I'm having an issue where my splash screen for bootloader is loading up twice. I'm a layman with phone dev., so let me describe the issue and see if someone can help. When I turn on phone I see splash screen for ~3 seconds, then it goes to black for ~1 second, and back to splash screen for ~3 seconds before boot animation. When I load system from TWRP it goes to splash screen and stays there until I press power and then it goes to boot animation. My phone runs AOKP at around 700 mb/1.8mb.
My fear is that I've loaded a bootloader on top of a bootloader, or that I've loaded a ROM on top of a ROM. Something fishy is going on and I'm trying to figure out exactly what. If anyone has any particular insights into my scenario, please post!

Any idea how to get a seamless splash screen? I've tried flashing both .img and .zip in RUU, updated radio, updated hboot. Do I need to have Eng Hboot then maybe reflash as .zip in RUU?

If your phone is booting and working don't mess with it. I don't get what your trying to say. Is the htc logo poping up twice and then it boots because I thought that was normal.

Being inexperienced as you said, I would avoid the ENG hboot.
But... if you had to.... flashing the ENG hboot with a custom splash would indeed give you a smooth boot.
But like I said, I'd advise against it. Your phone works as it should, just leave it.

ENG is no longer needed to flash a splash img, you just need to zip out of my Collections thread
Related
Okay so here's the deal. I was attempting to add some tweaks to file systems (system, devlog, and cache). I flashed my ROM with the tweaks included and then powered off from recovery because I had to pick a friend up from work. I came home and when I turned my flyer on it just booted to a black screen. So I tried rebooting into bootloader and recovery through adb and they both rebooted to this same black screen. No htc splash or anything.
Things I have tried:
Re-flashing recovery
Running RUU's
Re-flashing bootloader
Flashing zips through fastboot from Globatron's HC upgrade thread
Letting it die and trying again
Pretty much everything I can think of
When I flash any zip through fastboot, it says something like "Failed: remote id".
When i run any RUU, it says either that the battery is too low (which I know it isn't because I've charged overnight) or that it can't continue because there is a model ID error. I've tried using RUUs from the 3g flyer, wifi flyer, and US wifi flyer (I own the US wifi version) and they all say the same thing.
I still have adb and fastboot access, so I'm confident that this is fixable, but it is beyond my knowledge now and I need your help! So please if you have any suggestions, throw them out here! Let me know if more details are needed.
I tried looking at other "my Flyer is bricked" threads but none seemed to help my current situation.
Figures I was going to start working on my ROM again and this happens
Maybe
Fastboot erase cache
Almost sounds like you are in download mode. I have read in a couple threads allong the way of people finding themselves there but struggling to get out
Yeah I've tried that already with no avail. It's so weird. But how would've this triggered download mode?
yea I am not sure, nor am I sure my idea holds any water since you have allowed your flyer to completely drain. I believe that once you did that and it charged enough to power on you would be out of download mode. I think. when you do an adb reboot or fatboot reboot recovery it does appear like your flyer is rebooting? I know the end result is a black screen, but is it seamingly turning off then on again?
Well when I reboot it just sits at the black screen and vibrates once. It might go dark for a second but I would have to check again, and it is charging right now.
I don't like bumping threads, but I'm pretty desperate here. I tried fooling around with it some more and I still have nothing. Any input at all would be appreciated

Well that's the thing, I'm never really in the botloader. I'm at a black screen no matter what I do however I can still use fast boot and adb. I might try that when it charges again.
Whenever I try to flash a zip through fast boot it says "failed remote id not allowed"
I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the boot loader but I really haven't got a clue. When I type fast boot getvar all it says that I'm still s-off.
I even tried changing my main version to no avail.

It is possible your screen just up and died. Happened on my wifes vivid. She just pulled it out to check the time and it was black and no matter what nothing would show on the screen

Thevglobatron flash is not done via recovery, it is done via fastboot
Have you tried just the smaller files ?? When i had a similR situation they worked as the have a generic version of HBOOT INCLUDED

Nope. To use fastboot I have to use adb to reboot to the bootloader and then if I want to use adb I have to fastboot reboot.

Sadly, I think you're right I just tried to unlock my bootloader as a last resort and I got to the point where you use the volume buttons to make an on screen selection and that screen never popped up. So I guess my screen really is dead..
Yeah it sucks but I've found stuff on mobile devices tend to just up and die without warning, I guess your best bet is HTC support. I know someone on here had a bad charging jack and wasn't able to revert to stock and they still honored his warranty and fixed his flyer

i tried that but still has old splash screen. is there a step im not doing
Just to be sure, you are asking about the splash screen and not the boot animation. The splash screen is the very first image you see when your phone turns on. The boot animation is the animation you see after the splash screen as your phone is booting.

Also in some splash threads there now using the normal way of changing it to a pg75img.zip i believe thats the name of it but anyways to do it that way you have to be s-off read the op of the thread they usually put instructions in there on how to flash

Alright I did something stupid and was working with the one x all in one tool kit and I think I clicked on the kernel go button and screwed myself over. All applause can wait till the end lol. So now I have my evo lte sorta bricked. I can get to the bootloader but when I try to boot it gets stuck at the screen that says "HTC quietly brilliant" and then it has the red letters with the warning from htc about development.

You're going to need to supply some more info. Like what HBOOT do you have and are you S-ON or S-OFF? Do you have a recovery installed or have you tried to install one to wipe, flash something else and then see if you can boot?
This happened to me. Since you can't pull the battery you have to figure out the fake battery pull with the power button.
I still don't have this totally figured out but try holding the power button down for 10 secs. If the phone reboots by itself, hold the power button down for 10 secs and when the screen goes out, hold the volume down button and see if that gets you back in the boot loader.
I thought I was screwed too but got back in to recovery by doing the above.

I thought you can't go backwards with the hboot? I was under the impression that once you took the OTA to hboot 1.15, that you cannot go back to 1.12.

You can't. It looks like the OP is just a little confused on terminology.
After the touchscreen died on my rooted phone, I had to replace my EVO, its running the most current update and I want to root again, Im a little confused because I see some posts that its not possible yet, is there any updated information?
All ltes are unlockable, you can unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery but kernel will have to be flashed separately. There is soff for all three bootloaders now so that would be the better route to take since you get full write access to nand memory. Follow the directions on unlimited.io

The notification bar would not come down, when the screen was locked, I tried to pull up the ring and it would move and I couldnt activate any buttons at the top of the screen....then because it wasnt responding, then the screen would start flickering.....it was very frustrating

I get the unlock and custom image before the bootanimation every time. Really does not bother me though. Its nothing odin can't fix when going back to stock.
I get the unlocked logo each reboot, although I've never rooted, flashed a custom bootloader, or installed a custom ROM. Anyone else have this? Seems like it would be simple to fix, and I'm not really concerned about it anyway, but I'm more curious to figure out why it's there at all.

Don't think you can flash a different boot logo. You would need an ODEXED/DE-ODEXED firmware to make those changes.
