yeah.. that guy likes smileys just as much as you do :silly:
looks like just rename file to 0P3PIMG.zip and copy to phone/sd card and boot to hboot.

That will not work with phones that have pretend SD cards.
You'll have to use ruu mode

Could that be the issue with custom recovery backups to external disappearing after reboot? Would appreciate your feedback on my post on that in twrp thread.

i dont really think so... prolly something to do with where recovery stores the backups. 4.1 put the "sd card" at data/media. 4.2 for some reason moved it to data/media/0. when m7 went to 4.2, recovery was still storing backups in the old location,so they appeared to disapear sounds like twrp is still storing them in data/media. you should be able to find them with a root file browser if thats the case. where is the thread? ill have a look ifn i get a minute.

sorry for the short answer earler... limited time at work to cruise forums, since i drive for a living.
anyway, you can flash it just like described for the radio:
-place phone in fastboot, open cmd. file must be in your adb/fastboot working directory
-enter:
fastboot erase cache
fastboto oem rebootRUU (will put you in ruu mode, black screen silver htc letters)
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip (will send and flash the file. dont interupt it while the cmd window shows its writinging, and the green status bar is moving on the phone screen)
*sometimes a file will fail with a pre-update error after after flashing hboot, radios or other firmware. this is normal, just enter again:
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip
and this time it will finish
-when you get "finished" and "OK"
fastboot reboot-bootloader (takes you back to fastboot. should also rescue you if for some reason the file wont flash)
-reboot back to the OS
fastbooot reboot
most if not all the pretend sd card phones will let you rename the file to xxxxIMG(0P3PIMG.zip in this case) and flash it from a real,FAT32 formated sd card plugged into the phone via an adapter and OTG cable. i personally prefer ruu mode,as it leaves sd card format and proper file name out of the equation, and it will show you exactly at what point the flash fails. not to mention i find it a PITA to move files on and off of an sd card

question after rooting

I used the easy root method, everything went fine. When I try to boot into recovery when the phone is off, it doesn't go into clockwork, it goes into hboot, or whatever its called. Then says something about Pg05diag , and then asks if I want to update. Not sure if that's normal. I can boot into recovery with Rom manger.

you need to delete the PG05IMG.ZIP file on your microsd card. It is left over from the root and is not needed.

ok plug your phone into your computer. When the options comes up what to do, select disk drive. After you do this you will more than likely and i think definitely have auto play pop up one option will be open files and folders, click on that. once it loads hit cntrl-f and type in PG05IMG, which is what you are looking for. if its on your sdcard it will be there. if you find it right click and delete.
2 questions, first I forgot about removing PG05IMG, I went to do it after reading this and it is no where on my card, did I miss something? was it removed automatically by the easy root program? second, I want to flash a rom and I know we have to wipe first, I thought I read somewhere that wiping removed our root? Please correct me if I am wrong, I know just enough about code to make me "DANGEROUS"!!!!! Thank you in advance for your help I came from an X and am loving the TB. Just have to get used to doing things differently. (adb, sdk and so on)

Question for noob's - could they unlock bootloader, then unroot, and then install ROM Manager and then let it install Recovery?
XBoarder - This is fantastic. A perfect summary of all the great work you and those helping you have done since the amaze came out. I speak for most when I say that I am very happy to see you still here and continuing all the hard work you have already put into these forums. I hope you continue to do your thing despite the actions of any one person. We need people like you here badly!
I've been lurking since day 1 and you continue to impress. This excellent guide and your amazing 1.1 have brought me over. I was a bit worried about buying a phone that hadn't even been rooted yet (I got mine on the first day) - thanks for making it worth it!

What they don't tell you is that you have to rename fastboot-mac to fastboot and go into terminal and set the permissions for fastboot for YOU to have access to. I spent about 3 hours last night dealing with this issue and am not on my laptop to give you direct link to instructions but if you google "how to get fastboot to work on mac" you should be able to find instruction on how to "sudo" fastboot.

Doesn't work... Tried that.... tried steps in the recovery specific thread too... what could I possibly getting wrong...
Does it matter I use WINraR?
I have just been copying the .zip over to the SD.
Via an adapter to card reader and by leaving it in the amaze and loading it.... NO LUCK
does a quick scan after hboot screen appears with no image listed under every heading if that helps
download it (dont even open it) just drag it on your sdcard put in phone reboot into hboot

[Q] ICS PG05IMG.zip isn't reading at hboot.... for ICS

EDIT: I FOUND THE ISSUE: I needed to reformat my SD Card
I have the new zips for the new radios - for some reason hboot isn't recognizing the zip file, and no its not named ".zip.zip" - I'm using a Linux Machine, I checked the md5s and all, they all matched up, I haven't had an issue like this ever before, what's wrong?

There's two sets of zips, one of the zips can't be read by certain versions of HBOOT because of the compression method. I don't have links to the two sets but I'm sure you can find them.

I know it's an older thread but I'm hoping someone can help. I reformatted my SD card, all the tips and tricks I've seen in this section and the development section and still no dice. Should I be doing this via recovery or HBOOT? If via HBOOT, can I do so after installing a ROM or does it still have to be done first.
Thanks

HEY LOKI
I AM "NOT" RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR DEVICE FROM FAILURE TO READ INSTRUCTIONS.
there is a fix
what you want to do is follow these instructions to downgrade your htc thunderbolt to a firmware that can be S-OFF, i should say.
the reason behind why this wont work is because you are probably s-on and HTC is rejecting your file. Kinda like Read/Write.
Basically you need to be S-OFF.
here is the link to the post:

I would recommend putting the zip file on the root of your SD card and install using twrp. Wipe option first then install.

There is no need to use ADB or fastboot to copy a ROM file to your phone.
If you have an external SD card installed in your phone, remove it from the phone and copy the MeanBean ROM zip from your computer to your card (conversely, if you don't have an external SD card you can reboot to the bootloader, select 'Fastboot' from the menu, then connect your phone and PC. The phone should then be mounted via Fastboot USB, and you can copy files from your computer to your phone. Copy & paste the file, more or less). Put the card back in your phone. Hold down the power button until the capacitive buttons begin to flash. Your phone will reboot. Hold down the volume down button until the bootloader menu appears. Use the volume keys to navigate to the recovery option, then press power to select. Go into recovery and select 'Wipe', then 'Advanced Wipe'. Select Dalvik cache, cache, data and system, then wipe. After wiping, use the back button and select 'Install' from the main menu. Find the MeanBean ROM zip and flash it. You'll need to flash it twice-once to install the ROM, and again to install the kernel. Once the installation completes, reboot.
The reason your touch screen doesn't work is because you're on the latest software update, which contains an updated touch panel driver that's only compatible with software version 3.16 and TWRP 2.4.1.0 or higher. The driver isn't compatible with older versions of CM using the 3.0 kernel, also.

I'll try again when I get home. 3 more hours at work, yay! I didn't get the option before to copy the file via windows over to the phone. I'm not sure if my phone "mounts" correctly. The fastboot USB works but windows doesn't show me the phone. Thanks for the reply and if this works when I get home I'm going to press that donate button...

I had to re-read his post to see that that wasn't an option since his touchscreen was borked due to the CM installation
Of course, that's an option if he made a backup of his previous setup prior to flashing CM.
OP, always make a backup of your current working setup before flashing a new ROM, in case you ever have an issue with the new ROM and need to go back to something that works.

I can't remember if the option is in the sticky settings zip folder for MeanBean but I'm pretty sure the option to force roam is included in OMJ's mod pack. You can find it in the development section here in the EVO LTE forum. As far as Verizon PRL's, I'll get back to you in a few.
Edit: Here you go.

Ok so I click on the "roam only" in the Mobile Network Settings on the phone. It only shows 1x and 1-2 of the 5 bars. So I need to get the "roam only" to work on the verizon towers only. Is there a step by step guide to change the PRL?

I think I'm almost done! I'm stuck on one last mystery. I look at my phone PRL and it has a 1. However I have no service! Did I forget a step?

Your PRL is 1? If that's the case then it didn't take. Otherwise, update your profile and reboot to see if that fixes it. It's been awhile since I messed with my PRL so I may not be of much help.

>>>DropBox is your best friend in this case...or Google Drive. I use either one of I'm feeling lazy and don't want to mount my SD card or take out my SD card and use a USB adapter. Since you're rooted, just flash the zip via recovery ( you'll need to flash twice since you're S-ON but the ROM does all the heavy lifting thanks to some baked in goodness that flashes the kernel without the need for Flash Image GUI.
UPDATE: I see that you figured out the mounting issue and you were able to flash the ROM. Good deal.

No check the zip file for its md5sum from the site with your zip and make sure it matches.. Also try flashing the correct hboot from jbear site to your device (DOUBLE CHECK IT BEFORE YOU FLASH IT WHETHER IT'S FOR YOUR AMAZE AND IT HAS THE CORRECT MENTIONED HBOOT VERSION) and try again..
EDIT : you can't flash a RUU through recovery.. Make sure your phone recognise your ext card maybe that's why try formatting it from recovery and keep the RUU in the root of ext card not inside any folder

Well the size of the RUU is 486.47mb now that I've checked it and it's different than what you just told me (referring to Aj redirected ruu) also the md5sum for that RUU would be
MD5 Sum: 2d7b51781171027adb7c2674394ed82b
Check your ruus md5sum using 4ext md5sum checker and compare it with that if it's different it's a bad download so download again

To check md5sum
Go into recovery
Install from zip > check md5sum > select zip file from ext_SD
And compare that md5 with ravike mentioned above...
And you told that your file size is 474.x
But actual size 486.4 so... Something is missing in your RUU...
Follow above steps....
If problem remains then format your SD card from 4ext recovery and after formating it try to put that RUU in your external SD card and then rename it.
After these steps your problem must be solve...
And
This is the link for RUU...
http://d-h.st/3VD
Download it and check md5sum as shown on site and from 4ext as I mentioned above...
And yup before flashing hboot download correct version for your amaze Bcoz it may hard brick your device...
Hey 1st of all see whether your phone recognise your sd card just check whether your sd card directory is in 4ext

May be problem is that he is formated SD card from pc so necessary files to read the SD card is also not available...
That's why phone was unable to find that zip....
This is my reason I don't know what is actual ... But may be I am right in this scenario...

First off, why are they PMing you about it, and second, it was working fine for me.
Now I have more junk to fix. Great.
And I am working on a sense 4 Rom it gets to the boot animation so I'm really close to getting a sense 4 Rom. Don't ever hold your breath though because xda is unpredictable, so is school.
