HELP!! DNA back to stock - HTC Droid DNA

So my dna is s-off and rooted via moonshine (purchased used already like this)
Twrp recovery is installed and the ota is failing!!
I have searched for hours on how to return back to stock and find great info and I still don't understand it (obviously a newb)..
One thing I have installed on my windows 7 pc is the dna toolkit (will this get me back to stock?).
Can anyone point me to the most basic route to achieve this?
My wife thinks I'm crazy with the amount of time I have invested in trying to resolve this issue
Thanks, Matt

This may be a whole lot quicker of a resolution...
But you need a completely stock rom and recovery to take an OTA.
An OTA will not apply in a custom recovery.
None of the stock roms previously posted were clean enugh to accept the OTA that I could find.
So you would either have to use the decrypted RUU, take 5 OTA's and eventually get where you are going.
Or use the link I provided which is a clean enough base that it will allow OTA's to flash if desired in the future.(with stock recovery loaded)

I am a brand new DNA owner and not on Verizon so I can't get the OTA update. I plan to use it on ST via GSM. May I install your Rom above on a completely stock device that does not appear to be unlocked, s-off or rooted? And how would I go about doing that?
Version 4.1.1
Software number: 2.06.605.1 710RD
Kernel version:

It may have been rooted at one time but I'm not sure since I bought it used. Thanks for any guidance on this.

Thanks. I just checked with Root Checker and I do not have root. So will Santod's rom provide root or is that a prerequisite to installing the rom?

You have to have recovery installed so you can flash his rom, so yes, you need to root it first, use moonshine method, then install on your phone something like flash img gui or even twrp, then get the twrp img. and flash it to your phone. After twrp is installed(after reboot into normal phone) you can download his rom to your phone and flash it using twrp again, it'll reboot into recovery automatically and install the rom .

Back to GB from ICS Leak?

Hello all,
I'm a bit new with the Rezound, I was pretty experienced with the DInc2 and DInc before it, but I'm wondering something, I've looked around a bit, so apologies if I missed a thread, but I haven't found a straight up direct answer.
I have the latest ICS leak installed on my phone, I haven't rooted or s-off'd the phone just yet.... so what I need to know is:
1. Do I need to be S-OFF to flash the GB RUU so I can get the OTA when it releases?
OR
2. Will the phone still pick up the OTA with the leaked version of ICS since the leak is still an "official" build etc.
Hello, i'm also looking for same info, only i'm like a super noobie, I have an RUU, INSTALLED the HTC sync, which failed saying "waiting for boot loader" and that's all she wrote. So I think I need to do something to the boot loader, only what i'm not too sure.
Thanks.

Good question, not new to htc, I came from the tbolt, but if I run the latest ruu as a .img file through hboot, how would I get back to the stock gb rom that's currently on my rez, or will I be able to accept the ota while on the leak?
from my knowledge you will be able to ota to the release as long as it is a higher version that what the current leak is.
and if that fails you could s-off then gb ruu and then ota up.
I would like to go back to a nandroid backup of GB ROM that I had before I updated my firmware to the latest ICS leak. I can get it to restore & boot up, but I have no access to my sd card, so I have none of my apps. I feel like I've tried everything - nandroid helper, old firmware fix - but I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions?
In my trials to go back to a ginger bread RUU based firm ware, the process gets stuck at waiting on the boot loader, the phone is apparently not recognized. It is also not seen by the HTC sync.
the boot loader has been locked I don't know what to do next. It doesn't appear I can flash anything from fast boot menu.
Thanks for reading this far.

Hello and thanks for your time looking into this.
I am on ICS Leak - and need to go back to GB - the thing is good but the battery is atrocious and it heats like anything.
So I went ahead and put the thing in boot loader and then ran the RUU after exiting the HTC sync. Now I am getting Error 140 - Boot loader version Error.
Ah the pain this phone is causing
I have one more question: Do I have to do this every time I want to go back to a previous backup (one that I did prior to updating to the ICS firmware)? If so, I'm wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to go back to GB firmware......
Ver Change for Error 140 - Android SDK CMD???
According to my research - I need to down the version using hex editor via ADB Shell. Dear God !
I have tried / installed SDK/ and Java Dev Kit. No Go - is there an app I can do this on the phone itself?
Thanks

You will need s-off to revert but as of hboot 2.25 it doesnt accept flashboot commands. Kinda stuck til a patched hboot gets released if you took the 5/7 leak.

Thanks for looking into this - so my option is to wait for a patched hboot 2.25 or wait for another RUU with an Hboot higher than 2.25.
I was wondering if I could install CWM recovery - and just flash myself an GB ROM. My issues with this ROM are overheating and battery chomping. I wonder if that will be helped with a GB ROM - supposedly more mature and efficient. If this can be done can you point me to a thread?

HTC One ROM deodexed

I have a question, if I download ARHD's deodexed version of the stock HTC One, will I be able to do OTA updates that HTC releases or not?
No. And every time I answer this question I wonder why that matters. As soon as there's a new ota someone builds a stock rooted rom you can flash.

thank you gunnyman. one more question, what are the advantages and disadvantages of ARHD vs ARHD deodexed version? I'm a noob and I am just trying to learn these stuff
Odexed roms are usually slightly faster but can't be easily themed. On the One the difference in speed is not noticeable. IMHO

I often wonder why people take the time to unlock the bootloader and root phones then all the sudden are concerned about a OTA that will most certainly often reverse the procedure you just took time to do.

Before I got hooked on ARHD, I rooted my One and stayed on stock rom for the following reasons.
1, rid of ATT bloatware
2. long press back buttom fix the 3 dot stripe issues
3. accessing tethering abilities

Gunnyman what if I just unlock the bootloader and did not touch anything else like rooting and flashing a custom recovery in such status will my machine be able to get OTA updates then?
Or once bootloader unlocked it changes the OTA allowance?
No I don't think so. Ota requires stock in every way.

I'm sure there are a lot of people like me who aren't used to this locked bootloader thing. In the past three years all I needed to do to root my phone is to run Superoneclick or some similar toolkit, and I was done. OTA update was never a problem, and if I did lose root after an update (sometimes it sticks), I just ran the toolkit again, or maybe I could try keeping it with rootkeeper beforehand. No problem. I rarely bothered with custom ROMs. Sometimes I flashed custom recovery, mostly to make a nandroid backup, but most of the time I ran stock + rooted without any other modifications.
As it turns out, with the HTC One I need to change this type of mindset, as rooting involves unlocking the bootloader *and* flashing custom recovery, which means I wouldn't be able to get OTA update right away.

[Q] Running .10 rooted with custom recovery, how do I get .12?

Hello, Im pretty new when it comes to rooting/custom recoveries on Android. Today I got the notification that AT&T had a software update so naturally I grabbed it. I re-booted the phone but loaded into TWRP and the update didn't take. I researched a little and came to find out that you can't do OTA updates if you're running custom recoveries. My question now is what's the best way for me to get it? Im running the stock rom from HTC, I'm just rooted and have no desire to run any custom roms at this time (Such as Cyanogen or the like). I've looked around and seen a few .12 custom stock roms, but I've also seen the leaked .ruu file. Not sure how to proceed in terms of getting the update installed. All I really want it is the updated firmware along with my current root access. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am pretty noobish when it comes to this.
Best way is if you are stock rooted now is to flash the stock . 12 rooted that scrosler posted. You can flash without wiping if you want

No it's not hard at all, but as I said I'm not looking for any custom roms..simply wanted to remain stock with the latest firmware upgrade. Not sure if the the leaked .ruu that came out a week or so ago would accomplish this or not.

why? the space it will take up on the phone will be the same.
Update OTA's aren't structured like rom's that are packaged for custom recoveries.
Update OTA's also check to make sure the necessary parts are already on the phone so they only update the changed files. If you have altered your device in any way, the OTA will fail. This is a good thing. Less support calls from users whose updates fail.

[Q] Bootloader Unlocked, but have problems

Hi. I'm new to the HTC One family. I bought a used rooted unit on Swappa and flashed the Google Play Edition on the phone, which was great, until I installed an over-the-air update, which was unavoidable. I'm now running Android 4.3 Build # JWR66v.H10. When I go to Bootloader mode, it says the phone is unlocked and tampered. When I go to use superuser it tells me the phone is not rooted.
How do I get the bootloader to not be tampered? Do I need that to be fixed to root again? How do I re-root? I'd like to not receive these OTA updates as well, to avoid problems in the future.
All help and suggestions are appreciated!
just reflash SuperSU for your device and you should be rooted again, for the tampered i believe you have to flash the RUU to get that back to stock android and stock bootloader.

Its gonna say tampered if you have tampered with the stock recovery haha.
You can either go s-off to get rid of that or go back to full stock.
And ya just flash latest superSU and you should be rooted.

How would I install thus if I am unlocked anf s-off with twrp installed?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't think I'm going to do anything to this phone. I know it's odd that someone on XDA doesn't root or unlock or anything like that. I actually learned a hard lesson with the DNA. When I got it in early 2013 I bricked it. It could have been hardware related too. The display did funky things. It was replaced under warranty.
I used the replacement for some time before I sold it off then moved on to other phones. Back in January I saw on for sale on Craigslist. I bought it for like $60 but it was a bit beat up. Small crack on the top right of the screen and scratches everywhere. Now my DNA is mostly a spare phone.
What I find funny is the DNA now has KitKat and my primary phone is a Verizon Note 3 and it doesn't yet have KitKat officially. I did take the "leak" of KitKat and it is great. That's as close to any hacking I have done in ages. Probably should not have taken that leak for the Note 3 but too late.
My DNA is still installing the update. May try rooting but would rather not brick this phone.
At least you need to be on the stock recovery and ROM, I'm not sure if being s-on is required.
Give it some time, someone will post the new radio, hboot, and rom.

The leaked kk update for the Note3 looks friendly

I'm not on stock recovery. Perhaps I'll wait.
EDIT:
The heck with it. I reflashed stock recovery using fastboot. I'll give it shot.

stock recoery
stock rom,you can root, but build.prop cannot be modified.
s-on+locked, or s-on+relocked, or s-off( locked, unlocked, or relocked will be ok)
your rom version must be 3.06.605.4
Anybody have the radios extracted for this yet? If you do, post them
Update installed. Besides what's mentioned in the links on previous thread... Zoe camera mode is there

You should have unlocked s-off cause the update says blocks rumrunner security off as a 'bug fix'

Were you S-Off and rooted, with stock rom? and after the update did you remain rooted and s-off with no issues? if so what method did you use to get s-off?
This is a 2 part download, the initial one was about 30MB and it rebooted. Part 2 is 618MB.
Mine's downloading now but I'm at work so I can't capture the OTA unfortunately.
You have to manually initiate the update scan both times.

Was on stock 3.06, unlocked bootloader and s-off.
Update kept me unlocked and s-off.
Lost root during the update but I was able to flash TWRP 2.7.0.0. and re-install SuperSU without any issues.
