So the "string" is lying loose inside the phone? But... we can lift the phone up without it falling out. What is this wizardry?

The "string" that holds the port, is it loose inside the ZU so you only have to drag it out? If so, how can we life the entire ZU up by holding the port? I'm just curious.

Strange....
maybe its strange but i am happy that those flap covers can be replaced easily without taking the phone apart
There is a small barb on the end of the "string" that goes into the phone (a bit like a fish hook) which stops it from falling out in normal use.

Where to find the replacement part?
Sent from The Ultra™
Well, you could try your local Sony store.
Or there are plenty of them on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xxperia+ultra+cover+usb&_nkw=xperia+ultra+cover+usb&_sacat=0&_from=R40
can sony service centers could handle this part?
Mine got torn off.....the rubber part i mean so does sony warranty covers this part....and if not i dont mind paying all i want to know can this be fixed and is there parts on the market available for this charging cap part (im living in jeddah btw) (phone is just 1 month old)
you can buy from this link

Wow - £8.95 each plus £10 shipping for a 1cm long piece of plastic
They are only £6.49 (including free shipping) here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Sony-C6802-C6833-XL39h-C6843-Xperia-Z-Ultra-USB-door-Cover-/390703045270?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item5af7b75a96
Mag charger
I remember reading a warning of sorts somewhere (Maybe here on XDA) about the waterproofing integrity on these doors being compromised rather quickly from the normal daily opening and closing for charging, dust, etc. The article/post went on to describe how much better it would be to charge with the magnetic port...Faster charging, less wear and tear on the micro usb port and seals on the door etc. I was sold on that bit of info and even before I got my ZU I bought a few of those mag charging cables on ebay. Now I only need to open my micro USB door cover for OTG or MHL access, which honestly, I haven't needed to yet. All things considered I have a little more peace of mind that if I have any "Water" related accidents with my phone I'm not out $650.00 for one stupid little rubber seal.

Interestingly enough, I looked into that. The "rear flash pack" the guy is talking about doesnt exist. The static image at the beginning of the phone with the back off is PHOTOSHOPPED to show an LCD on there. Yay, he touched an app on the screen that "turned on the lcd"! I could disassemble an lcd flashlight and tape the contact point, battery and lcd to the back of my phone and duplicate this video. I could even put an icon on my desktop to press too, just to make it look nifty! Notice how nowhere in the video does he show the back of the phone ON video in good light.
Oh, and very interesting that people have been asking the guy for the link for his "rear flash pack" for almost a year and hes given 0 responses.
Theres no proof of concept there. You know how ridiculous a mod like that would be? Not only would you have to have the knowledge of the circuitboards to solder the lcd leads on, but you would also have to know android well enough to know how to activate those specific contact points. Hell, we cant even figure out how to crack the rogers coding yet, what makes you think that someone out there figured all this out?
EDIT: Heres proof:
This is the "picture" from said video.
Increase the image to biggest size and notice the following:
-The LCD holes arent round.
-The LCD holes are PIXELATED
-The LCD holes are drilled right through a flimsy metal clip under the battery door. Look at it on YOUR phone and tell me how thats possible without the clip breaking into pieces and falling off.
-the rim of the LCD holes has obviously had the burn tool in photoshop applied to it (notice how its darker around the edges than any other part of the phone.
Oh, and the coup de grace: THE PICTURE IS AN UNBOXING PHOTO FROM THE PHONE'S RELEASE LAST SEPTEMBER. You can see the G1 box and all of the box contents on the floor right under the phone!
Well.. that brings us back to square one, ill bust out my nikon as soon as I get my phone up and running again, ran into some minor (i mean major) technical difficulties.

Take a look like at this youtube video.
Looks like the battery is replaceable after all. You just need to unscrew the back and open up the phone. Good news for those who are worried about the battery wearing out after a while!

We have to bare in mind, that this may void the warranty. To do that, you are taking screws out. I obviously don't know, if they would find out about that, but there could be some sort of seals, you break.

Yes not need... I have GalaxyTab and I don't need to change battery for 36 month..
To be honest, the reason for a replaceable battery for me was always to carry a spare if I go away without access to a charger (camping/hiking etc). This doesn't really resolve that but still good to know in case the original develops a fault I suppose

Power monkeys are good ... combine the solar charger and a normal battery .. will get one soon !! ( my friend had one )
Well I think Sony installed a water proof seal or something in this phone and obviously it's gonna void the warranty.after my warranty I'm gonna change the battery too.. Too bad's it's a 1700mAh, thought that it's a 1750mAh and I saw it in gsmarena too.
"or smth" yea please go ahead and break open yer new xps lol ok
I do think Sony will know you have removed the cover and it may void the warranty. Is it not a good choice until the warranty is expired. Right?

Well I'm pretty sure Sony will tell you its a consumer part and will charge you for a replacement. There are some for sale, so you could just buy one.

At least you don't have to open any flaps or connect any wires.
What's the difference between placing your tablet on a "wireless" charging pad or in a cradle anyway?
A cradle looks much nicer and neater. Inductive charging wastes a part of the energy, generates more heat and is generally slower.

With wireless charger you may use any case, with dock only original one or of the same construction (type). Energy waste is not substantial in this case, a lot of people plug in tablet for a charge overnight, it doesn't matter that it will take 1 hour more, because you can partially compensate it by using more powerfull charger (e.g. from Ipad or samsung 2,1A work well) instead of original 1,5A which chargers forever even in craddle).

Just pop it right in. There's a fishhook kinda shape on the end of the "plastic thread" that's holding the flap, so just rip it off and insert a new one. It can be a little hard to push the new one in, but it's very easy and straight forward. You can try it yourself right now by pulling the USB flap off and inserting it again.
EDIT: Wait a minute. Fonjoy still have flaps left. 9 of them actually, and you can order it from their eBay page:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-S...ver-1272-47-/351296156319?hash=item51cae1f29f
I purchased my USB flap from them and it's legit stuff. It took about 7 days until it arrived, so overall a good experience, but seeing you're located in France, it'll probably be a little quicker. They're based in the UK.
I've glued mine back, but won't guarantee how efficient it is in terms of waterproof. Also it was rather tricky due to small size and being careful of not over doing the glue. I would suggest you to just buy a new flap.

Yeah, I wouldn't risk it for only £10 or so, and I wouldn't trust the glue to seal it properly.

Several times? What the... lol. Do you bathe with your phone or something, because the only reason why this would happen is that the glue on the rubber gasket wears off by moist/water.
Anyhow, it's still only £10, so I'm not sure I would even bother contacting Sony, but that's up to the OP to decide. Our work is done here
