let me face any problem ( my first time installing custom roms)
5 what about this issue on the website " Can't view videos on video player nor on google photos. They can only be heard. " (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Known_Issues_page_for_i9300 )
6 can i use odin while flashing CM ?
can someone post me the link of custom roms of GT-i9300 ??
thanks so much

1. Download the stable build.
2. Its an entire rom. No rom is an additional feature to stock. Rom replaces stock.
3. Wat do u mean post updating abt cm? Changelog?
4. U can use the cyanogenmod installer to install the rom. Just do a nandroid back up first.
5. U cannot see videos on video player nor on google photos. There is only sound but no screen. Just use other video players on google play like VLC.
6. U can but u said its ur first time so i recommend u to use the cyanogenmod installer. Its safer for u.

you should really go through the stickies before flashing so you don't brick your phone! go through this link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1911726
and all your doubts are mentioned in one way or the other in the thread of temasek's cyanogenmod.

just flash a ROM like shostock that well change you're build.prop to an i9100. Or modify the build.prop.of the ROM you're flashing then flash it. I believe you can prevent it from checking.

Please reinstall Kernel or use an other Kernel. Status 7 Error comes most of the times from a bricked CWM. Dont worry this cant brick ur Phone completly. ^^

Difference is updated MIUI and always latest CM9 nightly. cMIUI do a great job.
I only started it to get more performance, stability and smoothness. I do my best to fix all problems. ^^
Nice work, I'm surely gonna try .
Status 7 error has nothing to do with kernel.
updater script is looking at build.prop for model #.
edit updater script check for build ID.
Something like that. Google it.

^^^ this. You can either do what Moto suggests, or if you're not technologically inclined, just flash any Rom based on an 9100 firmware like shostock 2 (now version 3) and then wipe and flash this. It'll update your build.prop to show i9100.

Well it appears to be a port(?) from the i9000 galaxy s, hence the i9000 in the kernel but that could be the issue right there. You need a vibrant kernel. Really the biggest question is how did you flash a ROM but don't know what it is? The name should be in the OP.
I recommend Hellybean.

OK you mean t959...... I am not sure which ROM you are using now but try and flash the ROM in the link, both links are the same I accidentally posted it twice. Be sure to read the op carefully and follow instructions. I am going to provide you with another link for Odin in case you run into trouble but you should be okay. Yes. I'm trying. i have no internet connection last one day and i am downloading my previous apps from play store. i accidently deleted all of my backups. Now i'm downloading AIO VIBRANT TOOLBOX. it's 200+ mb. but i don't understand the very first link (Hellybean 4.1 link). there is no specific download link of this ROM. By the way I will try another vibrant ROM by the second post's link.
Edit: Now.. Odin isn't recognizing my phone in my computer!!!!!!! I have installed exact driver. last time when i bricked my phone. it worked in my fried's PC. now i have to go there, because his PC loves my phone not my PC. i don''t know why this is happening !!!
When it rains, it pours. . You'll be okay. From the issues you are having when you get to your friends house, I would definitely Odin back to stock JFD and start fresh. You seem to have the wrong kernel for your device. So start over and you should be ok.
When you go to hellybean thread in the first post there is a link that will take you to Devil website. Hit the download link it will take you to rootax files. Locate the hellybean 20120813 allinone.zip. and hellybean add ons and DL.
After you go back to stock it is recommended to flash GB boot loaders. Next,(full wipe) Flash cm9 nightly, reboot and wait about 10-15mins to allow time for files to finish, then(full wipe again) flash the hellybean allinone.zip, reboot recovery, (no wipe)flash allinone.zip again (no wipe) flash add on zip, fix permission and reboot.
Give 15mins to let it settle then setup and enjoy.

The apps that are force closing, go to settings, apps or manage apps, forget which its called and the find the app in question. Force stop it and clear data. Should work after that.

Apparently the ROM has gapps baked in and the hellybean add on is for jb not ICS. You can try and manually remove but it would probably be best to reflash the ROM. (Full wipe)
If you want jb go to the hellybean link I gave you and follow op directions.

Yes i have downloaded the ROM you said. I will try this. Now i am using the SKANKY ROM. PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS.(BUT I AM NOT TIRED BECAUSE I WANT TO BE LIKE YOU, I AM LEARNING) NOW MY GALLERY, WINAMP, GOOGLE MUSIC CAN`T FIND THE SD CARD PICTURES AND MUSIC FILES. IF I OUT ALL FILES FROM SD CARD AND AGAIN INSERT THEM I THINK THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED. OTHERWISE ALL OF APPS ARE WORKING VERY SMOOTHLY.

Btw which TWRP do you use @xxaqib? I used to install t0lteskt which supposed corresponding to my E250K. unfortunately nandroid backup doens't work, restoring any backups (even w/o space in filename) will result in bootloop.
Would like to share a few findings after using WIDzard kernel for 3 days.
1. The kernel probably needs to flash with widzard recovery which is a mod of Philz 6.57.5. My first attempt with philz touch 6.48.4-t0lte caused a strange bootloop: samsung logo > recovery > samsung logo > recovery....
2. 8~10% performance gains compared to stock kernel. The benchmark was not made on the same ground though.
stock kernel - DN3 v5 : 18239 @antutu 4.5
Widzard kernel - MawrickROM : 20988 @antutu 4.5
3. By overclocking to 1.8GHz, the performance is very decent. Sorry Aututu auto updated to v5, so oc benchmark was made on v5...
To conclude, I found widzard kernel is very smooth and stable. I didn't got a glitch in the past few days. I recommend people give it a try to report back if any issues to the author:highfive:

Btw which TWRP do you use @xxaqib? I used to install t0lteskt which supposed corresponding to my E250K. unfortunately nandroid backup doens't work, restoring any backups (even w/o space in filename) will result in bootloop.

Yes my daily device is Z1. My wife uses Note2/E250 that's why I cannot mod it as easy as my Z1 - you know why! Everytime*before doing any mod to Note2*I need to do a quiet intensive research. I'm sure your thread will help a lot for those looking for resources. Note2 was a great phone but it needs a refreshment to make it still good in 2014!*

I9100 + PAC-man 4.4.4.RC-3 + gapps-kk-20140606-signed = no file upload
Hello all,
I recently revived my S2 and installed PAC-man RC3 on it. First with the modular-micro version of gapps, then with the gapps-kk-20140606-signed version. In both cases, I can not upload anything to anywhere using the build-in browser. Upon selecting a file for upload using a webform, I get the new file picker, and when I choose a picture for instance, the file name get's trunkated to: image%3A153
When the form is trying to process the selection, I get an error about image:153 not being in a valid format. This leads me to suspect that the %3A part in the filename is causing an issue.
I did not do anything else to my system, and formatted and whiped everything I could think of .. from dalvik cache to my internal and external SD. The phone was probably cleaner then I got it from the previous owner after I was done, yet, this issue remains. Am I goofing up something or is this a bug ? I can not find anything on 'PACman ROM rc3 can not upload files from phone' google searches, and adaptations on that phrase.
Any help or insight would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
Very Random reboots observed .

DO you have this problem in any rom other than PAC RC3 ? Because i dont think there is any problem of Uploading files in this rom i hv used this rom for a week it was quite good for me !!. Try to check first if this problem is with the your s2 or with the rom by flashing a new rom !!

Have not tried yet. But neither Imgur nor any of the forums I usually upload pics to, can handle what the filepicker puts in the webform .. so I'm quite sure the issue is with the filepicker. I can upload pictures using apps without problems (fb app, whatsapp, etc.) I will try another Rom and report back.

@Planet_Jeroen Ummm Try installing PA 4.6 Its the basic stock based 4.4.4 and see if you have the problem !! btw which kernel are you using presently ?? I would recommend you to use Dorimanx latest as its stable as of now if youre using any other than this !!
You could also try SLIM KAT 4.4.4 latest nightly over Gustavo kernel with full wipe and check if you have the problem.

As you are sure that this is a problem with filepicker and your inbuilt browser . confirm whether you can do the same in an external browser first like Chrome !!
Thanks, issue resolved!

I finally found the time to start flashing ... and am very f-ing glad I saw your comment before I did I just installed firefox, and there are no issues with the filepicker anymore. It seems the issue is with the build-in browser.
Thanks a ton for that suggestion, I do not really know why I did not try that already :/
Initially RC3 but have random soft reboots at screen transitions por at download images. Occasionally i lost data and voice but my status in the task bar appears fine.
Eventually flashed 22 Dec 2014 nightly and continue soft reboots & música bug, i lost the sound con música player. I found a kerne for AOSP or Cyanogenmod versións ¿Can i flash that kernel?
Thanks.

hi. just swapped to pacrom (4.3 build 1) i like it a lot. but i actually miss the soft keys. is there any way to turn them back on? i tried editing the build.prop to no avail
Great work
This ROM does not look bad! Imma try it for sure!
I have been happily plodding along on CheckROM RevoHD v6.0 (GB 2.3.6) ('member CheckROM? I 'member) with Dark Knight kernel v2.5.2 since around 2012 but several apps I use need updating and the newer versions won't work below v4. I've held out as long as possible. So, it's time to bite the bullet and get back into flashing.
I've had a bit of a browse here and I'm a bit confused. It looks like the version of CWM I have (not sure of exact version, whichever one was current in early 2012, I haven't booted into it for over 4 years) will not allow me to install a newer ROM from the last couple of Android releases. Is TWRP the newer recovery I need? I also see a lot of talk about flashing a PIT file to repartition the internal SD for a larger system partition. That seems like a grand idea. Tired of moving stuff around to get a new app installed!
In summary, I just need a few pointers and tips on what to do next to move my S2 from CheckROM RevoHD 6 to a newer ROM. I know you can't really ask "what's the best ROM?" here but what's the best ROM? Just kidding...but I would like something stable (no constant FCs/random reboots), easy-ish on the battery, no bloatware etc. If it looks purdy that's nice too. Drop a few names to check out.
I don't need to be hand-held step by step, maybe just link me threads to follow in the right order and I'll be off.
Thanks all.

Hi
What i would do:
- make a backup
- update cwm to cwm 6.0.4.7
- clean flash of cm11 20161119 i9100.zip by @zjq985062714 + pico open gapps together with isorec recovery 3.0.2-1.zip by @the.gangster.
So you will have a good working rom and the latest isorec twrp recovery.
Then you can increase system and data Partitions by using lanchon repit tool.
This is a zip-file in which you can fill in your desired size. Choose 1.0GB for system and 4.0GB For data.
Flash then this zip-file in twrp recovery.
Now you are able to flash any cm12/cm13 and even cm14 (or stay on cm11 for a try)‘
I just want to mention that i always started from JB and not from GB but you have a custom recovery.
2 excellent noob friendly guides by @Saber:
- how to incease system partition .....
- want to update to cm13 ....

Thanks for your thorough and informative reply TriboDoP, I appreciate it.
I will source out the rest of the files later but for now I tracked down CWM 6.0.4.7 for the I9100 here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...wm-clockworkmod-recovery-kit-kat-4-4-t2628412 The OP links are dead but a later post had a mirror. Is that the right file?

I understand, and thanks for the caution. Of course, nandroid backup will always be #1 on the to do list.
I do think i will need to do some more reading here to make sure I can achieve what I want the way I want.
If anybody reading has been through this (GB -->JB, KK or higher...I will not be bothered with ICS) please feel free to chime in with your experience.
