I don't know if you've heard but GTA San Andreas is out for Android next week (It is out for iOS now). I think I will be buying it straight away if its around ₤5 because it is my favourite GTA of all time.
How do you think it will run on our Nexus 10's? I am currently playing GTA3 on the Nexus 10 and it runs OK everything maxed. Having seen some footage from the iOS version of the game, San Andreas is heavily upgraded graphically from the PS2 days.
Any way I am so looking forward to this release. I hope it doesn't cripple the Mali t 604.
Cheers.
ok?
think you should wait for a youtube video and some reviews.
but you seem generally excited. Go for it.
Careful mate....according the XDA "mods" you are not allowed to ask a question or phrase a question of any kind in the "general" section. Better \ rephrase that title quick before they come crying.
Vice city played great on my nexus 10 so I'm going San Andreas will too. I use a ps3 controller with six axis and it works real nice since the touch screen is a bit awkward

Just says 'next week'. At least it isn't too far away
I have seen some footage from the iPad Air on You Tube and it looks laggy as hell. Not sure what is up there? Not sure if that is good or bad for us Nexus 10 er's.
Waiting with baited breath for the Android version regardless!

Well it's the first release. There should be updates making it smoother. Maybe it'll be good on the nexus 10 if they fix whatever's wrong with the iPad version so the android version won't have the same bugs. But for some reason I don't it

I have just had another scoot on You Tube for some more videos and actually it runs good on the Air. Maybe the other video I saw were the performance was so so may have been on a ipad 3 or the 2. On the iPhone 5s it looks amazing. Conversely the iPhone 4 with a single core runs garbage.
Come on Rockstar don't let me down!
On another note has anyone played 'The Room'? Downloaded it today but haven't played it much yet. It was game of the year 2012 on iOS. Looks sweet on the N10.
Anyone got it to work on the N10? Mine keeps crashing right after the loading screen...
There is a new update now. It is 1.03. What version are you running?
I think I will wait until all this madness passes. What a balls up by Rockstar releasing a GTA game that crashes on 100% of Android devices.
I will download it tomorrow.
Hopefully it runs good because I saw a video of it running on a Note 2 (Mali 400) and its was running smooth.
Cheers.

The latest update solved the issue. San Andreas is running smooth on the N10...:good:
Battery is draining really fast so I am considering buying the pogo cable now. Can I recharge the N10 via pogo pins while using a usb gamepad?

I have the 1.02 version and runs smoothly. I'm playing with a thrustmaster controller and there is no major problem. The only thing I don't like is that I can't change the buttons, I wanted to set them like on Xbox.
I downloaded the game and I must say I am disappointed. If you look at the iPad Air version there is anti aliasing just like there is AA in GTA3 Android version. But SA is full of jaggies. Totally spoils the game for me. Why can't it be an option in the settings to enable this or not? I'm sure I read that the Mali t-604 does 'free' AA in its hardware. The release was a **** up as well. It is now 2.3 GB with the added on file that was needed to fix the game.
Bottom line is the game just feels rushed for Android. I feel a little ripped off after spending ₤5 on it. I should have just reinstalled it for my PC and downloaded a hi res texture pack and saved ₤5.
Please up your game Rockstar!
Using the usb xbox360 gamepad I am enjoying the game so far but I wonder how to access the map via the pad? Always having to tap the display is quite annoying... Also it seems, that it's not possible to just aim at people (not shoot them) via gamepad as well...
I'm a fan of GTA but also learned the hard way to play big_boy games on a big_boy pc

For those of you who have it working I have a question.. Is it REALLY worth the $4.99!? Ive been spoiled by .99c games. Honestly I doubt I purchase it just because of that. But if Im missing out and NEED to play this game could any body offer a brief explanation why? I have read about the game already but would like to hear from someone who is playing on an Atrix. Thanks ahead of time.

i bought it yesterday, but didn't play it for very long. it's a pretty fun game, and the controls were really intuitive. it's exactly how you would want to control a fps on a touch screen, left side of the screen for moving and right for camera.
the graphics were pretty amazing for a smartphone, i was impressed. and i didn't experience any sort of lag, which was even better (using the 1.0ghz enhanced kernel CM7)
i'd say it's worth the 5 dollars, i only got about half an hour into it so far and was already satisfied with my purchase. the animations are all voice acted so far, gameplay is fun, and controls are great for a touch screen.
I highly recommend this game. Well worth the $5. The controls are much better than the gameloft FPS's that I've played and the graphics are amazing. When you compare the price to a console game it's a no brainer purchase.
On the gameloft shooters they kinda auto aim for you (sorta like goldeneye on n64) but on this game once you press the fire button you can move your finger and move your aim, like having dual joysticks. Also the left joystick appears wherever you put your thumb (on the left half of the screen) eliminating the problem of your finger missing the joystick.
The cover system is easy to use and works well. It's nice to have that instead of just having to run around shooting. The enemy AI isn't as good as many console games but miles ahead of other mobile shooters. Enemies will move from cover to cover, one will stick back while the other tries to flank you, etc.
There are a few very minor glitches here and there, but it runs very well on the atrix.
Well worth it...just be ready to kiss your battery byebye

Definitely worth it,especially considering it'll get an update for multiplayer in the near future apparently (forgot where i read it but it was a legit source). And the game is great to play, it has great graphics and is very smooth and fast.

Also... Yesterday(?), there was an update available for the game. After installing it, the character was holding an invisible gun that shelled out little pink blocks. Apparently this was a pretty common problem. This was fixed by reinstalling the game after deleting /sdcard/Android/data/com.madfingergames.shadowgun

Sadly there is no way to make hdmi mirroring with the Atrix... Widescreen that is.
This game is great on both my Atrix and eee pad transformers. For anybody having glitches, just uninstall the game and reinstall. I had to do that on both devices afterthe update. Also for those who have an eee pad with dock, you can plug up an Xbox 360 controller and play the game like it is an Xbox 360 game, just loads faster.

I suck as FPS and I'm a sucker for eye candy, but I definitely think this is a 10/10. Very well polished game. Some FPS pros might get bored of it but I'm not good enough at the genre to make an informed decision lol

So, I bit the bullet and bought a Prime, I had talked myself out of it about 9 million times, was going to buy a used one from chin-a-ling (sorry mate) but my fiancee pushed me, and pushed me and I finally bought one... I am in love.
But the title says it all, I am wondering what the future is going to be. My hope is to end up being able to play Portal on this thing one day. With the fact that Bethesda has mentioned possible tablet ports of older titles, Valve has always been one to examine all unique possibilities. It would be incredible to be Chell running through the hall way, aiming and then tapping where I want the portal
Anyways, what does everyone else think? Looking forward to seeing what the major companies might do? Games you hope to see ported or even developed as a standalone counterpart from your favorite series?

I think tablet gaming especially on iOS has a bright future. Some of iOS's best exclusives have trickled their way to Android. But there is still a lot to be desired on the Android platform as far as games go. Currently EPIC is making fantastic games for iOS through ChAIR Entertainment. Hopefully they will one day embrace Android.
Well ios has infinity blade and usually gets games a bit earlier. That's about it IMHO.
Android has amazing emulators and most importantly full gamepad support.
There are also some really nice looking tegra3 exclusives coming. Definately infinity blade lvl of graphics.
I'd say the future is bright. Me personally I'm hoping for point and click adventures getting big on tablets. They perfect for touch control.
Gaming on tablets and Prime will be SICK! Just watch. Already amazed at the types of games I'm playing already. And I don't play b.s. ones like angry birds or whatever. Lol hardcore gamer here.
I used to be a hardcore gamer before I joined the Navy but after I got out I haven't had time with school, but I am a huge Portal/Half Life Fan, as well as a few of the other artsy FPS games e.g. Mirrors Edge. I KNOW the Tegra 3 can handle it, it is a matter of whether or not the big guys will believe in the future of tablet/mobile gaming. It is a growing segment of serious gamers, and I think that tablet ownership would increase as games become more innovative/complex.

No. Most of the games that "aren't compatible" with the Note would run fine. My Xoom runs these games flawlessly and it has the same resolution on a larger screen and isn't as powerful. The Note is plenty powerful enough and virtually all of those "incompatible" games can be made to work with relatively simple root changes and sideloading. Search around a bit and you can find info on it. N.O.V.A. 2 running on the Note is nothing new....
Good luck.

I tried changing the build.prop to show as the international version. It worked and allowed me to download the additional game data. Strangely modern combat 3 worked perfect but games such as 9mm and asphalt 6 didnt work correctly. Asphalt had a strange camera angle where you are shifted to the right so itz unusable and 9mm has a pink color on the start screen. Probably due to the different hardware. I downloaded the adittional data for Modern COmbat 3 and changed the build prop back to the att galaxy note. Atleast i got one "incompatible" game to work
This happened to me as well, emailed google 3 times but no reply yet...
I can't even find the game in the market anymore, or in my apps.

No, some game devs for some reason havent made their games compatible. Most games are compatible but a small number aren't. The few that aren't compatible should get updates soon.

I'm also pretty sure it's due to the 1080p screen. I've seen people with the Asus Transformer Infinity having the same problem. Probably Nexus 10 people too if we look at their forum.
I had the same problem today with a game that i wanted to pay with a friend. Lot of these developers including some big ones are lazy @$$es.
It was same when Note came out and even with many new phones.
Most of the games will work fine even with odd resolution if they are coded properly. Most of the games are. But lot of game devs put device ID checks in Play store. So basically they disable the install of games on new devices. Many times they take their own sweet time to enable the game install on specific device in the name of quality control / compatibility.
But if you have them installed on your older phone which is rooted and pull the APK and put it on the DNA or my Nexus 10, most games work just fine even with high resolution displays. Its just that devs fearing the -ve reviews or bad star ratings in play store stop you from installing the game. When that happens, I usually write to the devs. Many smaller devs actually listen and I found it very surprising that many write back enabling access soon in Play store. But these big game developers who ideally should take less time as they have bigger teams and staff at their disposal are the ones who take more time to do so.
Makes me angry. And I wish Google implements a mechanism where we can get our money back any time in the future by returning the license if our new phones get the incompatibility issues which go on for more than 15 days. There really needs to be something like this.
It does not happen to even new phones with new resolution displays. This thing happened when SGS3 launched, then again with Note 2 as well. Both these phones had traditional display resolution. Still devs disabled the install in play store for a while fearing -ve reviews.
Unless you develop games I don't think you have the right to make that statement...

I have every right to make that statement when I can run the game without problem by pulling apk from old phone on my device but it's install is blocked artificially.
This is not new phenomenon either. Has been happening a lot for year or two now. It's all because they are afraid of ratings.
If you go through the initial days of sgs3 and note as well as note 2 forums you will see discussions on this matter there.
Some game had genuine issues and rather than fix a minor issue some games and apps were blocked for weeks to months at time. But at least they had genuine issues. Many didn't. Some were blocked in the name of exclusivity. Thankfully they couldn't ignore popular Samsung devices for long. But I have seen some lesser known phones having issues for months with installs being blocked for no good reason. Had issues with oppo finder and xiaomi phones in past like this.
And it's usually smaller studios that tend to respond quickly to user complaints when it should ideally be other way around.
It should not take a big studio 3 months to unblock install or patch the game for a new device.
From my Note 2, right in your face....
1080p is the future. not the past. they will be compatible or the market will force them to.
Modern Combat 4 works if you download the apk and sdcard data seperate. If you've already bought the game, I wouldnt think it to be unethical. But I don't condone piracy. This is mot the case for the majority of games that are not available though.

Where do I start? I bought my One X+ with much fanfare a couple of weeks ago and was very excited. But today I'm thinking about selling it. Don't get me wrong it is not a bad device. It is probably the best looking phone I've ever used. It has got an awesome display and great build quality. That is where the good things end.
I bought the phone well aware of the fact that Tegra chip had problem with Gameloft games. I was OK with that I don't like Gameloft games too much. But this phone can't even play games like Temple Run, Rayman Jungle Run and quite a few less graphic intensive games. Today, I bought Prince Of Persia: The Shadow and Flame from Play Store as I'm a big POP fan. But to my absolute HORROR it ran terribly on my phone. The exact same game runs beautifully & flawlessly on brother's 2 year old Galaxy Nexus. My blood boiled. I did not pay about $450 for this. On top of that the battery is very, very erratic.
Don't get me wrong folks. I have tried everything in the book. I've tried every custom ROM, kernel, SCRIPTS for gaming, TEGRA Overclock APP in order the improve my experience. All this turned out to a be a waste of time and money.
So, here I am. I am seriously thinking about selling the phone and getting a used S3 for the moment. Atleast I would get me money worth with that. Your thoughts?
You can in extreme to flash a new Rom like CM or AOKP.... android 4.2 is more optimized fore graphic and for game....

I already tried Carbon ROM but it did not help. The experience should have been good out of the box especially when one has paid a good amount of money for a high end device such as this. Not everyone is comfortable flashing ROMs.

I believe the definition of lag differs for everyone. I compare it with my brother's 2 year old Galaxy Nexus which has now become obsolete.
Among the games you listed I had tried only Rayman Jungle Run - and I've got none of the problems you mentioned, runs fine without any lags whatsoever, completely smooth. Same goes for Carmageddon. I'm using InsertCoin 3.8.2 with elitekernel (and it's actually underclocked - restricted to 1,2ghz!). You might want to give it a try!
Flashed CM10.1 and played the same games. The performance improved a bit but still very unsatisfactory. Can I expect the official 4.2.2 update to improve anything?

Gameplay on HTC One X. The lag is very apparent from the beginning. Just terrible optimization.

Please play it on another, then get back to me. As I said earlier, the perception of lag differs for everyone.

I can't play it on another hox+ because I am the only one in my area with this device, but I have played it in my S2, Tab Plus and I know what you mean by lag I am a hard core gamer, I really have to say that for POP I experience no form of lag at all(not even the occasional hiccups) , haven't tried installing Gameloft games yet but will mention later after I try installing some. That said, I have had (very) minor lags with Horn(which by the way is optimized for tegra devices only) when I have lots of active apps running in the background, overall I am pretty satisfied with the performance given by the hox+ currently.

Tested out NFS and it worked flawlessly but I installed gamelofts The Dark Knight Rises which sadly did have lags.

I've been playing a couple of the games you listed including other very processing-intensive games such as Jelly Defense, GTA VC and Re-Volt Classic and I have basically no lag at all. I run them all with top FPS except in certain situations when particle density is too high.
I feel like there might be some hardware problem with your phone.
lol, send it to me

It was a joke... uhgggg, nevermind.
After a lot of contemplation, I decided to part with my One X+. I thought things would improve with the 4.2 update but I was wrong. But one thing's certain...if you're not gaming then this the best 'Value' phone in the market. The build quality is second to none and the Sense UI is tremendously intuitive.

bye :good:
I reckon you stick my latest test kernel on there. I'm really pleased with it. I'm playing asphalt 7 on just two cores, no lag, runs smooth, full graphics, doesn't get particularly hot. Still murders the battery though. I guess that's the large-screen drawback.
