After installing CM 10 ( 4.2.2) with the hope of playing softly mkv files, i found difficult to play any without image freezing. Previously i tried onto CM 10.4 and 10.5 with the same results. I have used default player, mx player.

Do you mean frame drop or total freezes?
Are these 1080p files? (tegra2 hardware is limited on high bitrates if using hardware. On software, it misses Neon instructions).
Also.. There is no CM 10.4 or 10.5 (4.2.2 is CM10.1)

Anyone encountering issues using Miks ROM using MOBO player?? It was recommended on his thread (use MOBO player) but somehow every time I use it to play divx /xvid videos I'm just getting an audio with no video. No issue's with other file format though.
***By the way I'm using 6.5.4 the stable one Franco's latest kernel v17 BFS
Anyone of you guys recommend other player aside from MOBO. I tried to use YX player but its not compatible with Miks ROM.
Try to force kill mob player
And play the divx movies
I am using that since from 3months with milk os
This will be fine
Otherwise reboot the phone

Thanks! I will try that see if it works.
My nook is currently rooted and i have mobo player and mxplayer installed but none would play my thor 720p mkv rip without small lag.
I used to use moai as well until I learned about MX video player and now I use that one.

Mx video player is the best ive found.

for me, it still stutters, maybe using a non mkv format would be better?

Hi!
Flash my ROM - M12-ROM v9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445087
There are films played without lag, at least a few people are this confirmed
For me videos still lag a littlebit time to time, quickPic has it's own player as well and works pretty good!
I use MX Player.
It has been the fastest among all the players for me.
And you will obviously lag if you are playing a 480p+ video on Galaxy 3.
Vlc rocks dude!
Haven't experienced any lags since i started using vlc player.Plays any type of video just like the pc version.
Don't know about subtitles.
Have you checked the sync of subtitles on pc first?

In the default video player when ever i play the video ( in vertical holding)in generally the video should align to the middle but mostly of the time(8 out of 10 times) it is aligning to the top .
I started observing this after the recent official update ,is there any solution for this ?, Does any one of you have the same issue ?
Try clearing the application data of the video player or download a better video player: MX Player.

MX Player is the best use it
Using an alternative video player isn't solving the issue though is it? MX Player solves the problem but doesn't look as polished as the stock player.
I've had the same problem as the OP since flashing different ROMs, it certainly wasn't a problem before. There is also the same problem with YouTube in portrait mode.
Have tried clearing data and factory reset but to no avail.
It is frustrating to say the least...

I also had the same problem. And I belIeve the camera app also had the same problem...I did fix the problem....flash the fastest Rom again and problem solved.
Have tried the latest stock ROM this morning and issue still present. It is however only present on AVI files, not mp4.

Any solution apart from installing a different ROM? Youtube gives me this problem. Quite annoying.
Ok, I have searched a lot on the internet and couldn't find and couldn't find a explanation to my problem. The thing is the I can't get my device to use the H/W decode on HD videos, I have tried a lot of softwares mx player, v player, dice player. I can watch a video that uses the 700x400 for example and the same encoded video in 1280x720 doesn't play, all that come out is sound. In both cases I am using the H/W... I have seem a lot of people saying that HD video works flawless on galaxy s2 if it isn't 10 bit encoded, so I am at a loss here, the S/W one is pretty laggy on my HD videos, that is why I won't use it...
Any leads?

I suppose you're using a non - sammy based custom rom, something like Cyanogenmod, due to Samsung closed source driver's h/w decoder won't properly work on Aosp Roms.

sorry forgot to tell it was on the oficial rom.

I just played 'Hobbit an Unexpected Journey' 1080p on my device, resolution 1920x800,frame rate 23.9, bit rate 2.0Mbit/sec . And it worked flawlessly. So try flashing a different stock rom.

Could you post a highly( just 30 seconds would be enough) trimmed version of the file you're trying to play. Usually all types of hd mkv's has worked flawlessly for me (even in Cyanogenmod.. Lol). If you could, post it in a zip file here.

Yes, I reproduced your same problem, as I thought that particular file encoding is not properly supported(h/w gives audio only, and s/w gives lags) normal 1080p, HD mkv's do play perfectly though just checked it out, If you wanna play that video just use a converter and create a lossless mp4, that should work fine anyway.
