SCH-i545 Verizon GSIV - Stock from Root MK2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi All!
I rooted my Galaxy S4 on Verizon earlier today (well, attempted to) with VRoot. It worked, but everything was really sluggish so I attempted to flash back to the stock Samsung ROM. I discovered that since I was running 4.3 with the MK2 OTA, I can't flash a previous version. I can't find a copy of the MK2 ROM anywhere. Does anyone here have any suggestions or maybe a link to the MK2 ROM for the i545 on Verizon?
Thanks!
Ross

Got it fixed. Used Kies to download MK2 and reflash. All is now well. Still have the file if anyone else needs it.

There are several ways to root the mk2 version but both vroot and kingo have been deemed unsafe by the xda mods, in the development thread there is however a root method for mj7 that does in fact work with mk2. also im gonna warn you before hand that there is no custom recovery available for the mk2 or mj7 versions of the gs4.

If your talking About flashing custom ROMS/recovery's, then no, and if you attempt to do either it most likely will result in a brick. However a Dev by the name of Hashcode, is currently working on making safestrap compatible with MJ7 & MK2. I hope that helps clear up some things.

How did you use Kies to download MK2 when you while rooted?

I have the Verizon S4... I took the OTA and updated to MK2. I then rooted using Saferoot.
All is good ...
Now.. Is the recovery unlocked? or do I need Safestrap Recovry to get ROMs on this?
Please advise.
Thanks!

A little help rooting mk2 via safe root. I've been rooted since me7 to mi1 to mj7. I flashed no wipe mj7 via Odin to take the ota mk2. Problem is the install bat closes as soon as I try to execute it. Drivers are correct Kies and Odin recognize my phone. Any suggestions?

That's caused by a defect in the install script that I introduced when trying to add more prompting to help people connect. Re-download and it should be OK.

Thanks re downloading now

Re downloaded script worked like a charm. it errored out on busy box install but titanium verifies I have busy box installed. Great work on the exploit as well as the bat file. Thanks again, I was about to lose my mind

What is link to mk2 stock file?

I can't confirm but it has been said that mk2 is backwards compatible. Flash mj7 stock via odin. Then ota back to mk2. I know it's a long way around but it's worth looking into.

You ONLY can go backwards from MK2 to MJ7. You seem to be interpreting this as being able to go back from MK2 to anything, and that's not the case.
Both of those releases only allow custom ROMs using Safestrap, and both support the same ROMs. There's no point in downgrading to MJ7.

The people that make that software claim to be a real company.
The website points to other ROM and unlock related services.
Still don't know how much I trust the method.
One thing remains though, if you don't tell what the hole is, they can't plug it.
So far, they haven't disclosed the hole and Samsung and VZW, at least didn't plug it with this latest release.
I'm still not upgrading to MJ7 so for me this isn't an issue.
I trust it, I used it a while back and the Chinese haven't taken over my phone yet...

I hate to say "what are they hiding" but how much extra time could it take Samsung to reverse-engineer Vroot? A whole workday? I'm sure it's a genuine part of the Vroot's team's ethos, I just don't think it holds that much water.
There's a better root method that works for MJ7 and MK2.

[Q] I'm on stock mk2 i want to update to newest + root

Hello guys, I am on stock mk2, 4.3 with root, and I just downloaded safetrap 3.71 haven't installed it. Im familiar with flashing via twrp, however Im not sure which method to use. There are alot of different methods from downgrading to upgrading. What is my best option? Will i need to update modem+kernel?
i can only recommend visiting my thread and downloading 1 file upgrade. either the Complete Package which has all the apps modems modules ect you'll need or just the NC2 or NC5 1 file upgrade you flash in Odin 3.10 for the safest and easiest upgrade possible since your already on 4.3 rooted with safestrap then you don't really need to worry about downgrading as you shouldnt have to downgrade. Just avoid OTA/Full System Odin Flashes and well anything with bootloaders in them... at least thats what I'd do if I was you

why is it bad flashing this OTA? Also just from reading posts, if I flash full nc5+root i had to flash modem + patches? or am I incorrect? This phone is going to be for someone else, So i want to stick with stock + root as much as possible. One key feature it must have is wifi tethering.
Also, what method are you suggestion I use in your post. method1 or method2?

That's the way I did it (munoz_ri's I545_MK2toNC4_KeepRoot), starting with clean MK2. One small flash and a reboot and it's done.
If you're starting at MK2, that's the fastest way to go.
If you're starting at NC5, use Surge1223's or Gigilie's upgrade. techguy2002's directions are easier to follow than Gigilie's IMHO.
Here's some very well written instructions for gigilies method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769480

There currently is no native root method for NC5 but you can downgrade partially back to MK2 and gain root.
Read through this thread and really take your time and make sure you do all the steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868

Yea this is crazy. I finally got it to install hyperdrive but am having problems with that bot being able to get back I into safestrap on reboot to install wife and super super fix

need to upgrade to KK

Ok so I am not even sure what the build number is, it seems to be missing from the list (see the SS's). But I think it is the same as the baseband? MJ7. I am on Hyper 15 and would like to upgrade but am completely lost, there are way to many posts about root this version and that version and upgrade and downgrade and I don't even remember what threads i looked at or what all I did to get rooted in the first place. And now I see there is this brand new root method if your already on KK. Would it be easier to load up the stock from safestrap then upgrade and re-root?
Can anyone give me a step by step?

[Q] Custom Recovery wont Load

I have an SCH-i545 and It was recently on NK1, I downgraded to NC5 and used towelroot. Did a factory wipe from the recovery, but now I cant get either TWRP or CWM to load? It only uses the stock samsung/verizon recovery, and this is not letting me flash any custom rom. Did I miss a step somewhere? I've got SuperSU installed aswell.
