Hello all
ive seen that illumination bar was working(only notification) for cm based roms.So i wanted to ask that can we make illumination bar work in cm11 for xperia u. by pushing some files to sys/lib/hw
if yes whats the procedure
It indeed is possible to get illumination notifications working on CM for the xperia u however the CM11 for XU is still in early stages of its developement.
I am sure the developers of CM11 know how to add illumination bar support since they already have it working on earlier versions of CM. I however do not think it is one of their main priorities at this moment, a stable rom is more important than a gimmic like the illumination bar. Just be patient and give the developers their time to create an awsome ROM, the illumination bar will follow eventually
gimmick
i understand and agree that devs have bigger fish to fry than illumination bar (e.g. being able to disable and reenable wifi), however it certainly isn't a gimmick to be able to tell at a glance and without touching the phone if there is an unanswered message, email or call to respond to. the illumination bar on cm10 saved me many many many instances of returning to a room and having to pick up phone, open case, unlock screen, relock screen, close case, put back down, and all just to learn that there is nothing i needed to know.
i know you're trying to defend the awesome devs from excess hassle, but dismissing the op's request for a feature as a gimmick was unnecessary. (as is this post.... obviously)
Illumination receiver
You can use illumination receiver with the illumination bar notification app. For me it works.
It might even work without the illumination bar notification app with the CM settings.
But the illumination receiver is definitely is needed. Search through the forum for the apk!

Can you tell me which one becuz ive seen 2-3 threads with illumination receiver and few post where it is said just to copy light.montblac.so to sys/hw/lib
which one you wanted to say
Yes, copy the file lights.montblanc.so in /system/lib/hw folder with 644 permissions

After reboot the phone and configure the illumination bar for notifications on Settings > Display & lights > Notification light
lights.montblanc.so file > http://l.i4g.me/lights.montblanc.so
[QRCODE]l.i4g.me/lights.montblanc.so[/QRCODE]
thanks for the help here,
i've successfully overwritten the montblanc file in lib/hw rebooted and enabled settings>display>pulse notification light, but still no notification in lightbar. it doesn't function when i hit 'test' in the configuration page nor when an actual message/call is received.
also the top-right corner led now no longer lights when charging or when notifications are missed (pretty sure it did before changing the montblanc file)
stupidly i didnt backup the original montblanc - anyone know where i can replace it, or better yet why the fix might not be working for me?
thanks!
btw i'm using maclaw's [ROM] [UB] [Kitkat] [4.4] CyanogenMod 11.0 200121207
---------- Post added at 06:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:06 PM ----------
updated to cm11 20131213 which presumably reset the montblanc file. backed it up and retried the fix. still no notification bar.
with original montblanc led in top right functions as normal -when charging, using 'test' in pulse configuration and when messages received.
with fix led does not work and also the screen does not completely turn off when put to sleep - it's not completely black.
have switched back and forward to verify that led and screen total-blackout are fixed and broken by making this change.
what gives? just me?

(from PuiuMarius2000 on page 114 of cm11 nightlies forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2528466&highlight=illumination&page=114)
replace montblanc file in rom's zip file with (forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2452571&d=1386949681) and reflash (no need to wipe anything)
works fine for me now!

Hello all,
I decided to open a new thread instead of continuing the old one because it will be a little irrelevant. This works on CM5.0.7.1 ONLY.
So what's in this mod?
- Ability to show/hide PLMN/SPN label on both status bar pulldown and lockscreen (by bcrook)
- Ability to modify notification count color (by Wysie). Thanks prash for the suggestion!
- Import colours from XML.
- Export colours to XML.
That's all for now. Lol .

1. What about enomther's ROMs?
I have contacted him via Twitter regarding my framework changes, and here's his reply:
@Wysie_Soh right right, of course they are, I haven't looked at it yet, but it's on my list to incorp., so I will be getting to it

In other words, it *should* be there soon!
To Do:
- Override ALL notification items colours (Looking into it with jeagoss and krazykrivda, not sure if it's doable.)
- Progress bar colours (Have to look into it, not sure if it's doable to be honest)
If you like what I do, get me drunk cause I code better when I'm drunk !

Sounds good!
Taking requests? Here's an idea... ability to turn on/off the date on the drop down notifications window in the top left.

Just wondering... I hate when using a transparent status bar, pull down the notification window and the date is placed over the system icons in the status bar making it look like butt. Then the date isn't really readable anyway since it has a few icons in the background

Thanks for the work Wysie. Now my interface is suitably rainbow-like
Great one mod!
Would be nice if it would support other ROM's too
Just a quick note and a question:
Note: The process seemed a little odd to me, let me know what you think. I flashed from recovery, rebooted, and on the first boot the carrier info was still displayed. I went into Spare Parts->General and confirmed that all the "Display..." options were UNchecked. So I tried to reboot, but the phone hung just before shutting off (with the "Rebooting phone..." window displayed). Had to BP, turned back on, and now everything is good.
Question: This will be integrated into CM from now on as part of the other Framework tweaks?
Thanks!
Any chance add Progress Bar Color Change.
Read the first post, d750 . So far things aren't looking good. The reason is because almost all apps call progress_horizontal directly, without going thru any code (Java). The only change that is possible is to edit the binary XML directly
RobbieTheStiff: I had the hang on reboot on stock CM (even before my framework changes, 5.0.6) before, must be one of the apps or maybe CM itself .

Thanks Wysie
I can help you if U want.
I think we can have two ways:
1 - use sd card (not very good for me)
2 - use system / etc (good way for me) where cyanogen also locate is changelog.
I try to study if It's possible a solution like iphone (any carrier with own logo) but the android structure it's very different.
I also try to add a sound when lock the phone and when unlock.
It's really cool but I can't do it.
Can U help Me?
Thanks Wysie for your android modding.

I think only one file called logo.png so any person can select what lago see in device. Non only carrier logo but anything he wants.
Any carrier logo it's very difficult
For logo I think It can be grabbed form a SD folder like Logo so anyone can select it, but the logo see in Devices are hoster in etc. So when a person select the logo it have to be copy in etc
What do you think?
Now I try to look lock file for try to add a sound
Adding an image sounds unnecessarily convoluted. And there is no way we should be pitting a crapton of images in /system. We are already tight on space in the d/s builds. There are like 100 carriers with android. Ugh.
I vote to include trackball notifications in succession WHOOT!!
Hello.
I know that i got only 2 posts, but i hope that is not a problem with you guys
Anyhow,
I was interesed in the LWW notification LEDs and music LED.
Is there any way to control them?
LightFlow doesn't work on my phone, Blink on the other hand does work,
but i'm more interesed in the music LED for notifications.
I've spend hours searching google on some information about it, but i couldn't find a thing. If i'd know how to control that led i'd write an app for that, it's not a problem, but i can't figure out how to actually turn it on - besides walkman app.
I'm thinking of something like using it aditionally with the notif LED, to blink when there's a message, or to stay lit when there's a missed call etc.
I know how to write an app for controlling the notification led, but the music one gives me pain in the... :laugh:
Please, if anyone has any information about our LWW LEDs, it would be much appriciated :fingers-crossed:
I have a wt19 with ICS and new walkman player, i want the lights works too.
Yes I too want a fix for LED problems!
I'm not talking about the useless use of it in walkman.
I'm talking about using the led for notifications, i.e. staying on if having a missed call, flashing when phone is finished with charging, pulsing if we have a new message etc.
I think our led is very usefull due to its location, unlike the real notification led, because it is bigger, and you can see it while sitting / relaxing while ur mobile is not in your close distance (i.e. on a table 1 meter of you, whatever)
any developer listening???
It seems not at the moment, i hope someone will check this thread before it dies :/

good question or questions you want to make the music light the nothifications light, so the questions are if that it's possible and there is no way to flash a fix for the notification LED instead of wait fos Sony to make a 4.0.5?
Using Lasan's mod fixed my problem with notification LED.
notification leds are working for me, i just want to make the music led work as it is a notification led..
i messed with /sys/class/leds/music-light for a bit but couldn't do anything, the "trigger" file is just reverting back to original (selected [none]) whenever i edit it.
any help would be appreciated
as far as notification led is considered it works by lightflow on my lww..
but the music light does not light up properly (it just light up for 2 or 3 seconds and not stable light)

With already mentioned mod, you can set different notification LED color for each notification type (messages, missed calls, notifications).

For only LED Notification you can:
-Make Backup first, possible Bootloop-
Works fine on Rooted Stock Sony ICS (4.1.B.0.531).
Odex: you have in /system/framework some *.odex files you must deodex, goto 1
Deodexed: no *.odex files in /system/framework nothing to do, goto 2
1. deodex /system/framework, 2 possible Methods:
- use xUltimate from this Post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24876893&postcount=1 or
- use Deodex Patch from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26701025&postcount=1 Flash in CWM
2. install in CWM services.jar from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27696120&postcount=1 (File: DeodexedNotificationLedFix.zip)
I used Deodex Patch and DeodexedNotificationLedFix.zip for my Xperia Mini (ST15) and it works fine, only thing is the LED is blinking very fast.
My rom is the official ICS for LWW, is odexed or deodexed?
Hi, I've been using Quickpanel for my status bar/notifications on the Xperia U for a while now but I find it overcrowded.
Here's my concept for how the Status bar should be (pop the image on your Xperia U and view it in the gallery/album to see how tidy it looks on screen):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As there are already plenty of other ways to access settings and because it always sat in an awkward position I thought I'd just do away with that. Rather than having the date further down, the icons on the left of the status bar now fade as your drag it down and it is replaced with a simplified date.
The toggle icons on various versions I find to be over-designed, so here I've replaced them with simpler icons and a simpler colour scheme. The icons next to the clock have been spaced away from the clock a little and slightly re-organised.
And finally, instead of having a cyan-coloured splitter as well as additional miniature bars to signify the status of the toggles; I've now merged them into one. So...
..when a toggle is off it is dark grey with the part of the splitter below it being dark grey and 2px high.
..when it is toggled on it is very light grey with the part of the splitter below it being dark grey and 2px high.
..and when active it is again very light grey but with the part of the splitter below it being cyan and 5px high.
The only problem is this is just a visual design made in Xara, while I know how to swap out icons and change the colour of some things, I have no idea how to do the layout in the XML files and how to modify behaviour etc.
So if a developer who likes this wants to make something of the design (preferably as close as possible to it) you're more than welcome and I'd be happy to whip up more icons and provide any other visual assets required so you can make a SystemUI/Quickpanel theme; assuming it is possible to this extent. You can put your name on it as long as I get a "designed by" credit.
EDIT1:
I've attached a few images below showing different versions ("Simplified" & "Complex") and in different colour schemes ("Cyan", "Lime" & "Mono").
Dear Mitchio!
I wish that there were much mods looks like yours. But, unfortunately, there are two kind of people, my friend. Those who hade knowledge to make things work and those who know (like you) how they suppose to look god. For example, I don,t use any status bar mod, for example, couse of stupid dialog at reboot menu or any design stupidity they included. So I wish more cooperation between modders and designers too.
Regards, Zagor
Xperia S
it looks good and neat. much better than those i have seen previously in this forum. but just a suggestion, can you remove the blue line under each toggle? and put a clear button that disappears if you dont have notifications. something like what sony has done with the xperia T toggles.
---------- Post added at 08:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:44 PM ----------
how about modifying the stock from xperia t? with stock battery and all, just make one that has about 15 toggles.
Thanks for your feedback guys.
And ambetdelarosa, the idea was to minimise the toggle's vertical footprint for by merging the cyan splitter and the toggles; but I'll make a modified version or two tomorrow.
thanks for the response!
it looks good mate, but can you make it compatible with xperia acro S? how about making one for the xperia s and acro that looks like this one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925727 don't you wanna have something like this on your xperia U?
Edited my original post and added some attachments.
I like the first version the best. Great concept!
Guys, as all of us who have been using legacy xperia ROM for quite a while know it pretty well that the latest nightly is very very much stable. So can someone please use his compiling/decompiling knowledge and mod the systemui.apk and android.policy.jar to enable status bar transparency? There is already an xposed module that enables it but that module also creates buggy call screen and some other problems.
So please, ANYONE kind enough to mod those two files from latest legacyxperia nightly and share? I think a lot of users will be thankful to whoever can do it.
Thank you.

See the screenshot. I installed and activated the module apk, turned on statusbar transparency, did NOT select the full screen caller id and see...the call screen image is cut. Apart from that, I can not turn on small am/pm text in statusbar anymore after activating the module. The am pm is either big or none.

Good Changes! :good:
Saw that it arrived yesterday with an update, however the levels of transparency seem to be a bit broken.
If you select full transparency it doesn't seem to work, and just defaults to full black. (At least on the MotoX, anyway)
Additionally, if you select 'always show notification bar', the transparency option disappears entirely. (is this because it becomes adjustable within the widget setting instead?)
And finally, the transparency seems to have a forced gradient effect at all times, will there be a way to change this?

Hi,
Our team are still working on full transparency settings, as we want to make sure that the features will work 100%. So yes, we understand your frustration, but hopefully within the next update we'll include full transparency and gradient toggle support
I know there's a way but I don't know exactly "where" since I don't even know how to create a theme so maybe a theme maker knows?
This one have transparent default
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This one doesn't have statusbar on default
But you can pull it down which is exactly the look I'm after (until you do anything at all and it dissapears again)
So I've tried everything in settings
Which only makes it black
But there's obviously a way to make it persistent and transparent through the theme itself - how?
EDIT: Aha just unlock the widgets and longpress the statusbar and voilá - seems to be persitent (although I have a bunch of xposed modules that alters the statusbar)
Good!
