My phone is rooted, TWRP installed. The updates use to have the option to "Install Later", but now that option is gone. The only option is to Download. I tried using Android Tuner and System Tuner to disable the notifications, but I get the message "Failed to disable option" when I deselect the checkbox next to the update notification.
Any ideas?

You get the "Install Later" option only after downloading .
GravityBox from XPosed Framework also has an ongoing notification blocker.

That doesn't help me at all... Even after downloading the 133mb update, the notification still exists. I don't want to download the update, I want to disable the notification entirely.

First, disable update checks in Settings. Then clear data for Updater in Settings. Reboot. See if that works.

There is no place in Settings > Updates to disable updates. Running JB 4.1

Are you sure?
Should be Settings -> System Updates -> HTC software update. There should be a box to uncheck for automatically checking for updates. You're saying that isn't there?

What rom are you running? Most devs disable HTC Software updates from the System updates section. You can find it in the stock Rooted rom, and some others.

Hey there guys. Quick question. I can't seem to find an option to install non-market apps (or Untrusted apps) on Senseless ROM 2.0 ICS. Been up and down the settings. Nothing. Anyone have any clue? I'd appreciate it.

i have this rom and i see unknown.
you should re-install if you can't find it.
Also, when you go to install an apk, it should bring up dialog that will take you to the page to set that
Updated to ICS Asiaretail using the following link. However the System Updates option is disabled in the About Phone menu Help pls ?
Update : I did a re-installation from scratch. It seems the "System Updates" option is initially enabled. However when I installed all the apps using TiBu, the option became disabled again

Also same here with Leak firmware(offical 4.0.4). Option was there after manual update but when I connect Wifi and 3g it was disabled.
I don't accept OTA Updates. Is there any way to turn off the notification from the notification bar permanently? I've looked around in all of the phone's settings but I can't find a setting. Maybe I'm just missing it?
I've never seen a setting for that either

Settings > apps > updater > clear data :: No update available message.
I'm not saying to delete updater, but try "uninstalling".

Thanks. That at least got rid of the notification. I'm guessing I'll probably have to do that every time I reset my phone if I don't uninstall the updater.
My Z2 forcefully started the update from .570 to .575. I would like to cancel the update but have no option to.
When connecting to any wi-fi/data connection it automatically resumes.
I'm currently on 570 firmware, rooted with recovery and do not wish to update to 575 as I will lose recovery and root!
How can I manually remove the update? What must I remove in Root Explorer?
Thanks.
actually even the download completed , it will not update because u have root
don not worry
if you want to cancel the auto. update , go to About phone - Software update and select setting from the menu and cancel the auto. update

In the ''About phone'' menu, software update is missing, it is not there!
On the top of the screen I still have the notification ''Xperia system update'' followed by pending Wi-Fi network to continue.
Is there not another way to simply remove the update and stop it from continuing?
you can try go to settings, aplications, all, see app Update Software and Force Close
you can freeze software update with titanium backup

I have Titanium backup but I forgot about freezing the app. Thanks for reminding me to do so! ''System Update'' service now frozen!
Another option was - Disable app in Settings / App/ All /Update service app.
I'm using a semi-stock rom that's been debloated and rooted and a bunch of extra junk....there was a new update released recently and my phone is wanting to update. What's the preferred way to stop the system from trying to update and get rid of the download and notification?

Remove the Update Center app.
It's located in /system/priv_app/Update_center(-release).apk
use any System Application Disable App from playstore, browse for software update , and disable it ..
i.e. if you don't wana remove / delete system component
