TWRP Issue - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

My phone crashed on me and i had to flash back to stock MJ4. I used the CF auto root to root my phone, then odin 3.07 to push TWRP 2.6.3.7 to the phone. When i boot into recovery, it freezes at the splash screen and nothing else happens. I have to pull the battery to do anything. Is there something i did wrong, or something i missed?

I would try re-odin it back but make sure only "Auto reboot" is clicked and when phone goes to reboot, hold vol up, home and power then let go when it says it will boot to recovery.

You need flash again the twrp, something crashed in the first flash you did...

That worked, but on the third try for some reason. I also tried this right after i couldn't get it to load properly. I feel like magic was at work here, lol.

It's the price we pay, and reward we get, from having this nasty flash habit. Congrats, bro. Success is all we want to hear at the end of things.

[Q] Can't boot into recovery

Tried everything I know (which admittedly, isn't a ton). I picked this P7510 up on eBay. The guy said it was locked by a virus. I'd never heard of that but I figured if i could get into Odin mode i could fix it.
It boots into Odin just fine. Once the drivers are installed, Odin sees it and I can flash anything I want. Passes every time.
When Odin sends the re-boot command the device hangs. No splash screen. Nothing. It won't boot into recovery.
I can always get into Odin mode, so I tried flashing different recoveries (CWM, etc). Odin passes it every time, but I still can't boot into recovery, even using the buttons. If I try to do it from the two choices on screen when you hold vol down and power, I get a blank screen.
I hate to give up. Any ideas?

What happens when you try to turn on the device normally, without trying to boot into recovery or Odin mode?

Boot loop at Samsung screen.
Interesting...
Have you tried flashing ICS (4.0.4) through Odin? maybe that'll do the trick.
Outside of that, I can't really think of a solution.

Obviously something does not allow it to boot into recovery. So I also suggest trying to get it to boot normally first by flashing ICS through Odin. After booting, then you can try rooting it. For all you know the device may not have been rooted already.
Cheers!

Thanks guys. That was my first step. I tried flashing the stock ICS through Odin. Odin green-lighted the flash, but still no boot. I sold the thing. This was the first time a tablet beat me. Oh well.

Possible Brick-Mostly Restored.

Back to stock...thanks for the link below. The no-wipe version did not work for me. However, My Samsung Boot Screen still says custom.
I've been running Beans rom all day without issue. I've never updated to ME7. Tonight, I enabled autocorrect in my stock keyboard and read I needed to reboot for it to take effect. Upon reboot, it hangs at the Samsung Screen and Custom at the bottom. I downloaded the no-wipe odin as I can't find a full stock odin tar anywhere, and I've attempted to install it twice but after installation, it reboots, a little green android comes on the screen, and then it goes back to the Samsung Custom screen. I can't access recovery at all. Thoughts?

Any chance someone has a link to a recovery .tar?
Theres a "full stock odin tar" in the dev section. I believe there is also a recovery tar at the link provided in the same thread.

Thanks. Flashing now. I hope it works. For the life of me I can't figure out what happened. I edited features.xml to change disableautocorrect from true to false. I rebooted, and got stuck at Samsung Custom. I couldn't access recovery. Volume Up + Power did nothing. I got 'Loading Recovery" in blue at the top, but it just flashed and went away. I was running TWRP. Any thoughts on what might have happened?

This one did the trick, however, it still says Samsung Custom. How do we get rid of that?
If youre unrooted I would boot into stock recovery and factory data reset then reboot a couple of times to see if it registers that its a stock phone. Triangle away supposedly gets rid of it, never used it so I cant confirm. TA needs root tho. The custom boot screen has never bothered me so I havent done much research on it. I have seen a few threads posted about it tho so I know theres an answer somewhere on the forums.

[Q] Boot Loop

Need a bit of help. Stuck in a boot loop. I had Freeza's deodex running like a champ. Flashed TeamVenum's rom and it ran good, but I didn't like colors. I wiped data and reflashed freeza's, and the system would only boot to update apps then reboot and start a boot loop at samsung.
I finally did a odin restore to MI3, but it won't boot up either. It updates apps then does a Finalizing boot, the system freezes then starts a boot loop.
Any Suggestions? Tempted to take it back to Sprint.

Odin should have fixed this.
Did you flash in PDA mode and un-check the "auto reboot" ?
Try downloading the restore tar again, maybe you had a bad download.

Ur phone is bricked. Restore doesn't work, once u did that, u turned your phone into a $700 paperweight. So if u get a new phone and root it, do not do a restore of any kind

Questions before I root?

Coming from HTC so this is a little different for me..I did search these out, just want to be sure.. First, will qbkings method still work since it was done on the first version for this phone and its now on MJ4? For TWRP, when you flash a new rom, what are you wiping, Factory, System, and internal or just system? Any other advice is appreciated, just don't want to screw crap up... Thanks

I used cf-auto root on my phone. It trips Knox but I didn't care about that. You can find it in the original development forum.
As far as what to wipe for a custom ROM just read the first few posts of the ROM you are looking at and the Devs will be very specific as to the steps needed to avoid potential issues.
All the Devs here are very helpful if you have any issues as well.
Hope that helps.

Welcome to the community, bro.
Here's a starter set of instructions, followed by a backup set if you get stuck. [Make sure that you are on MJ4 prior to doing this.]
---------STARTER STEPS
1. Download TWRP (tar/odin flashable) from teamw.in (V2.6.3.7)
2. Download and install Samsung drivers for mobile phones (you may already have these installed)
3. Download Odin V3.07 (you may already have this too, link takes you to what appears to be a master thread for Odin)
See this post for a nice visual and comments, pic and thread provided by a fine gentleman that has about the coolest user name I've seen on any forum
At this point you can decide whether or not you want simply stock rooted, which TWRP can give you without flashing anything, or if you want to install a basic stock rooted rom, kindly provided by @freeza, can select DeOdex or Odex, thread here
4. Download MJ4 DeOdex or Odex and place it on your phone
5. Power off your phone
6. Put your phone into Download Mode (voldown+home+power)
7. Flash TWRP with Odin and boot into it once done (volup+home if Odin auto reboots your phone or volup+home+power if it's off)
8. If you decided to simply go stock rooted, then go to reboot>system and TWRP will ask if you want root, if not, then proceed to flash MJ4 DeOdex or Odex
9. Profit
---------PLAN B IF ABOVE FAILS YOU
[Some just can't get Odin to play nice with the TWRP tar, don't know why.]
1. Follow QBKing77 video and install root using CF method, thread here
2. Download img file for TWRP from Team Win site, flash using app from Play Store called Flashify
3. Flash recovery
4. Follow the rest of the outlined under the heading "Starter Steps"
---------AFTERTHOUGHTS...
Once successful, go into TWRP, backup only your EFS, then separately, backup boot, system, and data. Throw your EFS backup on your PC and Dropbox in case of emergency (hopefully you won't need it).
Pick a rom you like, and start fiddling. Support the devs, have a blast.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Yeah, it is. But there's a reason I layed the steps out so broadly and specifically; half of that was given to me (the stuff above the Plan B line) by one whom knows far more than most, and I still had to do the stuff for which I hadn't planned. Worse, I got stuck at that horrifying yellow Sprint logo, with no bootup. I pulled my SD card and the battery, powered up again, and I only then had success. Most have no issues, but thankfully enough have that there were similar experiences conveyed across these forums.
I really hope that you have a trouble free experience.

Go into TWRP the way you've described, flash the zip, and you'll have a 4-in-1 reboot menu. After it installs, hard press the power key, and when you select reboot, you'll get other options (recovery, &c).

Downloading... Do not turn off target !!

Please Help! I have a 4.3 MJ7 Rooted Galaxy S4 running Hyperdrive. I bought the phone this way. Yesterday, I tried loading an OTA Hyperdrive update. It gave me two options - 1. Boot into Recovery, 2. Reboot and install. I picked reboot and install. When the phone came back on it is stuck in, Downloading... do not turn off target !!. It says at the top in small red letters - Could not do normal boot. ODIN MODE.
I have taken battery out, turned back on holding power, volume up, and home at same time to get into recovery and it just comes back to Downloading... do not turn off target !! screen every time. I just want to get this to power back on and I am unfamiliar with Odin and how to proceed. Please Help! Thank You.

I could be wrong here since I'm no longer a hyperdrive user...
I think when it tried sending you to recovery to install the update, that wasn't for SafeStrap. So when it did the reboot into recovery deal it was trying to send you to some form of custom recovery. Hence the error you ran into.
Like I said I could be wrong. Maybe ask the people in the hyperdrive thread. They'll know
