I am rooted and s-off with the bulletproof kernel installed on the T-Mobile HTC One running rooted stock 4.3 Rom (Sense 5).No matter what options I try, I cannot get WiFi tether for root to work in AP/infrastructure mode. Ad-hoc mode works fine.
Has anyone been successful with this? If so, please tell me how.
I tether on stock app and the fix will require a hard reset or fresh flash.
HTC One
My stock tether works fine. Imntalking about using the app called WiFi tether for root.

May I ask why you want that if stock app is working?
So I don't hit my 2.5 gb limit.

PM me with the following information and I'll try to set you straight.
ROM
Radio version
Hboot version and whether it's reading S-on or S-off
Method used to root
My guess its that he installed a ROM that required different radios, and didn't install the radios.

I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted my HTC One but over time, it quits working. None of the apps can gain root and Koush's superuser states su needs to updated but can't gain root to do it.
A simple reboot fixes it. I'm still running the stock ROM with no need to switch.
Anyone else have this issue?

Hi there, I'm facing the same issue with my HTC One SV, it looses root and a reboot regains the root. Like you, I don't want to change my stock rom, but I'd like to have root access and remove the bloatware (again, which comes back after reboot). Any help is appreciated.

You might get a better response posting in the Galaxy Star Q&A Forum.
Hi all.
Running a SIM free international version.
In rooted my HTC one as I needed to install rSAP and a special Bluetooth stack to enable my phonebook to transfer to my Audi.
All is fine..
However, I'm now being presented with HTC updates which I can't seem to turn off, so my question is..
How do I update my phone?
Does anyone have any good videos to point me to also, can I reroot once updated?
Thanks..

You should not flash OTA updates on a rooted pho, you risk loosing root.
If you can download the update files you should be able to flash them in mobile odin pro without loosing root. Also someone might have made a zip file you can flash in recovery
Is there a noob "how to"anywhere please?

I was rooted and soff long ago and I currently have a cm 10.2 rom installed. I installed supersu from the playstore to use AV4 on a 4.3 rom and I didn't realize I would lose root.
I can still access bootloader and it says I'm soff. I've completely forgotten how to root again. I've looked at most of the root guides on different forums but I'm still at a loss.
Can anybody direct me on what I need to do please?

In 10.2 ( dastins ) superuser is located in the settings menu.
Reread the op, the instructions are there.

Ok thank you for your response hossman. The only thing I see regarding superuser I dastins OP is to toggle back and forth in the settings between apps and apps & adb. I'm not sure if that's what your referring to.
My issue is that when I try to access an app that needs root it tells me my phone is not rooted.
Perhaps you can elaborate for me just a little please. I've literally spent hours last night and today trying to figure out what I need to do. But I'm at a loss. Thank you

Maybe you need to reflash, superuser works out of the box when following the instructions given

Guess I needed to flash the supersu update zip and then flash a ROM. Voila. I searched so hard for such an easy fix. Thanks for your help hoss

Hey all. Finally decided to root my one. Does it make sense to wait for it's kitkat ota update and then root ? Would this change any of the steps in the root process?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
You should wait, if you root you can download a Rom that is 4.4.2. But things like WiFi calling doesn't work.
Go ahead and root. After a official 4.4.2 is released someone will put out a custom ROM that will already have root as well so why wait

Yes s-off that might be patched until a new exploit like gustav said and also imo a custom recovery to have some fun and trying out a few custom roms while you wait for an update just remember to use the update you need a locked bootloader and IIRC you need a stock recovery both not hard to get (someone plz correct me if im wrong about recovery)
Thanks guys I rooted but have been having trouble getting some tethering apps to work I think my kernel is write protected? Can anyone recommend a rom that has cool customization stuff and is also good with tethering?

Edit - I flashed insertcoin and the tethering works great.
