NEWSFLASH: Rooting V10G P769 is possible now... visit this page
***All following information was true upto 2-March-2013 only before new Root Method arrived. lolz
---------------------------------------------------------------
Lolz. Title says it all. I am just curious to know how many of you are stuck on Unrooted P769V10G?
Facts+Observations (till post update date)
P769 V10E is ROOTABLE
P769 V10G is NOT ROOTABLE
P769 V11A Wind Mobile is also NOT ROOTABLE
Some were on Rooted P769 V10E and accidentally or unknowingly they updated (in sleep) to V10G and lost Root and now stuck on it.
Once on UNROOTED V10G, you CANNOT REVERT BACK to V10E or previous roms (if any). Some people tried but they got some weird results.
Once on V10G you can flash "V11A Wind Mobile" kdz but that also CANNOT BE ROOTED.
.
WARNING: DO NOT FLASH OTHER KDZ FROM P768/P765/P760 ON P769 AS THE HARDWARE IS NOT FULLY COMPATIBLE AND YOU MAY PARTIALLY OR PERMANENTLY BRICK THE PHONE.

Please tell us what exactly happened when you try to flash old versions V10E or V10A? Where does it stop? Any details? If you share your experiences, someone may find some solution from here or from elsewhere. Asking all pals to add your names and share your ideas and workarounds.
Maybe something good comes out of discussion and sharing of information.
Not kidding...
I read somewhere on L9 threads that once upgrading to 10g or 10h, you can't go back to 10a, is this problem only on P769? because it's possible to downgrade down to 10a from 10h on P760. but... with some little troubles
you see after downgrading to 10a i coudn't even type my simcard pincode, because the phone was horribly slow!
i had to soft reset (power button + home key + volume up) after resetting it was allright but a new problem here after resetting.... i lost everything, LUCKILY i setup LG's backup tool to backup everything twice a week, so restoring with this app is a life savior i tell you, it even restore settings, downloaded apps, homescreen settings and widgets, everything!
Re: [FUN+DISCUSSION] List of users stuck on Unrooted P769V10G. Lolz :D
Not sure but I heard you could KDZ back to older version. So not sure what happened.

Good information and great suggestion. Thanks a lot. But there is no problem for P760/P765/P768 at all. Pals are flashing any roms anytime.
The problem listed and to discussed here is about P769, the variant which is intentionally made rigid by US Carriers. More information will be appreciated. Anyone?
IS there anyone who tried flashing P760V10A rom on P769? Just for time being, then it can be rooted and then CWM backup of P769 can be flashed. Well I am not sure this will work, and not asking anyone to do it.
Just asking if anyone tried this way before or not?
Flashed the full 10g kdz, so there was no way possible for me to keep root. And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm an idiot.
Looks like cgigate tried flashing with bad results
Don't want to mess with it to much now, going on vacation this week and don't have a backup 4G phone.
I almost had a heart attack when my phone was upgrading. How fortunate I was to have installed Voodoo Root Keeper as instructed in the rooting thread.

You can switch between V10G and V11A but can't root both. And no switch back to V10E. Say thanks to your US providers. Not to blame LG. They don't restrict this anywhere else in the world for P760/P765/P768.

I have the prepaid optimus l9 from T-Mobile, and have rooted it and deleted several of the bloatware apps. How can I return this phone to its out of the box state, as in unrooted and with bloat intact? I am not returning the phone, if that helps, but I am giving it to a parent, and want the OTA updates to work properly for them.

Reflash V10E with offline LG update method. If required do hard reset after flashing. Its back to factory defaults and will take V10G update.

hey all, i understand that there have been heaps of other rooting threads for the L9, but all of them i have come to no success... Honestly it is getting extremely annoying so i'd like some help here to try and get my phone rooted once and for all... For starters is an Australian L9 if that means anything. Software android 4.0.4 kernal 3.0.21 and software version P768f10e-AUS-XX. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've made another post and that didnt get any responses, so i hope that this one will prevail a little bit more successful. Thanks in advance, your fellow android user.

The first thing to learn before root your phone is flash KDZ in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344.
After you understand how to flash KDZ and successfully flash LG stock P768f v10e on your phone, you can root you phone with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
The hard part is hex edit .bin file. If you understand how to edit it other steps just run script and replace edited file while KDZ tool flash .bin to your phone.
If your phone isn't root after doing all steps, it may happen from a little mistake in some step. Lelus' root method also work on new ROM update (V20?) so if you understand it you can root P768f JB rom that will come in our next update.

I see. For now, there is no one click solution for rooting L9. If You want to root your phone you must follow those guide and if you don't understand some steps you can ask in the forum. In most case you will not brick your phone just because you flashing KDZ.

The guide may seem intimidating at first due to it's length, but once you get a general idea of what you are doing it is actually pretty simple.
If it helps I will try to explain it in layman terms so you can get a better idea of what is happening:
As far as I know, the Australian P768F still has ICS, so you will be using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
What's Happening (General Idea; Doesn't include the small details of setting it up):
Essentially what you are doing is tricking the LG Update Tool to 'update' your phone. Instead of the LG Update Tool connecting to a LG server and applying an update , we create a 'small server' on our computer so we can instead redirect the Update tool to install files that we have on our computer (which you will download as you follow the guide).
In the actual installation process, the LG Update tool will apply the KDZ (think of it as the phone's OS I guess) and then install some files. At some point in the process, you will also see the Update tool install some bin files that are numbered. It is here that we will replace one of the bin files with a 'modified' bin file that allows us root access.
Note: Since I can't seem to find an edited bin file (why we need this is explained above) for the P768F, you will have to create your own following this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38750385&postcount=47
Cheers for all your help guys, ill either give it a go or wait till one click comes out. Also the Australian S3 currently has a one click, correct? ill probably root my brothers for him.

I just bought my LG Volt 2 a month ago, and I'm ready to make it MINE! Unfortunately, I think this phone is too new, because I can't find anything helpful on how to root it. I tried "kingroot" and after it did a few things, it said I was successfully rooted. BUT, when I started up "SuperSU" it says it has to download some things, and its never successful and informs me to restart my phone and to press the restart tab. When I press the restart tab, it says "attempting to restart phone" but it can't. I'm on the 5.1.1 operating system, and using an LG Volt 2 (LGLS751). Is there any advise out there that someone can offer me? Am I REALLY rooted? Has anyone successfully rooted this phone yet? If so please tell me where I can find the steps. I have faith that my XDA community will pull through. Thanks everyone!

Considering this is an open community, why not just post your method for finding root here like everyone else does. Then we can verify your method through duplication. We can also test your methods using different firmware versions, different scenarios (such as from stock, from partially rooted by one-click methods, from bricked, etc.).
I myself just acquired an LS751. No battery, but that is an easy fix. No FRP, so that will not be an issue. I know the person who originally owned it anyways. This phone has great potential. Please share your method so we may all benefit. We will definitely give you the full credit if your method can be verified or refined to a validated method.
I know I am quiet guys, but I have been around for a very long time in these forums. I remember when I fumbled my way into getting a Motorola Atrix 2 ROM to work on an original Motorola Atrix. I wish now I had published my methods and dealings, for the collaboration of developers in these forums brings about the greatness we see in Dirty Unicorns (Which was the ROM I used, I believe it was AOKP at the time though), Paranoid Android, etc. My experimentation would have accelerated the development process.
Please do share your findings and let us all help in developing and refining methods.
After reading a post saying that there is no known root method for 35b, I set out to find one.
I am surprised to find out that rooting actually takes only five minutes, and does not require a computer.
You only need to go to http://kingroot.net/wap/ on your phone, scroll to the bottom, click download, make sure Settings -> Unknown sources is enabled, and install KingRoot apk when it is done downloading.
Open the app, scroll down until you see the 'Try it' button, click it, wait for the app to connect to its server, and press the big round button.
The app roots your phone and provides root access management without reboot. Enjoy!!!
Please contact me if you have any concerns.

Edit 1:
The Kingroot one-click-root application does not exist on the Play Store! Such rooting tools are considered malware/viruses for running exploits and are a violation of the guidelines and not permitted! The tool is safe, however; dont worry about it too much. The Kingroot and similarly named apps on the Play Store are fakes and do not do much of anything, hence the crappy reviews. Stop looking on the Play Store. That is entirely misleading.

Yes you can root 35b with kingroot and use SuperSume pro paid app or this guide to remove kingroot. If you do this you will still have stock recovery though so my advice is to keep reading and decide what you need/want to do.

Likewise, im just as hesitant as you are buddy I tried searching for the kingroot app on playstore, there were quite a few with the name so i decided to just give a look at all of them, and all of them had mostly negative reviews how it would stop at 90% and some of the users complained how their devices got bricked. This made me hesitant to proceed further with the app.

I can confirm that this method works on 35B. I rooted last night, and it seems to be working okay. Although after trying my first root program, the phone got significantly hot. It also rebooted once. But after that it seemed to work fine, it just gets a little warm when using a root app. I think its because i chickened out and closed kingroot during the root process, causing the root to be just a tad messed up. An hour later i opened up kingroot again to fully root it and it was already rooted.
I am buying a new phone today, considering the G3 from verizon. My question is will it come with the 35B or the 46A update, and if it comes with the 46A update does this method still work? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, have never rooted a phone before but recently became interested. Thanks for any help
Worked perfect for me according to root checker
Worked flawlessly, rooted with Kingroot, then installed and ran Supersume Pro. Now fully rooted 5.1.1 with Supersu, not a trace of Kingroot left!
Working!
I confirm that work with vs985 35b, I follow the step right now I want to install marshmallow
