[Q] Help with bootloader uncloking and CWM Recovery (p760) - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hello. I'm newbie here, just trying to get some help. First of all in order to install CM or any other custom ROM my bootloader needs to be unlocked + CWM recovery installed. I read many guides how to do that using "ROM toolkit", "LG Optimus L9 - ToolKit" using step by step instructions, but at the end of the day those tools just reboots my phone normally and that's it. I spend almost 5 hours and still no luck :/ i hope you guys direct me to the right direction. Sorry if i duplicating threads.
My Firmware specs:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: L620_MODEM_SIC_01.1230.00
Kernel version: 3.0.31
Build number: JZO54K
Software version: P76020h-EUR-XX

Do it at your own risk. I bricked a T-Mobile version of the original Galaxy S because the manufacturer changed certain settings that made the phone I was using a work slightly differently than phones people were rooting at that time. It was documented at the time on some S related wiki on rooting the device, but I can't find it now. Perhaps the community worked around it at some later point.
If you are new to this stuff, in my opinion best thing to begin with is Cyanogenmod(.com). Find CM7.1 there for your device, the wiki will explain the process. Very little chance of getting a problem and if it happens, the community can sure help you out.

But of course: everything at your own risk..

Thank you. I'm afraid not to brick my phone, so link provided would fit my Android version and stuff?

Yes its safe and works in all stock ics roms. But you need micro sdcard for it. And the temp cwm you will get is touch version.
By the way the link to CF-Root post is:

But plz make sure you read all of the instructions properly in order to avoid problems.

Rooting / OS Version Questions

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 I-9100M originally purchased from Bell. I rooted the phone using Odin. That was my first time rooting and I must admit, I kind of took blind faith in the instructions without actually taking the time to understand what's going on. In any case, everything has been working fine (except the GPS lock takes forever).
However, I would really like to see some improvements in battery life... and I heard that Gingerbread v2.3.6 has improvements from previous versions. I don't want to go to ICS because I've heard it's slow, etc. Below are the details from my phone:
Android version: 2.3.3
Basebad version: I9100MUGKG2
Kernel version: [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
Can anyone help me understand the above? Since the kernel version says 2.6.3, does that mean I am already on it? Eventhough the OS version says 2.3.3? Sorry if that's a totally ignorant question...

[Q] sgs2 - can't get root with cwm - newbie

Hello people
It's my first post here
I'm trying to get my sgs2 rooted.
I've been searching around forums quite a bit, but quickly got confused since I don't know what ROM I have, nor what brand is my phone (canadian, at&t, south african or whatever).
After looking around a bit I found out that I have an insane chip using the "eMMC Brickbug Check' app, which led me to find that the safest way to get root which is using the CWM from recovery mode without flashing kernel.
I tried it but when I get to clockwork mod everything gets stuck and the message "cant open /cache/recovery/log" pops all the time.
So I'm kind of stuck here, any help would be kindly appreciated.
My device info:
Model: GT-i9100
Android Version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 3/0/15-i9100XXLPQ-CL223505 [email protected] #3
Build number: IML74K.XXLPQ
