I somehow managed to damage the flex cable fastener on the board for the microphone, camera button and 2d/3d switch while replacing the screen on the phone. I've spent a little time here and there researching this with the hopes of learning how to remap the 2d/3d switch to the search button, or for some other means of enabling the 3d camera mode. I have gone into the shooter-keypad.kl file and attempted to remap after first backing up the original, but have had no luck with this. Unless I am mistaken while the camera app is opened the search button acts as a focus button or has no functionality at all, amd with the autofocus and/or tap to focus abilities the search button would be perfect for the 2d/3d switch control. Could I trouble somebody to help me with my problem please? Thanks in advance!!!

I'm fairly new here but I have done a reasonable amount of searching (imo) and have yet to find a result to effectively change songs while listening to music without having to take phone out of pocket (bluetooth devices, and shake2playnext excluded).
I found an app called 'Next Song' which interprets double-presses on the volume - this would be nice, only I haven't been able to make it work successfully (next song popup notification appears but track does not change)
At one point, I used button remapper to remap my camera button to media_next. (was using camera360 at this point with camera button). After the GB update and recent threads, I have wanted to use the SE camera more. Unfortunately, the camera button does not work in SE's camera button without the focus button (must press focus before camera button, then picture will be taken).
If anyone's got a solution let me know please
(remap longpress/volume, double press volume rockers? or take picture without focus button on SE camera?)
Hello you think it will be possible to root the camera button on the touchscreen to a physical button like the on/off button or the middle button to make better pictures?? If you try to make a photo from yourself it is nearly impossible to hit the button on the touchscreen to make the picture. Bad Solution from Samsung.
It'll be hard: power button is tied to sleep, home button is tied to suspend. You'll have to override these functions for it to happen.
maybe with a app it would be going i dunno i heard about vignette with that app it is possible to make pictures with the volume buttons.

camera zoom fx can set volume up or down keys to take pictures
Check this thread.. Posted under the general section.. Don't know whether it will help because the uploaded file is for SGS i9000.. But he has managed to implement it on an ACE so he might be able to guide you all through the process..

Is there any possibility to do this? it is pretty inconvenient to use the touchscreen to make pictures and it would be nice if the hardware buttons can be used for making pics.
i want this too, i miss real buttons! i wish handsets all had a row of generic configurable buttons like WM devices of yore.

In ics it lets you configure a volume button so once it drops that will change. Can also use camera fx for time being.
My search button is my shutter control.

Well my brother has the Sprint Evo 3D and He messed his phone ALL up (it is pretty wrecked at this point, screen fine but the case is jacked up), Basically his camera just activates whenever it wants to, so he was trying to see if there is a way he can completely disable the camera button so the phone won't realize it is being pressed.
Is there some kind of app or a .zip that I can flash to his device so that I can make it not realize it has the camera button?

You could try a button remapping program and map the button to null. Or maybe a ROM with that feature built in.
