Hi,
I installed Custom ROM with an idea that it will improve my phone performance but hell i am seeing sluggish performance in some of the basic phone functionalites like contact searching
I didnt back up my stock rom when i rooted the phone and hence i request you to please share me the WORKING link of HTC Legend Stock ROM (Doesnt matter what android version it has 2.1 or 2.2)
I am fine with it
Thank you in advance
If you want rooted stock then I suggest looking in the dev section there are lots of roms, try using blay0s froyo b0.8.4 it's basically stock with quite a few improvements.
If you want completely stock Rom and no more root goto
http://www.shipped-roms.com and download the correct region for your location they are windows exe files, all you need is USB drivers I believe, from memory HTC sync is all you need.

An important question, how did you root your phone, via htcdev boot unlock or other method?
If htcdev unlock, you will need to relock it or you will get error 155.

PM me with the following information and I'll try to set you straight.
ROM
Radio version
Hboot version and whether it's reading S-on or S-off
Method used to root
My guess its that he installed a ROM that required different radios, and didn't install the radios.

Hi I'm rlly new to android... Just switched from iPhone to htc desire x 2 days ago. Anyway, I iv been doing my research and had a few questions-
If I flash a custom rom, how do I go back to factory settings and stock rom?
If I get a custom recovery like clockworkmod, how do I get my stock recovery back-is it just reflashing the ruu?
How do I unlock the bootloader without htc dev, I don't want to void my warranty
How do I take a backup of my stock rom? - if I mess up then how do I use the backup to restore to factory settings?

To install a custom recovery you need to unlock the bootloader on your phone. Once unlocked it can only be relocked with a sign 'RELOCKED' on top of bootloder. Plus HTC has records about users that requested unlock code for their devices. However unlocking of bootloder doesn't deny your warranty but HTC can always claim that malfunction came as a result of your usage.
It's easy to unlock bootloader kust follow the steps on htcdev.com.
To fully return back to stock you just need to flash RUU (Rom Update Utility) that can be obtained here on forum.
You can make a backup of stock rom from custom recovery you flash after unlocking.
Thx for the info, was quite useful, was wondering if there is a official version of cwm for desire x?

I followed Step 3 on these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426377 and managed to get root after running Clockworkmod on the SuperSU.zip file that was dropped in from the RecoveryInstallerForNoobs.zip file.

Go to Cyanogen Mod official website ... You can get a whole lot information there... !!! its is the only rom which is providing jellybean 4.1.2 on AMAZE 4g
Please read the "pinned" threads located at the top of the various forums. All of the info you seek is located there. The brief reader's digest version is as follows: You need to download and have a working adb setup. You also need some drivers from the HTC website. While there you need to register as a developer and follow the instructions. If followed correctly they'll give you a binary blob that you need to push to your phone from windows to unlock your bootloader. You'll still be s-on but unlocked. Then depending on which version of the amaze you have and which version of android is currently running on it there are different procedures for attaining s-off, which is a requirement if using a non-T-Mobile US device. After you've gotten those things in order you can begin flashing.
None of this is difficult, but it does require reading on your part, and nobody here is going to hold your hand, especially if they see you haven't made any effort by at least reading the instruction threads.
Just flash the SuperSU.zip file via recovery. For some customs roms, you won't need to root your phone before flashing, your phone will automatically get root access one you flash them. All you will need is having a custom recovery .

Actually you're not quite on point. Without unlocking your bootloader you can't flash a recovery and smartflash on 4ext doesn't work properly without a working busybox and superuser. So after unlocking and flashing or pushing a superuser apk you need to also install busybox too or smartflash can't write to the protected partitions.
I think everyone knows they cannot flash a custom recovery without unlocking the bootloader first.

LOL you'd be surprised what kind of questions get asked here and how often the same ones are repeated, especially in this forum where newbies can post until eligible for the other forums. Look and see how many threads and individual posts are here, the vast majority are the same basic questions asked over and over by those who've never bothered to read the information posts pinned to top of each forum.
You are right.

You can't s~off the amaze with a tool kit, you have to use the wire trick using the joupunut bear program. No other way around it, check YouTube you'll find a video tutorial

If you want to flash a custom rom/custom recovery you can with S-ON. Unless you want to rebrand your phone or flash stock RUU/firmware of a lower version you don't need s-off. S-ON is security on and S-OFF is security off this is a mechanism to keep the user from flashing RUU/firmware that are not compatible with your phone. Check the OP of the rom that you want to flash and it will tell you what are the needed requirements. You will need to unlock your bootloader to flash a custom recovery/rom and to root.
Thanks. My phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked so I was wondering if I can flash a rom with s off

Read this from the Viper site! As I said before you need to read the OP for their instructions and requirements.
I was using ViperOne 6.2 with S-On, it was not until I went to 7.0.1 I had to s-off to update ruu and firmware. So, you really should study up on what the requirements of your device are. Shortly, S-Off is not "Required" only recommended.
