I recently got my hands on samsung galaxy s5831i cell phone with android version 2.3.6 and had noticed that the phone vibrates every time while typing. I have search the settings and tried different options to disable the vibration while typing. I even searched online about disabling it and came to know that the option is called HAPTIC FEEDBACK and should be disabled but the problem is that I just can't find that HAPTIC FEEDBACK OPTION in the settings. plz help

First which keyboard your using if it is custom then go to is setting's and disable Vibrate on key-press
And about Haptic feedback is under Custom Rom Settings so if your using any custom Rom so search in its setting.

How to turn ON vibration only for voice calls ?

I really dont get those idiots at Sony, why cant I have vibration only for calls and not for SMS and e-mails ? There are options like never, always, with sound and without sound but there is no separate option for notification vibration ! I actually want to turn off vibration for Viber because those developers dont care about customers requests at all, there is that stupid notification when you receive new message even when you write a reply and of course, not a word about different notification or vibration ON/OFF in Viber settings, bravo for those dudes.
So, my question is, can I somehow leave vibration for calls and turn it off for notifications ? Galaxy S II has that, are they so much smarter than Sony people ? I would expect that kind of stupidity on iPhone but this should be a lot more customizable platform and I can tell after 6 months with Galaxy S II that Samsung could be the king of Androids, this Sony has a few things that I cannot believe that they have it released without it.
Tnx
You can disable sms vibration from sms settings and for emails

I think you could use Lightflow to do that.
I am using Lightflow to create my own notifications (led color, speed, sound, vibration (and patterns). Works very well!
Please dont make jokes I have one thread in Apps department saying that Lightflow does not work on my phone :-/ Can you tell me step-by-step how to install this app ? I have installed it, gave it acessibility and test works but for notification I get default color and sound. I have no root and my bootloader is not unlocked.
Tnx
(Please note: I have rooted my phone since the beginning and never tried Lightflow without root! But ofcourse you can just try the following steps. I hope it works for you!)
What I did to configure lightflow:
- Install Lightflow, very simple from Google Play;
- Enable it in Accessibility;
- Turn off vibration completely in the phone settings menu > sounds;
- Turn off default tones in the phone settings menu > sounds;
- Open Lightflow, choose the program and the way you want to let it notify you.
Works perfect!
Thanks a lot, now I think that it works, I needed to make factory reset of the phones settings and that what you have said, I have no root. BUT this damn Viber still has his default vibration and sound, is there a way to disable his notification and use LightFlow ?
Tnx

[Q] Galaxy s3 Haptic Issue

Hi everyone!
Short question. I've got a galaxy s3, so far a great phone!
Vibrate and haptic feedback works when i press the back or menu button. But i cannot seem to get it to work when i touch the screen. i.e. touching an icon on the screen does not create the haptic feedback that i'm used to.
Is this a normal thing or an error/bug?
Uhm you can turn on this function
Yeah..you mean the haptic option under settings - sound?
It enables the haptic feedback for the back and menu button. But not the touches on the screen itself.
that function will be implemented into roms and anyways its not needed it just sucks battery
So, short answer is that it's not a default option on the galaxy?
It's been a long time since i've had a stock rom so i don't know any better

not on my original sgs wasnt a feature
Same Issue(Resolved)
Well i had the same issue and the solution was pretty simple for me. Turn off power saving mode.
same problem but nothing seems to work
ok I have the same problem; haptic feedback not working and neither is vibrating on notifications, some vibrations working. The problem showed up like 1 week ago, without having installed anything special that day (can't remember if I installed anything at all that day).
My device (sgs3 I9300) was when the problem appeared on Paranoid android 3+, now it's on some cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly build.
what i've tried: going through all the settings, sound manager, turning off all vibrations the rebooting then turning them all on then rebooting again, changing rom (incl. factory reset of course), reading all kinds of threads about such problems.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 - Jelly Bean Update - Vibrate on Screen Tap

Hey guys,
First up apologies if I'm breaking any rules but I'm new to this. Anyway, I have an international unlocked version of the S3 and I just got my Jelly Bean update today. While everything seems to be working fine, I've encountered two problems. Firstly, whenever I visit the stock e-mail app the screen seems to go dim very drastically (im on auto-brightness) and I don't remember it being like this during ICS.
Secondly, I've seem to lost my "Vibrate on Screen Tap" option. Which means while I still have my ripple effect available for my lockscreen, I no longer have the vibration to go with it which is something I grew quite fond of. So I was wondering if these are problems specific to my mobile or everybody as well?
I wondered about the exact same thing until I decided to go through all the menu options and discovered that the phone had put itself in power saving mode. Disabled that and screen vibrate is back again

Yea I faced the issues as well. Dsicovered that once you disabled powersaving mode, when you access the email app, it won't dim anymore. Hope Samsung will fix this issue in the next update.

(Q) Vibration Notifications for Gmail, Facebook, Hangouts etc. will not turn off

My Verizon S4 is set to vibration mode (sound turned down/off)
In the options for gmail, facebook, and hangouts I have notifications turned on, but the vibration is off (unticked), BUT I still get vibrations when an incoming email, message, or notification comes along.
Anyone know how to override this issue? Are there external apps that can fix it? I only want my phone to vibrate when I get phone calls or text messages.
I have searched and found nothing.
Does no one else have this problem? It's driving me nuts!
I have the issue but mine only affects my enhanced Email app running Yahoo. Going to try uninstalling that and just use default email app, see if that helps.
Anybody find a solution to this yet????

I'm thinking that the sound/vibrate settings in Settings may be overriding this, but don't know why?

because you have it in vibration mode. all notifications are vibrate when in vibration mode, even when you have vibration turned off in the apps.

I was thinking that may be what is happening.....
It never used to do this on the Galaxy S4, whoever finds a fix for this I will love forever!
This is not a bug but an annoying change Google made as of Android 4.2. Basically anything with a notification is supposed to vibrate when the phone is in vibrate mode regardless of the app setting although the app needs to support it. There is no fix but CM10.1 has the ability to revert this behavior.

Sorry for digging up this Thread, but this is not acceptable for me.
My S3 is always on Silent/Vibrate - Mode. In this case, Hangouts isn't usable for me. I have to disable all hangouts notificitaions, or my phone would vibrate almost all of the time.
So, is there any workaround available, so far?
I've allready tried to revoke permissions for vibration from hangouts and G+ via "App Settings" (Xposed module), but that didn't work. :/
Any solution would be great. Otherwise I have to go back to 4.1.2.
Best regards,
Marcus

You can try to manually turn off the vibration in the sound settings. settings<my device<sounds<vibration intensity
Change the slider of anyone of them that needs to be changed (from what I can tell you just want the notification vibration to be turned off so slide that one all the way to the left).
Let me know how this go.
Thx for your reply. But this will turn off Vibration for all notifications, won't it? I just want to turn it off for Hangouts because I receive lots of messages there and it's pretty annoying to have a phone on your pocket, that is vibrating all the time. I also have an app, that comes along with the OmegaROM, called "Notifications Mangaer" But changes there doesn't take effect. :/
Best regards,
Marcus

That is the only way I know, other than the notifications manager. I know what you means too, I also hate the annoying vibration all the time and it waste battery life. I got tired of looking for a way around it and just turned off the notification vibration.
Sad to hear... But I won't surrender. This is not acceptable for me. There must be a way to disable vibration on Hangouts even if enabled in system settings. I'll hang on it and let you know as soon as I found a solution . Thx, so far.
Best regards,
Marcus
I have the same problem so I just hav the notifications that I want to vibrate set to vibrate all the time and hangouts not to, then I put my volume at 1.

Thats not bad as an temporarily soliution. It hits me on an idea:
Lets perfection this and create a 1s long, silent track and set it as ringtone. That should work as well.
But even this cant be the final solution. There must be a way to prevent hangouts from vibrating, although global settings force vibration. It worked in the past as well, so why not on above 4.1.2 versions?
Same problem with S5 Mini
I got the same problem on m S5 Mini - it's driving me crazy! Why should I want apps to vibrate in vibration mode, when i don't want the to vibrate in general - when I turn off vibration in the app settings?!
I wake up every night because of notifications from facebook or emails..
I just want whatsapp and phone calls to vibrate!
I came from HTC devices (Desire, Sensation, Sensation XE) and never had this problem before.
It's also annoying that I can't change the notifications volume together with the ringtone volume, but have to seperately adjust the slider
Any solutions without root would be great

[Q] disable haptic feedback completely

Hi I couldn't find an answer anywhere including other phones. What I want to do is remove vibration feedback completely ( plug phone in) if its possible also have a p769 if that's of any relevance am rooted. Also to clarify I am not talking about the keyboard feedback this is beyond that. Thanks for your time.
I'm also looking for solution for this problem. I hate it when mobile vibrates even on notifications!
It was fine with ICS but JB has no option for disabling vibration completely.
you can disable in Cyanogenmod also . but no way to disable on stock jelly bean.
