Confirmed Root that also works on MK2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Took OTA from MJ7. Lost root and re rooted with Vroot.

The people that make that software claim to be a real company.
The website points to other ROM and unlock related services.
Still don't know how much I trust the method.
One thing remains though, if you don't tell what the hole is, they can't plug it.
So far, they haven't disclosed the hole and Samsung and VZW, at least didn't plug it with this latest release.
I'm still not upgrading to MJ7 so for me this isn't an issue.

I trust it, I used it a while back and the Chinese haven't taken over my phone yet...

I hate to say "what are they hiding" but how much extra time could it take Samsung to reverse-engineer Vroot? A whole workday? I'm sure it's a genuine part of the Vroot's team's ethos, I just don't think it holds that much water.

There's a better root method that works for MJ7 and MK2.

That's great! Where's the source code for their technique? Does it now work with the network turned off? If not, why not?

Is it possible to Odin back versions? I have been under the impression, especially with mk2, that if you do so it hard bricks the device?

This has been asked and answered hundreds of times on this forum.
There is no way to downgrade to an older version.
You WILL soft-brick your phone if you try it.
Even so, there's already people who upgraded to MJ7 and tried to install the MI1 root and watched their phone brick.
And there's no way for them to recover since there's no factory install image for MJ7 yet.

SCH-i545 Verizon GSIV - Stock from Root MK2

Hi All!
I rooted my Galaxy S4 on Verizon earlier today (well, attempted to) with VRoot. It worked, but everything was really sluggish so I attempted to flash back to the stock Samsung ROM. I discovered that since I was running 4.3 with the MK2 OTA, I can't flash a previous version. I can't find a copy of the MK2 ROM anywhere. Does anyone here have any suggestions or maybe a link to the MK2 ROM for the i545 on Verizon?
Thanks!

There are several ways to root the mk2 version but both vroot and kingo have been deemed unsafe by the xda mods, in the development thread there is however a root method for mj7 that does in fact work with mk2. also im gonna warn you before hand that there is no custom recovery available for the mk2 or mj7 versions of the gs4.

If your talking About flashing custom ROMS/recovery's, then no, and if you attempt to do either it most likely will result in a brick. However a Dev by the name of Hashcode, is currently working on making safestrap compatible with MJ7 & MK2. I hope that helps clear up some things.

You ONLY can go backwards from MK2 to MJ7. You seem to be interpreting this as being able to go back from MK2 to anything, and that's not the case.
Both of those releases only allow custom ROMs using Safestrap, and both support the same ROMs. There's no point in downgrading to MJ7.

Rooting can be done using Saferoot and framaroot and others.
But be advised as said previously. . This will not allow you to have a custom recovery like TWRP, Philz or CWM and install custom roms! Unless it has a unlocked bootloader. As of now theres no simple friendly way to do this anymore. Only solution is to have mobiletechvideos downgrade your chip and send it out to them for a service fee. There highly recommended on here for doing this. Hopefully a fix will be released soon as many people are working on this.
Good luck

From what I read, if the app is not one of the pre-installed apps that comes with the ROM then the app will not have permission to freely access the SD card. There is an App to fix this in the Play Store but I think the app needs root. This really sucks. Hey guys I have been out of this for a while. I just got a replacement phone from verizon and it has NC5 build and not an mdk build. I cant seem to find a root for it. Is there one? also what steps should I do before rooting?
