Thank you very mutch for the tip.
Im now running it and wow a nice rom!
The best ROM.
Try this ROMs from SGT developer sections. I've previously installed all of them, but now stay on nightly build from cyanogenmod (08-12-2013 build).
1. The best rom for me is InfamousPAC (JB4.3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2411081
2. Also you can try this, it working fine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098429
3. GanbarouGT ROM on CM 10.2 and JB4.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2445431 But be afraid! It clean ALL DATA IN YOR INTERNAL SD, IT BACAME COMPLETELY FREE!!!
4. And finally - nightly builds from CyanogenModOrg Team, only JB4.2.2, I've didn't know about their plans to make 4.3/4.4 ROM. Still 4.2.2. You can always find rom here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=p4 (or in section below it you has 7510 or Verizon/T-Mobile).
All this rom are rooted, with perfomance and developer tools in "Settings". You can swithch you CPU to 1400MHz (but don't forget to plug AC

Do all Custom ROMS for all the positive features they may bring always result in less stabililty than a Stock ROM?
I imagine CM7 to be the best....seeing as he works for Samsung also. I certainly found it the best when I had the I9000/Galaxy. However looking at the CyanogenMod forum there are plenty of people raising issues with the builds (including 'stable' builds).
I really enjoy trying different ROMS usually but I am deliberately sticking with a rooted stock at the moment - and it has never froze, crashed or rebooted itself yet! I do miss fiddling with my phone though!
Thoughts/opinions appreciated.
Thanks

Yes.

If you want a stable rom, then use the one in my sig. Oxygen is amongst the most stable roms that are out here. It's almost bugfree, because the creater of the rom, Adam G is a perfectionist.
You have no touchwhizz, just stock android that works. If you are looking for a shiny rom, then this one is not for you. If you want a stable rom and an almost bug free rom, then this one is for you.
ps you won't find this rom on xda, because he does not want that anymore.
Samsung Galaxy SII
try this combination...
*CheckROM Revolution HD v3.1.1 (fast and lite)
*Speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-18-test8-CWM.zip (best battery life)

I don't know if you can say that. It has some coding from CM, drivers etc. But it is supposed to be a stock android rom, the way google intended it, with (almost) no CM stuff.
Hi, I've rooted a friends NT wth 1.4.3 using the SD card method. I am looking to change this thing to a traditional Android Tablet with Android ICS or higher. Any idea what is the best and most stable rom? How about Xylaon?

Against forum rules to post the "best" ROM. But my preferred ROM is CM 10.1 4.2.2. If you want a more stable version I suggest CM10. I just like using the most up to date ROM is why I use 4.2.2 build.
Pick whatever you want. Head over to the iamafanof website to find the ROM of your liking. He has CM, Paranoid Android and Xylaon. All do the same thing with slight "extra goodies".

Thank you for your response. I wasn't really asking for best rom but people's opinion of which one is most stable. This is someone else's device and I don't want to be maintaining it. Xylaon is on it now and it seems pretty cool. I don't have access to sound files to test the sound. I've heard Android 4.2 variants have sound issues. Is that correct/

any major bugs you've found with cm10.1?
my brain is quickly turning to mud....spent the last 2 hours reading up on rooting this only to finally figure out it's a ****ing tablet and not a ****ing color . doing it for a friend's kid so kinda in the same situation as the op (looking for the best option for a maintenance free rom)
always thought cm is the best option for putting on another's device but feeling reluctant to leave it at cm10

I'd suggest Succulent's CM10.0 build dated 12/31 http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/.
You can try running his various builds off SD first before picking one to install internally.
I second CM10 dated 1231. I have that on a NT used by a 9-year old, and it's doing its job beautifully.
When I tried higher builds on my NT stock browser has been a bit glitchy, and there has been a few minor problems while streaming video. Works flawless in CM10 1231 build!
(I visit a pretty poorly coded web site quite often, and I'm sure many problems are due to the poor site, but it doesn't alter the fact that it works well on CM 10 an not on higher builds!)

hahahaha, I did the EXACT same thing when I first got this thing ages ago. Someone gave it to my wife for free and I was told to "make it work nice and keep it"
I'm running Xylon now, but I've had the best battery life with AOKP (I could quite literally leave it unplugged for a week and it would still be 60+% battery, assuming it was off the whole time).
Only thing better for me was Stock. Xylon is close, but not as good.

You're using a VERY old ROM. Assuming you have it internal flashed all you need to do is copy the .zip ROM and GAPPS files (that you can download here) onto your SD card.
You have to preform a factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache. So if you have data on your device you want to keep make sure to back it up.
Once you do that then install .zip from SD card and select the ROM and Gapps. Reboot your tablet and TADDA, CM10 is internal installed on your device!
I have some suggestions!

The most stable version of CyanogenMod is CM7(Gingerbread)
If you want the second most stable, that would have to be CM9 because CM10 still has a minor crash/sleep*STUCK* bug and some versions of it just dont work period. I have the NOOK Tablet 16GB with TWRP Installed, but having the "Unable to mount /data1 partition" error but will shortly be fixing that and i will be testing like a champ once again ^_^!!! *Im fixing my problem tonight before i go on a 13 hour trip

Not meaning to yell but Android Ice Cream Sandwich has almost all of the features Jellybean has in store. but Jellybean supports the NOOK Color without the problems of the NOOK Tablet<--Kernel Difference + Hardware Difference(Thats the only problem with Android Jellybean
Cm10 was made into a stable version with its final release. I run it with no problems. CM10.1 however is very buggy. Still crashes and runs slow.

You don't need cwm recovery 6 to flash it. You can use recovery 5.*.*.*. (Latest version of 5).
You can replace the recovery.img if you want with the newest 6.*.*.*. The newest version is red. But you dont need to replace it.
thanks it works ill play around with it see how it goes
Hey everyone!
How's it going?
I recently flashed over the stable build for cyanogenmod 10.0 on my vibrant and that worked really well. I was shocked at how stable and smooth it was!
I saw that 10.1 was put out yesterday, so I flashed that but I'd been having some issues. The gapps zip didn't work all that well and I had to manually install some of the apps. No big deal.
However, I've been having issues with poweramp or apollo crashing out when I'm using the stock browser. I am, however, running juicedefender and autokiller to manage my RAM.
Any suggestions to free up some stuff? I'm really hoping to make this work because it works pretty awesome, but I can always drop down to 10.0 if it doesn't work out since I wasn't having any crashing issues.
In terms of flashing:
I flashed back to stock with ODIN, then installed CWM, then flashed 10.1, did a wipe, then installed gapps. Gapps didn't 'take', but I was able to take care of it through the play store.
Thanks for any help!
RTC.
I think back stock w Odin,in cwm reset data cache as normal ,but in advance format system,& fix permissions, install 10.1 & gapps again, maybe works,T959 have 390mb,custom roms JB have 180mb+80mb gapps+apps cache ect. Im install JB roms and free ram is 60mb-90mb eccept slimbean. Or try another jb kernel with custom features like semaphore, only issue is video camera not work in bigmem(406mb)
Good luck! Im on Trigger/overstock.

Yeah, I totally spaced out on the kernel. I just updated to the latest semaphore and am ready to go. Things are already MUCH faster.
I never really use the videocamera anyway, so it's not an issue.
Do you think Zram would help at all? Semaphore doesn't have any.
If I get a class 10 external sd card, is there any way to use some of that as ram? If we can do that, it'd breathe new life into the vibrant like WOAH.
Or is there any way to run some of the necessary apps on the external SD card instead of RAM?
Edit: Tried to OC to 110% and the phone started restarting so I disabled that. Now the phone shuts down when it sleeps and the power button doesn't wake it up. I have to pull the battery and restart it. Anyone know why?
Here's the semaphore kernel I flashed:Semaphore_JB_2.9.21v.zip

Hey, first of all thanks alot for all the development and crazy amount of information going on in here
I have searched but unfortunately I couldn't find a solution to my problem so I'm asking here. I recently installed official Cyanogenmod 10.2 stable release on my i9300 international S3 (since CM11 gave me some bugs) and it's pretty great so far, but I've been searching a way to change the color settings of the screen. On CM there are some built in ones but I don't really like those. On the 4.3 Stock Samsung ROM there was "Professional Photo" or something like that that I did like. Does anyone know what I can do? If I understood correctly kernels can do that sort of stuff but I didn't find a kernel to suit my needs.
Thanks in advance

Yes you understood it correctly If your Planning to run a ROM based on CM Screen modes like Dynamic, Professional Photo etc Are available only through custom Kernel.
In Sammy as v all know you can change it under settings but for CM unfortunately you have to stick to Kernel Settings to do that.
Almost All popular Kernels Have that option under Screen>MDNIE mode
All you have to do is select the right kernel
Unfortunatly You asked a Question in this Thread and Also Gave an answer for the same.
Just remeber that for CM ul have to stick to some Externel Kernel as these options wont be available with stock CM 10.2 Kernel as well
Just as a recommendation give GoogyMax , Boeffla, Agni a try as these gave me really good results(Special Thx to Dev's of the same )

I've looked into GoogyMax and Boeffla but as far as I could tell they don't support color changing. If I do install them what can I do to change the colors?
And I have yet to install a kernel, does it come in a zip file that I can install in CWM?

Strange To hear that. Well ive never used Stock CM so cant Comment on that GPS issue.
As Far As Now the AOSP or AOKP Roms ive used have never Had this GPS issue. You Can Try Anyone From Below Thread (CM 10.2/1)

I have CyanogenMod 10.2.0, and I'm very happy whit it, but one of its little issues is it doesn't support HDMI output whit the adapter.
So, using the dual boot option in googy max kernel, I want to flash a rom (and has to be android 4.1.2), essencially just for that. Some time ago I flash the Omega rom, but couldn't make the camera work, despite of the app I used.
Which custom rom is the simpliest (is that a word?? ), smooth, stable and -camera fully functional- ?? I'm sure there's a lot, and don't want to start an eternal debate, just a short list, please
Thanks in advance.
Edit: just realiced this goes in Galaxy SIII Q&A forum, sorry for that, how can I move it?

Ok, I haven't tried those, I'll give them a try
Thanks!
But I am tempted to believe it's a kernel issue. anyone know if that could be the problem?
