PM me with the following information and I'll try to set you straight.
ROM
Radio version
Hboot version and whether it's reading S-on or S-off
Method used to root
My guess its that he installed a ROM that required different radios, and didn't install the radios.

I currently have aria with 2.1 stock and I've rooted it using unrevoked.
phone details:
Liberty PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT 0.57.0000
radio 7.00.35.06
questions:
if I install the 2.2.2 update from HTC site, will it erase the "rooting"?
if yes, will I need to run alpharev after it for rooting?
Yes.
And yes.

thx and thx.
but it seems that the update from HTC site doesn't work on a rooted phone? maybe because of the clockworkmod recovery?

The 2.2.2 update gets rid of everything and changes the hboot. Then you need to do the alpharev thing.

It will work without any problem on a "rooted" phone. If you're having trouble, try toggling the "USB debugging" option in your ROM. If that doesn't help, try running the RUU while the phone is on the FASTBOOT screen.
using fastboot solved the problem.
I also coming to understand that using linux for any update is much more convenient.

I would star here as a reference point. This device is different to the 4g when it comes to all this stuff Start by unlocking your bootloader through htcdev and go from there.

Thanks for the help I want to know if there is a way for me to downgrade my hboot from 1.58 without re rooting my phone from what I have read is if I downgrade my hboot than I will be able to flash roms thanks for the help
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I believe uou first have to unlock your bootloader in order to be able to downgrade. And as far as being s-on you might not be able to flash many of tge available ROMS. Keep in mind that guide is for CDMA by the way

I think I'm cdma I'm on sprint that's cdma right?? Can I go to htcdev and unlock my boot loader using my phone or do I have to do it with a computer??

Here's a really good put together by ramjet works well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
I think I saw in one of the threads you are on cricket? If so your flash is safe using this guide
You need a computer to unlock bootloader. Go to htcdev.com and you follow the guide there then continue with the link i posted. You are CDMA by the way. Also look at the guide this other guy posted by ramjet.

Hi,
I installed Custom ROM with an idea that it will improve my phone performance but hell i am seeing sluggish performance in some of the basic phone functionalites like contact searching
I didnt back up my stock rom when i rooted the phone and hence i request you to please share me the WORKING link of HTC Legend Stock ROM (Doesnt matter what android version it has 2.1 or 2.2)
I am fine with it
Thank you in advance
If you want rooted stock then I suggest looking in the dev section there are lots of roms, try using blay0s froyo b0.8.4 it's basically stock with quite a few improvements.
If you want completely stock Rom and no more root goto
http://www.shipped-roms.com and download the correct region for your location they are windows exe files, all you need is USB drivers I believe, from memory HTC sync is all you need.

An important question, how did you root your phone, via htcdev boot unlock or other method?
If htcdev unlock, you will need to relock it or you will get error 155.

Dear all
I have international htc amaze, i desperately wanted to get it updated to official ICS for that i contacted htc Philippine, they regretted to give an update on Singapore origin phone.
finally thought of rooting it and to flash CM 10.1 on it, i got it rooted by Hanson 2000 root kit. but when i installed a ROM on it, it keeps on rebooting i had to change the ROM and get back to stock ROM which is GB 2.3. but i definitely want to try it.
my phone specs
using 4 ext recovery with smart flash enabled.
phone is s-on.
i haven't done super CID.
i am afraid of doing s-off because it may brick my phone and for super CID i have read full thread i did not get what super CID is and is it necessary to super CID.
it is not like i am new to rooting i have done rooting on Samsung phones and i must say they are and something goes wrong u can always use Odin to get an stock back.
HTC its horrible
please comment and help

If you want to flash a custom rom/custom recovery you can with S-ON. Unless you want to rebrand your phone or flash stock RUU/firmware of a lower version you don't need s-off. S-ON is security on and S-OFF is security off this is a mechanism to keep the user from flashing RUU/firmware that are not compatible with your phone. Check the OP of the rom that you want to flash and it will tell you what are the needed requirements. You will need to unlock your bootloader to flash a custom recovery/rom and to root.
Thanks. My phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked so I was wondering if I can flash a rom with s off

Read this from the Viper site! As I said before you need to read the OP for their instructions and requirements.
I was using ViperOne 6.2 with S-On, it was not until I went to 7.0.1 I had to s-off to update ruu and firmware. So, you really should study up on what the requirements of your device are. Shortly, S-Off is not "Required" only recommended.
