Well it's not much of a guide if you all do is provide links to other people's guides. Actually the most complicated part, rooting the phone, is the only one you don't even include links for.
Of course I think the biggest issue with your whole guide is that the SCH-1545 is already Carrier Unlocked, so this is all completely unnecessary anyway.

well i get what your saying but iy wouldn't accept my att simcard before i did that method and its up and running, carrier unlock for overseas but not in the USA i try to make a better guide ok

I liked the swiftness and adequacy! Loaded to say the least.

The SCH-i545 is not simlocked. You can use any SIM that you want once you configure the APN.
There's no guarantee that any or all providers will work, since different providers use different bands. However, the agreement between VZ and the FCC requires that VZ not lock their phones.

Rooting for new 4.4.2 version of Verizon S4
Will this work for the new version of 4.4.2?

Can we unlock the GS2¿

Same question here. Mine will get here on Tuesday...I do know there are a bunch of methods to sim unlock i9100 though.
So... long story short, the GS2 still uses nv_data.bin files like on the GS1.
Of course, Samsung has encrypted/obscured plain text access to the unlock codes within this binary file. However, I do believe the folks over on the i9100 forum have figured it out, so it's probably not going to be too much of a stretch to get the AT&T GS2 to work too.
The phone literally just dropped though, so give people a few days to actually get the devices in their hands, get nice stable root and all that (already done maybe even), and from there, carrier unlock will come.
Or, if you're the impatient type, and don't mind the chance of screwing something up, try some of the methods from the i9100 forum and see if they work!
I used the galaxy s unlock app from helroz, worked like a charm. Can't post a link but it's on the market.

That's awesome. May I ask whether you had rooted your S2 before you ran the unlock program?
Thanks a billion.

Yup, rooting is required to unlock.
Sorry, I'm fairly new to the term "unlocking" phones. Does this mean that you can use with any carrier? Is there anything else that "unlocking" a phone does that a normal one can not?
Thanks in advance!

Benifets of unlocking?

So I just unlocked my phone and was wondering the benifets. I know that I can use other networks like ATT Rogers Bell etc. But can someone explain in detail what I can do?

That is all you can do when you "unlock" your phone. You remove sim card based carrier restrictions. Once unlocked you can take an att phone and put in a tmobile sim and it might work! But that's all it can do.
You might be thinking of giving your phone "root access" if you want to do more. Once you root a phone you can remove preinstalled software or bloat. You can install custom roms. You can enable tethering when you might not of before... and so on.....
Rooting and unlocking are two different things. I hope this answers your question.

I figured you knew what rooting was because you have a decent amount of posts. I just wrote it so anyone uneducated would understand a lil better.

What true is it!!!

I just got another mega, this time I got a Att version. I spoke with a customer service rep. and got my unlocked code bcuz I purchased full price, I ask her about bloats ect ect. Ok this is what she told me, once I have unlocked my phone I have full control of my phone.. Hmmm really? I dont know if she knew what i was talking about.. then I ask about secure bootlock portion of the phone, she reply once your unlocked you could do what ever you want...:what:
I have the unlocked code, how would i unlock the darn thing? every phone is different ways to do it.
I want to know if its true or not that once unlocked we can do what ever including custom rom...

What I think you got from her was the network unlock code, all that does is allow you to move to another provider using the same phone.
So whats the difference between network unlock and phone unlock?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using Tapatalk 4
Network unlock is as above ^, the bootlock you mentioned in your first post is there to stop you removing their software, it's not something that you can change with a code. You need to remove the boot lock before you can replace the os with a custom one. Before you attempt to do anything like this I advise reading up on it, you don't want to brick another phone. The information is easily found by using google search.
Roger that..lol yeap I dont want to do that again..

[Q] S4 woes

OK. I am going to provide as much detail as I can for now. Please let me know what additional information will help you help me. Thanks
I have a S4 for Verizon. I have been trying to root it so I can load the Google edition image on it. However, none of the tutorials I have seen seem to work on my device. I bought it brand new direct from Samsung off contract (didn't want to loose my unlimited data) so I don't think I can get a warranty replacement through Verizon (haven't rooted it yet). The furthest I seem to get is that SuperSU gets installed but will not download the binaries. So I cannot continue with the rest if the steps with rooting and re-imaging. Also, most steps have you install a specific kernal version as the first step but not sure if that is happening because my screen don't look the same as the ones in the tutorials.
Phone: SCH-1545
OS ver: 4.3
Kernal: 3.4.0
Build: JSS15J.1545VRUEMJ7
HW ver: 1545.06
Thanks.

Just so you know, the only thing available for MJ7 build is root. Installing a custom recovery or custom ROMs is not possible at this time.

Not with MJ7 firmware they aren't.
If you didn't buy a developer edition, you my friend, are screwed.

No. Once the phone is updated, there is no way to go back.
As I stated above, all we can do is root. With root we can debloat and use Xposed framework to make some changes.

That doesn't really accomplish what I want though. Not your fault obviously. Do you know if this is a Verzion thing or just the device itself? Thanks

It's Verizon, they lock down every phone they sell. You have to do research before you buy your phone if you want custom software on Verizon, or switch carriers.

I know Verzon sucks in that regard but the service is awesome. I get full 4G coverage just about everywhere and I've got unlimited data still. Plus, I didn't buy it from them, I payed full price from an online vendor so that I wouldn't have to change my contract.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for when someone finally cracks it.
I hate waiting....

Is there something wrong with VZN Note 2s?

Hi Guys,
I was looking to purchase this phone off of ebay for my mom. We are on the t-mobile network but since VZN Note 2s are supposed to be unlocked I was looking at them too. However, I'm looking at them and there are quite a few Verizon Note 2s around/under $200 on Ebay. Is that where the phones value is now? I thought they would be around $250 at least. The one thing all of these have in common are that they are the Verizon models. The tmobile models are still pretty high. Is there something wrong with this model? Are these like those fake chinese clones? Or is the value just at that and I should buy it ASAP? I don't want to throw money down for some random clone

Sorry, I'm still a bit of a noob, Does that just mean that custom software can't be installed on it? Like I said my mom is going to be using it so it will probably stay on stock.
Correct, no custom roms or root...depending on what version the phone comes with. What did you mean in your op when you said 'unlocked'?

aren't they unlocked to use sim cards since they are world phones? I know i have to change up the APN to get tmobile data but I don't need to put in random codes or anything right? I'm getting my info from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044449

Step one in that guide says 'ensure your phone has root' That is game over if the note 2 has the latest update. You can't root it.

What about Method 1? Or is that not possible at all cause its a custom rom?
Method 1:
See Adrynalyne's post below (Post #2) for a flashable mod (via custom recovery) that will enable the Add APN menu by removing Verizon's block. (For deodexed roms only)

That requires a deoxed rom, so the note would have to be bootloader unlocked and had a deoxed rom flashed.

Yes they are sim unlocked all you have to do is pop the sim in and add the correct apn's although you'll only get 3g and H+ (no 4G lte)

No offense to that guy but he's wrong bc I and many other put their Verizon note 2 on other carriers with no issues (see forums like note 2 on other carriers there plenty of them)
Now as far as the whole bootloader deal goes for custom rom and root depending on the android version but just to use it stock on another carrier it's sim card unlocked out of the box no root or custom rom needed
I had my Verizon note 2 with a locked bootloader android 4.3 on straight talk (att sim) for months no problems
