Themer Suggestions - Themer General Discussion

I just setup themer and started playing with themes and minor customizations of exiting themes.
I'd like to second the request/suggestion the theme elements should be scaled to % of height/Width and not actual pixels. I rescaled my DPI to 220 and then had to reposition and resize most elements.
A native widget for SMS messages, not just unread count would be nice
Unread email not via gmail app would be nice.
A widget for "power control" and other indicators would be nice, although Beautiful Widgets works quite well.
An "UNDO" would be outstanding... I've had many objects just "vanish" while trying to grab or move.
Tasker integration would be awesome for the creation of widgets as indicators and such

Thanks for your feedback! We are planning on adding in most of these elements, but with our team being quite small, it's not that easy. Zooper integration is coming soon, so is that UNDO button. The hardest one might be the DPI issue, but we're working on it.

Oh...
"Save changes" function exiting a page
"Enable or disable" a page entirely
Reorder pages
a page count widget (if there are 4 pages, the widget will have 4 dots with the active page element highlighted in some fashion)
A "global" widget. Configure it once and every instance It would be identically configured.
Theme global settings: This font, this size, this background color. Sort of like a theme template.
Group/Ungroup elements.
Copy/paste of a element.

How about a public location for "approved" themers to upload to that can be browsed by the app.
"Caution, these themes are by 3rd parties and are not supported or endorsed by Themer. Viewer Discretion is advised"

All we can say is - soon. There are still a few bugs here and there.

(looking for) Transparent Calendar Widget

Hi, I'm looking for something pretty much exactly like minimal reader pro but for a calendar, it has to be scrollable and completely transparent with white text,
any suggestions? and thanks in advance
Android Agenda Widget is scrollable and can be configured to do exactly what you seem to be describing.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.roflharrison.agenda&hl=en
Android Pro Widgets - https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZHIud2lkZ2V0cy5jb3JlIl0. = allows you to select 100% transparency in some of the themes. Its a paid app but in addition to a Calendar Widget (which also provides an agenda view) it also provides widgets for Facebook, Twitter, and Messaging. For at least one of the themes there is a slight bug which results in a slightly darkened header on the Agenda view for the calendar but the bug is supposed to be fixed in an update.
Oh and the Icon for the app blows big time Doesn't bother me too much but for some I know its a concern.
Try Simple Calendar Widget. I love the looks of it and it meets most of your requirements. I only wish the dev would make Google Task widget as well!
Pure grid calendar widget has several skins and is awesome.

Minimalistic Text Integration?

I was wondering if i use minimalistic text as a buttons, can i export the theme and preserve the icons i use in it. I can photoshop the text and make em bitmaps but when i put it as icon on app it is really small, and looks awefool. My theme requares to be able to resize this icon. How can i manage that to work.
Thanks in advance.
You need to use the themer everything widget and set pictures and create hotspots rather than trying to use app icons because those are restricted and will scale down to the default size that your screen resolution will use.

Hi Oxgroth,
Unfortunately Minimalistic Text isn't supported as a 'exportable' widget, only Themer's built in Everything Widget, RSS reader, etc. will work (and Zooper Widget soon).
SchmilK is right in saying the Everything Widget can be used. It's also a lot more user friendly
Thank you very much. I`ll test out Everything widget, i hope i can use the custom fonts for text buttons.

[Q] Zooper Widget pro in Themer not working

I'm using themer with my Nexus 5 and, when making thing within the "zooper themer" no problem.
When I try to add anything with Zooper Pro and save it, once i recall from the Themer browser the widget made with Zooper Pro are gone. I mean, they are there but blank.
May be I'm doing something wrong.
Any suggestons? Thx

Hi,
It's better to stick to using Themer Zooper widget when you want to reload a saved theme, as it's designed to reload correctly.
Is this what you mean?

So I have to assume that, if I want to design something in Themer, save it and later reload it, I have to use exclusively the Themer Zooper widget?
Indeed I tried with Zooper widget Pro as well as UCCW and the result is the same: once I reload my theme previously saved these widgets are reloaded blanks.
If so, this is a limit since there are a lot of nice widgets for ZW Pro and cannot be used with Themer (that is more simple and flexible vs other launchers IMHO).

Hi,
You saving the themes correctly right? As in going into the advanced settings - Export Theme. Sometimes a Zooper Widget Pro template will work, but essentially only Themer's built-in widgets will remain and function correctly (Themer RSS, Themer Dialer, Everything Widget, Themer Zooper Widget, etc.).
The good part is the Themer Zooper Widget and Zooper Widget Pro share the same template directory. This means if you save a theme in ZW Pro, even if you save a theme that comes from from the Play Store, it will show up in Themer Zooper's saved templates

Thx for the reply. You are right. It seems working perfeclty w built-in widgets only. The themes are saved correctly.
As far as the good part concerns: yes, they share the same directory but, you cant load a ZWP in Themer. Despite the composition of the widget has the same structure(text, bitmaps and so on) for same reason they dont load correctly. The same behaviour applies to UCCW.
I'll wait for a Themer w a ZWPro extension...
good

Would you mind letting me know which calendar widget you are using?
Is it a Zooper built calendar or the Themer Calendar Widget?

Im not real sure what theme you are talking about. There are not pre-loaded themes in Themer, it has always been a tutorial theme of sorts that is preloaded.
Do me a favor, long press on the homescreen (anywhere blank) when the long press menu shows up, choose "browse themes".
Now in this window choose, "My Themes", then "Downloaded.
You should now see a list of the themes you have downloaded. Tell me the name of the theme you are running so I can see what calendar it uses.
Thanks.

This is technically possible.
This calendar is created with Zooper. There is an option in Zooper for setting the color code to the color assigned in the Google Calendar.
The code is #C0COLOR#, this variable will render or output an actual RGB color code for what ever color is assigned to that event in your Google Calendar.
So you have this variable, and I am sure you are wondering WTH you would do with it.
We assuming that the text in that calendar is RichText and not regular text you can assign a BBCODE around the Event variable that changes its color.
Lets say its the event title for the first event, #C0TITLE#. If you want this to be the correct color that is assigned to it you would change it to the following. [c#C0COLOR#]#C0TITLE#[/c]
If it were for the second event it would be as follows.
[c#C1COLOR#]#C1TITLE#[/c]
All in all you CAN do this. It just matters if you want to take the time to change it yourself, getting your hands dirty with a little light coding.
Hope this helps.

Copy homescreen layouts

How can I copy my homescreen icons/layout from Apex to Themer?
What I want is:
1) Copy the homescreen grid shortcut items, folders, widgets.
2) Copy the grid layout, so if it's 7x7 in Apex, it will be 7x7 in Themer.
If I could do this just once that would be great.
If I could add a shortcut to copy them over whenever, that would be better.
If I could mirror, so anything deleted, moved, or added on one would be done to the other....

Hi,
You can change the grid layout in Themer by long pressing on the homescreen - Advanced - More - Desktop - Desktop Grid Size.

Is there any way to copy over the icons and wigits / folders? Maybe an app does it? I've looked at a bunch, I'm guessing it's not developed.

We don't think an app will do this, but copying your icons and widgets manually won't take too long You can then save your layout so you'll never lose it

I've been testing apps and launchers, done a lot of reconfiguring.
Many of the features of a Launcher are also available as separate apps, so it seems the most important is stability, special features, active development. Right now Themer has no search in app manager (which is being redone) but there are a bunch of app manager apps to use instead, none that I'm happy with so far, but the only way to find the perfect setup is to do a lot of reading and testing. So, the app manager that ships with a launcher could be a selling feature, but is not a reason to not go with a launcher.
Unfortunately, few devs code for one-hand use with a dark background / light text in all apps. Most apps have the toolbar on top and the keyboard on bottom, makes no sense to me, everything should be where the user has his finger most.
