Just a heads up- I lost my tether via the toggle widget workaround.
I tried a few including foxfi but none are working.
Has anyone found a solution?
Can I flash back to the previous firmware?
thanks for your help!

You renamed it to framework-res.apk, then copied the new framework-res.apk first on /system then changed permissions for framework-res.apk to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644), before moving it (not copying, this is important) to /system/framework correct? And system was mounted r/w?

So curious, why does Verizon keep wanting to block/deny the WiFi tether, yet USB is still completely unaffected nor cared about?

Yeah that makes the most sense, for tablet users. But the biggest data offenders users would be the ones that tether to pc for home net usage.
Its just kinda frustrating that I pay for xxGB per month and on-top of that they want more to tether ya know? I mean this would be a great way for them to make MORE money by allowing the unlocked tether on stock phones. The users would probably keep going over and that would mean more $$ for big red.
I wonder what percentage of users are still on unlimited, I cant see it being anymore then say 10%.

If you are on the share plans tethering is included free. You should need to pay anything extra. Unlimited plans and the regular 2/30 plans are a different story

Man I learned this back in the iPhone Jailbreak iOS 3.x days (thousands of years ago)... never ever update until you know everything you have will work just as expected. Chances are either a loophole will be patched or you won't be able to jailbreak/root your phone again for a couple of months.
Question, is there an official tethering plan for unlimited 4G Verizon users? And is the tethering also unlimited?

Can someone tell me if these are correct steps:
1. Rename the N3-framework-res.apk to framework-res.apk
2. Copy the framework-res.apk to /system
3. Change the permission for framework-res.apk to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644).
4. Move the file to /system/framework
Two questions:
1. How to change permission?
2. How to mount the system to r/w?
Thanks

I can confirm this does NOT work. The app doesn't even copy update.zip to my SD card. I was able to pull the zip file from unzipping the apk, however it fails signature when I do the recovery step.
give it a day or two at the max after tomorrow. I'm betting by the weekend this phone will be rooted and fully open for ROM's and whatever your heart desires.
I for one wouldn't trust a one click root that wasn't specifically made for the fascinate itself.
The app would need to be able to "handshake" with the device, so without specific parameters, no way this could work- unless of course designed for Galaxy S and any "custom" efforts VZW may have asked HTC to add.

He didn't use any fix, my friend.. The one click root doesn't work on the Fascinate.
That root method won't work on the Fascinate, as it needs signed update.zip files for recovery mode. Same as the Epic. Bit meh, really. The Epic root method seems to work though, sortof.
As far as the OCLF lag fix, it should work fine once you have rooted using other methods. I'm guessing the Fascinate is using RFS, so it probably would speed up your device.

Its honestly about how much data you end up using, if you go crazy and start using 50gb then they will want to switch you.
They give warnings before they do anything and they are starting to throttle people after a certain point.
You can try this for USB Tethering - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424676
He claims to found a way to hide it but they still know how much data you use.
Basically, don't use a desktop browser. It's one of the #1 ways to get the tether police on your ass. People are getting nastygrams after only using the "desktop useragent" feature of Dolphin HD 2-3 times.
Otherwise, native tethering (remove TetheringManager2.apk if on a stock ROM) works best. Only one that isn't adhoc.
OK. So I was in iHell for a few years and got pretty good with the file system/ jailbreaking. So I've since been paroled (from Jail-breaking :l ) and PRESTO!!! Im a noob again.
Im still debating on flashing but im gonna root for sure. I need to check my facts here. I can root via any mentioned method. I'll need to install titanium (?) to freeze that network check to use the native hotspots. (The name of that file escapes me but I can search it up later)
Anything else for now? Is busybox worth it?
On a semi-related note, I've not had multiple ROMs available to me. What's the benifit to other Roms? I mean what does CM have that stock doesn't? Is there a break down or spread sheet to compare capabilities?
This may sound goofy, but I can already do everything that I wanted my old iPhone to do on stock, but if flashing will bring more, cooler, and
as yet unimagined toys to my newly Android enriched life, I'm all about flashing. What say you XDA?
Sorry for the long post. Caffeine makes me type a lot.

Well follow the guide inn general about how to flash custom binaries, it'll help. Also, most rooms take care of the tetheringmanager2.apk sup you don't need to do anything else, it works out of the box. Make sure to use a mobile user agent while browsing, and you should be fine.
As a starting point, I suggest unnamed or icscrewed (both roms I've personally tried and that both are great)
The most common side effect of having a custom ROM is the desire to show it off, awesome battery life, good support and limitless customization. Just read before you do anything and you'll be golden.

I havent been able to find any concrete evidence saying one way or the other.
First is it possible to run Xposed on a rooted GS4 from Verizon?
Second what are the requirements for running it aside from requiring root access?
Currently I am using VRUAME7 with a 16Gb SD card formatted in exFat (never changed it after rooting).

I figured as the popularity of this phone grows, people will be wanting to find out about it. So I'll provide the links to that info.
History:
XDA started the G3 as one phone, but there were so many variables between the phones that they decided to divide us up into our respective G3 forums. Sprint, Att, Verizon, etc
So because this phone is so new, all the info is in the initial forum, LG G3
As we grow, this thread will become obsolete as all of our info will end up in our forum. But for now....
Root:
Sprint G3 root: Here
Bootloader/Unlock:
Get it Here
Another method to install it Here
Restore phone to factory fresh: LGFlashtool
This will restore your phone to factory fresh. The walkthrough below will also get your MSL for the ##RTN# dialer code
Make sure to thank wolfgart for this.
HERE is the link to the thread with the .tot and directions.
HERE is a walk thru that works for Sprint. Thanks to fergie716

Check out the pricing guide on the gentoo wiki. In reality getting free tethering is usually as simple as changing a hidden setting via sql that tells the phone to tether without checking for a data plan. This is only possible with root. I did this on my g2

I believe they were referring to Wi-Fi tethering. On a side-note, I don't understand why people want AllCast and similar apps -- I'd rather be able to send all my audio or my screen to a remote player. Like on my HTC One, "Media Output," allowed me to play Spotify or anything my phone played through headphones -- on my various DLNA receivers in the house. I've found a few apps that can sort of mimic this, but they require root to access the audio stream.
You can try using Connectify (google it) and while sharing your Internet to your phone using Foxfi or PdaNet over usb, use Connectify to share it using your Laptop's wifi.
Just an idea, but it seems it might work.
