[Q] How do I know what stock rom I had?

Sorry if this is an obvious subject, but I'm kind of in doubt.
I was wondering how I could check what the stock firmware was that came with the phone. I'd like to re-flash it back to stock so I could get the stock updates again.
Right now when I enter *#1234# it says;
PDA: I9100XXKH3
PHONE: I9100XXKH3
CSC: I9100OXAKH3
Build Info: Fri Aug 12 11:20:51 KST 2011
Is the "KH3" part also the stock version? Because that's the version of the custom ROM I flashed.
What region are you in? Did you buy it of a specific carrier?

Look for KPN in first post and flash one of those.
Thanks a lot, I didn't find that post yet! And if I reset the custom binary count with a jig it'll be under warranty again after this flash right?
Stock rom no root and custom rom counter zero = Samsung Warranty valid .

Is this update?
Skickat från min GT-I9300 via Tapatalk 2
meant to say.... is this up to date? as the phone has been unlocked i am unsure How i will recieve updates.
What do you mean is it up to date ??
What does KIES say ???
Ask 3 UK what their latest firmware is ..
You are dependent upon your vendor to push out the updates
Or are you asking is what is the last released firmware that may not be for your phone ??
LG8 LG9 some countries only LH1 some countries only modem only update .
You could join XDA Developers and flash whatever you want .
jje
KIES says it is uptodate. ut i see there are more recent ones on xda.
This phone was bought via ebay as unlocked, i am using a t mobile sim , I have no idea if i should expect t mobile/samsung or three.co.uk (who the phone is from originally) to update any firmware. I am not keen on rooting and flashing as everything is working and i am more concerned about a reliable device. I guess there are differences if done OTA or via USB/Kies ?

Yes but not for your phone but they will work on your phone .
This phone was bought via ebay as unlocked, i am using a t mobile sim , I have no idea if i should expect t mobile/samsung or three.co.uk (who the phone is from originally) to update any firmware.
The original seller 3UK is your update souirce ..
I am not keen on rooting
But a stock rom does not require rooting its a standard Samsung rom
and flashing as everything is working and i am more concerned about a reliable device. I guess there are differences if done OTA or via USB/Kies
OTA is usually a smaller patched firmware Kies would be a full rewrite .
But thats guesswork not seen Kies or OTA on my phones for years .
99% of XDA involves rooting or flashing as that's why we exist .

however now using Kies it says your device does not support software upgrading via vies. I guess i may get OTA ones.
If Kies says this, your phone isnt on the software version it shipped with.
is that a problem ?, i guess it is because i flashed the above ?

[Q] SGS3 JB I9300XXDLIB - Touchwiz error

Hi! So last August 29 I've upgraded my SGS3 to the official jellybean os for the international version which is the I9300XXDLIB.
Everything is going fine until i've noticed that when I delete a homescreen the touchwiz hangs and crashes and alerts that the touchwiz error has stoped.
I've tried:
1. clearing the tw data
2. restoring to factory settings.
Neither worked.
I've googled this and i've tried all the solutions but i cant find any solutions to work.
thanks and regards to all of you!
Me too.

No its Polish version only .
Try reinstall the firmware after a wipe or wait for your phones JB release .

[Q] Which rom can I use to root my GTi9300?

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GTi9300 and would like to root it (don't we all)
I just looked up the Baseband and Build number and found that it is using a Brazilian ROM, most odd since I bought this as sim free and unlocked from Amazon UK
The Baseband version is I9300UBELL1
The Kernel version is 3.31-789635
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 4 19:59:29 KST
2013
The Build number is
JZO54K.I9300UBEMA1
My question is can I use a BTU rooted rom GT-I9300-BTU-I9300XXEMC2 to replace the Brazilian one I have?
Will this work on my phone or do I have to download and install the rooted brazilian version of this rom?
Cheers
Basically all ROM out there is universal to galaxy s III unless the DEVer says it otherwise.
Just be careful with all those variants as American / Canadian S3, S3 international, S3 LTE. etc.
But in this case we are talking about International version which is GT-i9300
And actually, root it means put su binary and superuser control apps into system, it is not ROM related.

As long as the ROM is for the I9300/I9300T version of the SIII and you got an I9300/I9300T you can flash them, independent from which country they are. The only thing you might want to look at, if the ROM comes with a baseband from another country, is to maybe flash a baseband of your region (in case reception gets worse).
Read the FAQ for guides on how to flash, root, unroot etc.
And what is your point.? If your phone is working properly you dont have to care where your rom is.
Elsewhere to root you have guides on xda. And root has nothing to do directly with your problem you can flash à stock rom And modem with odin.

The phone works fine I was just concerned that OTA updates would be for Brazil and not UK so figured I would put correct version of rom on my phone, I already downloaded I9300XXEMC2_BTU_i9300 from sam mobile.
Still find it odd tham Amazon.co.uk are selling the phones with non UK rom but it seems this doesn't matter
Thanks for help anyway, I am going to investigate other options mentioned in this post :fingers-crossed:

I wasn't sure if updates etc would work properly on OTA as I have a Brazilian rom
I had an S1 before this and only had phone a few days, my S1 was flashed with a custom rom, but baseband was always the same.
I want to root this so I can get native emocions by dropping the fonts in the relevant directory and also so I have a wider choice of what I want to run in the future regarding custom roms

The baseband is to do with csc?
Am I able to backup my curent rom and settings in unrooted form?

Baseband and CSC are two different things, don't worry about the CSC too much as said earlier, you only need to if you want OTA updates when unrooted . Baseband = modem.

Usually all basebands are compatible with every rom (as long as you choose the correct android version). Hence just try and see if you reception is ok, otherwise flash a different one, there is a thread on the general section for that.

Thanks man , so do u have any suggestions ? And any idea why I'm getting these issues ??
Never tick the re-partition option, it can brick your phone.
For your issues I would first recommend a factory reset from inside rom - settings, accounts. This will format internal sd card so backup your data to external sd.
If still the same then download the full GML2 rom from sammobile, check md5 then flash using odin. Follow the instructions in the official rom thread (general forum) exactly.
In each case test before you restore/install any apps or mods.
