Hi
I am new and non-techy.
I have done a search but couldn't find the answer.
I have the Star MTK 6589 quad core 5.7inch phone and was wondering if the CyanogenMod is available for my phone.
I think i install CyanogenMod and then i can get kitkat. Is that right?
Can someone explain it more?
More i read the more my brain hurts :crying:
Or should i buy the genuine phones like samsung so i can get updates??

I have a galaxy s3 with 4.1.2 android. I stumbled upon cyanogenmod and saw the latest version of 10.1 and beside it says 4.2.2. Does it mean I can't use it cause it's not compatible or does it mean it updates my device to 4.2.2 alongside cyanogenmod being installed? Sorry, flashing noob here.

If You flash cm10.1, you'll be on android 4.2.2 . It will have everything from 4.2.2 and some good mods done by the Cyanogenmod team.
I've rooted my phone but I can't find any custom ROMs for it.

CyanogenMod 11 ROM working on S5839i?
Hi!
I'm a bit unexperienced, and not sure about the differences among the S583xx models.
I have a S5839i which is still running Android Gingerbread 2.3, however quite badly (e.g. some calls do not show up).
So I'd like to update it to Android Kitkat 4.4.
For the S5380 I found the following manual:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/update-gala...nstall-1430916
However, I am not sure if the CyanogenMod 11 is compatible with my model.
On the release note http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2587481 , it is stated:
So no idea, if this includes my model (is the S5839I as sub-model of S5830I?)
If so, is there any other way to update my phone to Android Kitkat 4.4? If not, is an update to Android 4.3, Jelly Bean possible?
Thx a lot!

unfortunately there are no upgrades for this model , if your looking for better performance & more storage , get yourself a new device
Devs needed to build Android 4.2 for any MT6577 device - its huge community, but for now we dont have JB 4.2.
Here you can find full kernel and device sources. I hope that it can help.
Here is MT6589 kernel sources, maybe thats can help (all mt6589 devices works on android 4.2).
Maybe we can get cm 10.1? Here is CM9 booted on Mt6577.
For your work you will be thankful a lot of people.
Using frankenstein tech I managed to mash cm 10.1 to mine neken. But...haven't tried with my mt 6577. No promises but i will try and port if some on can find me the stock N9977 rom. Not sure who made it... Closest one i found Star N9977. Cant find stock for it though.

lol
There's no JB 4.2 for MT6577
You can only get til 4.1.2.
BTW, Mediatek SOURCES are INCOMPLETED, that's why there isn't no CM rom's til this date.
Even the ICS Sources still lack some files.
You can say thanks to Mediatek, they use alot of proprietary sources!
I have this tablet, Ezee Tab 706, and it's not that famous so Cyangenmod doesn't have a version for this tablet... I don't know so much of cyangenmod so if anyone can get me a compatible cyangenmod version to my tablet would be great, the reason I am asking, is because I want to update from android 4.1.1 to 4.3 if possible....
Thank you!

I'm sorry to say, but without root, custom recovery and proper sources I doubt you can get CM on that device. Sadly low popularity devices don't seem to get the latest and greatest of Android.

Hello , i have a device with 512mb of ram , mediatek processor MT6572A and 4gb of rom .. is it possible to build a kitkat rom for this device ? And if it's possible , how can i build one ? tell me tell me
huawei vitria Y301A2
I have a huawei vitria Y 310A2.
Can we build kitkat 4.4 ROM FOR THIS DEVICE?
i wanna ask, i'm new to android programming, what kinda tools i need to prepare?
hello?
I don't see why you can't port kk to your devices. If you want kk or any other android version check out xda-university it will guide u in the right direction.
If you believe you will succeed.
Example.. my tablet that was built in 2006 with only 309mb ran was able to external multibootloader from sdcard jb4.1, ubuntu, and debian.
All you answers can be found in the little search box at the top of the page.

check this thread out, someone is already trying to port at least the bootloader, and presumably some kind of custom ROM:

No one is here ??!
