Need Help Urgently - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Okay, so i am on android 4.3 MJ7, sch-i545, yada yada yada
I rooted the phone and installed titanium so i could delete some bloatware (when i should have just installed a custom recovery and get Cyanogenmod or something while i was on 4.2.2)
I wound up deleting some pretty important apps that i thought were bloatware from Samsung/Verizon (Downloads, Download Manager, Video to name a few). Now, i can't play a video i record, I can't open the play store, etc.
I would flash a custom rom like Cyanogenmod, but i don't think it is possible to get a Custom Recovery on android 4.3
Any help getting these apps back would be greatly appreciated.

Try factory reset, if that doesn't work you would have to odin

Ok, i will try a factory reset. What can i use with Odin though? Like what file and where can i get it? A stock rom?

Factory default will not restore deleted system apps. You will need to Odin.

I kinda figured that, so i hesitated to factory reset.
I understand i will need to use Odin, but i'm unsure which file i will need to flash it with. Could you point me in the direction of a rom i can use?

You should always back up the app before you delete it, even if you think you will never use it.

Bump...still need some help with this...

EDIt:This won't help, I for got you are on MJ7. If you're looking for a custom recovery try a Philz custom recovery. You install the recovery using Odin. Not sure what a custom recovery is going to do for you unless you plan on flashing a ROM at the same time. Go here for the download link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322675

It's been awhile since I installed a PHilz recovery, but if I remember right you get the tar file from the download, put it on your computer, put the phone in download mode (volume down and power), connect your phone to your computer using the charging cable that came with the phone. Odin recognizes the phone and you highlight the tar file you have on your computer and select PDA. Click start and let it do it's "thing". Wait until you get a green "pass" in Odin before disconnecting. If I remember correctly the link I provided also has install instructions so if my memory is failing me those instructions should keep you on the right track EDIT: Go here for instructions on how to install the downloaded Philz package; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39433857#post39433857

You can't install a custom recovery on MJ7. It's been posted many times.

I have no clue why anyone would actually delete the apps. Just Freeze then with TiBu to make them functionally not there. If you are that tight on space, buy an SD card.

You can't freeze them unless you donate..
I would have done that if knowing it would be this hard to get the apps back..
Does anyone have a solution? Am i screwed?

Both those downloads have corrupt files unfortunately. Does anyone have a mirror to either those files or help me find an alternate solution?

[Q] Problems restoring stock rom

I have a backup of my stock rom from when I got the phone and I would like to restore that back but it won't let me. When in recovery and I hit restore I get "E:Can't mount /sdcard" so I try advanced restore and then I get "E:Can't mount sdcard" and finally I tried restore from internal sdcard and then I get an error saying "Couldn't open directory. No files found." bearing in mind I don't have any sd card inserted but it's how I always used to do it. So I tried going to mounts and storage then mounting the sd card from there but get an error saying "Error mounting /sdcard!".
What do I do please?

It's the only recovery I have, but how would I go about re flashing it? Just put it in a .zip or something?
have you tried looking for another recovery or looking into the android development for your phone.
shouldnt be that hard to put one on, in fact if it becomes that hard, it should only be as hard as running a few ADB commands. look for one that you like and check out the instructions

No , hes talking about kernel. You need to try a different kernel (they include cwm recovery).
Flash the kernel/recovery you used when backing up the rom.

I can't even remember what kernel I was using back then. It was 2 years ago now.
I'm not sure if it's all worth it, I'm only recycling it at the O2 store for money, does it matter? Is installing custom roms illegal? Because my only worry is them testing it by turning it on or something and seeing that I'm running cMIUI.

Dude don't worry and that phone is worth the fix. As far as I c it you don't even have it that bad. What atheist said is correct.
All you need to do is look for a recovery / kernel that most of the time come together and flash it. Just read the instructions on that post.
After all you're in the right place to get your phone hooked up and fixed whenever u have problems. Don't be nervous about it. Unless u want a new phone lol.

I totally forgot about kies man, never even had it installed. It seems to have worked, and I'm on a stock ROM now but when I boot up it's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S II logo where it keeps illuminating..
I'm not sure if that matters, if the store I take it to for money does end up testing it, at least they can see it turns on, just boot loops for some reason? :/

[Q] Need help returning to stock**ODIN doesn't work for me

I'm trying to return to stock on my Verizon Note 2. I'm currently on AOKP 4.2.2 and have TWRP. I tried to use the Odin method shown by Adam but my phone is not being seen via USB. I've tried to uninstall all drivers and reinstall. Tried again by using Kies as suggested by many.
Can I return to stock just by using TWRP? Are there steps or a walk through on how to do this? Links? I'm thinking I could go into TWRP, wipe the cache, delvik cache, and then factory reset. Then install, "flash" a update.zip and return to stock. Would this work or get stuck?
Also, not sure where to get the update.zip I'd need. I have the OTA stock downloaded from Adam tutorial...not the "alternate" but it's only one file. Would I just zip that, rename to update.zip and try to flash?
Please help!! Again I'm unable to do this through usb plug in so I really need another route.
Thank you in advance for any help!

I read through that one too. Tried all of that. ODIN will not work. My phone is not being detected through USB. Again i've tried all the reinstalls of the drivers etc.... Tried different original cords. nothing.
I need a way to return to stock through my device. Maybe load to the external sd and flash. Can this be done?
Not sure what file to flash though.
If odin isn't seeing your phone then something isnt installed properly. Probably drivers. Im not too sure about it because the only time I used odin was when I first rooted and I haven't touched it since.
The only option I have heard of for doing it from the phone is mobile odin. I dont know much about it, never tried it. Here's the link for it

Are u sure usb debugging is on?, or try going back to a tw rom before using odin, i also read that kies has to be removed from comuter, and phone before trying this, i had problem originally, manually installed drivers, and went to device manager and checked operation, you also have to be in odin mode on phone( power, home, down at same time, as that way it is in download mode.

My phone was a trade off for a iPhone 5.. Best move ever but the last owner had somewhat messed up the phone modding it. I did a full wipe and the previous owner had never done any backups. I wanted to start fresh. All that being said I wanted to start back fresh at stock and then do any modding that I preferred from a new state.
I just flashed MeanBean after reading back through the posts to my question. I realized I had not tried using odin while on a TW based ROM.
I'll see if this helps.

I too am having issues with my Note II not being recognized by Odin on my PC. I know my drivers are installed and I have a good connection with my USB cable/port since when I plug in my phone when powered on, I can see the phone and card just fine. However, when going into Download mode and running Odin 3.07, Odin isn't seeing my phone.
I discovered this while looking into another situation from another thread. While I'm not currently attempting to return to stock and aren't overly concerned about returning to stock since I could probably do it with Mobile Odin if push comes to shove. I am concerned, however, that if I'm unable to use MO and my phone isn't being recognized by Odin from my PC then I might be up the proverbial creek with a paddle.

[Q] TWRP loop, unable to restore or flash anything

I've searched the forums and haven't found a solution to my problem. I have rooted S4 MK2 and wanted to put Gummy ROM on it, only finding out after I had installed TWRP that this wouldn't be possible. No big deal, but now, I can't get away from the stupid downloading screen for TWRP. No longer do I get the screen before it warning about tinkering with your operating system, and once it's stuck on the screen, getting the phone to boot properly sometimes takes a while, and a lot of foul language. I've tried several things to bypass/delete/overwrite TWRP, to no avail. ODIN doesn't work for me, tried several versions, ROM Manager and CWM doesn't work, when I try to boot into CWM mode it goes to downloading screen of TWRP. I finally gave up, decided to nuke it from space and do a factory reset... which took me straight to the damnedable downloading screen! This tells me I will probably be unable to update or use any ASOP ROMs that I might run into, because once on the downloading screen, nothing works, the phone isn't recognized by my computer, two different versions of ODIN failed to get its attention, unable to to load .pit or .tar files... I'm at wits end folks, and haven't found a solution in any other threads on xda, or the net in general, any help and suggestions would be much appreciated. I've not used ADB before, but if need be, I'll learn if there's a fix going that route.

Does Odin "see" your phone? If so, what build are you trying to install?
I know the damage is done, but a little reading before hand would have let you know that with MK2 you can't install a custom recovery. Only Safestrap works with compatible Touchwiz 4.3 Roms
Edit: Maybe this thread will help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578209
Edit #2: My apologies. Just re-read your post and I see you said, more than once, that Odin isn't seeing your phone. I'm afraid I won't be any help. Good luck.
Odin sees the phone, but fails at all attempts to install anything. .pit, .tar etc. I originally wanted to install Gummy but now I know that won't ever work, then I just tried to install stock .tar file and it also fails.

My most recent attempt was SCH-I545.pit, didn't work... I also tried Philz_Touch, gummy, and one other ROM which, of course didn't work, now I know why the roms didn't, but no sure why the .pit file won't work. All I really want to do now is remove all traces of TWRP. My phone isn't bricked, totally usable, it just won't be able to be updated or customized until I get rid of TWRP

Let me know how you make out. Good luck.
From reading this I think you're confusing TWRP with Odin. TWRP doesnt have a downloading screen, but Odin does and thats exactly the screen you want to be on to flash a stock Odin tar. You will need to flash a full stock tar. And if you respond saying it didnt work please include the Odin error log.

You making sure you have the proper USB drivers as well as a good USB cable?
Also like surge said its kind of confusing I think you're confusing Odin with twrp as well at times.
So now your trying to load which file from within Odin???

Got everything working, I'm all stock and all systems are go. Thank you very much for your kind help. I'm going to now patiently wait for the official 4.4 update to arrive and otherwise leave my phone stock.

I think i messed up my phone by doing custom rom?

Okay so ill be honest im super new to all this. I did some research on youtube. I used twrp and a app that is like goolauncher. I did not back up my OS and i accidently deleted it. Im trying to upgrade to the hellfire rom. When i did i get this error in the recovery menu

You attempted to flash a ROM made for a different phone (d2att), never do that again unless you want a brick.

Yea, look at the sticky. Anyway, it is probably something to do with your recovery. Try flashing it using cwm.

Yea, you can flash .zip versions of cwm through the recovery menu. You could also flash it through Odin if you can't find a flashable .zip of it, probably easier that way. Don't just flash any .zip of cwm you find through twrp, it has to be one made to be flashed.

You should just be able to download the recovery in this topic (.zip not tar.md5) and install it using twrp. Put the file on your external SD since you can't access your phone.

You know that the file that you have to put in odin has to be a ridiculous amount of mb or gb then other things because i made that mistake 2 lol.
You have to extract it when using your pc and stuff and sometimes you get others files like ones that arent even like 100 mb or whatever that can look like a rom.
Give me a full list of evrything you exactly do when flashing and wich file and name and how big the file is and also your model number... The s3 ATT right?
Can someone verify for me that att has an own bootloader and stuff and you can only like odin flash their stock roms right?
You can always use phillz touch recovery and download a custom rom like cyanogenmod for your phone! Then you can acces it... If you dont brick your phone.

Huh? What exactly did you do? If you flashed Philz correctly using TWRP then you should have his recovery on your phone.
I think he needs to report his post to get it moved to his section with people to help him with his exact model and the correct stickies to help him.
If he can't then someone may need to report it for him.
Either way here is some reading material I found after a quick search in your forum.

So you got Philz touch running? If so, then you should be able to flash hellfire with it (assuming that you definitely have the right rom for your phone model).

Try redownloading the rom maybe an bad download.
When it doesnt work then your phone just cant take it and try something else man.
And also ask the developer from the hellfire rom if your phone is compatible with the rom (sometimes you need to download some sort of kernel or whatever it needs)

Is this the first ROM you've tried to flash? What were you running before trying to flash hellfire?
To fix your situation should be fairly simple. 1.download a different ROM to an external SD card, I recommend slimkat because its pretty stable. They use a unified d2lte build for all d2 devices. Before you install the zip, wipe data/factory reset, manually format system, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache, install the ROM zip and gapps zip if required then reboot and profit.

What files are you trying to flash? Did you use Safestrap to install RLS16?

i had downloaded the new update for hyper drive. Right now my biggest probelm is I cannot get past the splash screen. I can get into download mode though so can we try to figure out how to unbrick me first. Download mode is the only thing I can seem to get into right now

That's why I need to know if you used Safestrap as your recovery. It's very likely you're trying to flash the wrong file with Odin.
If you had Safestrap your build wasn't MDK. If you didn't need Safestrap then your build was MDK.
So I'll ask again, what file are you trying to flash, with Odin, that keeps failing?

NO!!! You cannot flash the MDK file, you cannot downgrade the S4! Always ends badly, go to the general section and grab the NC5 full-wipe tar and flash with ODIN.

I have tried that from SUrge1223. That did not work for me. I cannot get in to my phone to re root it. Is that the right file the one from him?

From here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172. I would choose the "Full Wipe" version. Make sure you have a good download. Check MD5. Make sure you follow the directions for Odin. If you verify all of that, and it still doesn't work, I'm afraid I won't be any more help. Someone with more knowledge than I have will have to step in. Good luck.

I can vouch for the full Version. Saved my bacon.
You have to boot the phone into a special mode that will allow ODIN to funtion
Turn off the SGS4 and boot it into Download/Odin Mode: press and hold the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds till you see a warning screen. Then press Volume Upkey to enter Download Mode.
I got it!!! Found my Samsung cable and all went well. TY for ALL the help!

Yeah, it is a really good feeling when that ODIN starts to run like it means it. Nothing beats that first boot up!
