So I have Themer set to automatically update from the play store. After the most recent update (I believe version 1.21) Themer crashes every time I load it. I tried the obvious things such as restarting my phone with no luck. Running a Galaxy S3 on Android 4.3. Anyone else having issues?

wouldn't think it's your firmware version as I have the latest version running on a galaxy s3
Maybe this will help...
I recently had the same problem on my N5.
This is what worked for me - go into Themer Settings, click App Preferences and make sure that under both "Messaging" and "SMS" that you have selected your preferred messaging app.
@raw.jr.99 @BreakingParadigm @SilverhandX
Please uninstall then reinstall Themer. This will fix the issue.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

I'm still experiencing the same problem. It misses counting messages when they come from another Hangouts user. If they come in through a different source, for example Google Voice, it counts them. In my case a reinstall did not help.

For now, Themer only recognizes the default SMS, email and phone apps. We apologize for the inconvenience but 3rd party apps will be added in the near future :good:

Hey everyone. Whatsapp keeps force closing on me when I try to share an image from the gallery application. From within whatsapp it's fine. But only while sharing from the gallery application.
I wrote Whatsapp over a week ago and as usual they don't answer. So I'm not sure. I doubt it's the phone because I've tried 3 different ROMs and I've had the same issue with all of the roms. So I don't know what to do. It's not that big of a deal, but it is kind of a bother. Sometimes I just get a black screen and I have to back out completely and just go into whatsapp itself to do it.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Solved: Whatsapp wrote me back today and the woman pointed me to the updated version they had on their website which totally fixed my issues! Thanks whatsapp hehe.
It works for me just fine...dont know why you have the issue..
infact i never had this issue in the various stock ROM's i have used in the past
I am on whatsapp version 2.7.431
If you are rooted try fix permissions , ROM manager has it... CWM recovery has it..might be few other ways too...
also check the settings in whatsapp, if the system status is showing working OK...
check if it works when you are on wifi...

I'm not rooted, that's the thing. All the roms have been stock (either an updated or not updated OS). Everything else on my phone works except this! It's strange. If I am not rooted can I still check permissions or anything else that you said? I'm also not interested in rooting. Thanks for the help

Hello, loving themer on my phone but I have only one gripe with it. When touching any of the homescreens you bring up the Themer launcher within what feels like less than a second. One theme I am using has a dialer built in to the homescreen and its just about impossible to complete a phone number without the popup launching. is there anyway to delay this response or disable it?

These bugs will be sorted out once Themer is more stable and we have more resources. We apologize for the inconvenience. For now it might be easier to delete the Dialer Widget until the issue is resolved.

Thanks for that just getting frustrated really, main issue at the moment is whenever I edit a theme I always get a ghost, basically what happens it leaves an image,so I get of the same image.I have tried uninstalling,re installing, phone reboot, factory reset and still have the same problem.I also have the annoying always getting the themer options window.
May try it again over weekend, will let you know how I get on if I do

That's odd, one of the employees also had the ghosting issue but it disappeared after a while.
Have you tried deleting the /sdcard/MyColorScreen folder (remove the Exported folder if you've saved any themes)?
We'll see if there is another way to fix this issue.

Yes, I had the Themer test beta a few months ago, I got aggravated and uninstalled it. Then I thought I'd try again (since the new themes were phenomenal) but it still continues to do that.

Are you running a custom ROM? If so please set the DPI/resolution settings to default.
If this isn't the case, please try this again:
1. Uninstall Themer.
2. Delete the /sdcard/MyColorScreen folder (removing the Exported folder if you saved any themes).
3. Reinstall Themer.
Hope this helps!
Greetings!
Using the newest Themer on my Galaxy S4 with the "Hills"-Theme (Zooper Pro also installed). But the widgets are not updated in time. Sometimes the clock reads 20:40 when it's already 23:50 (example). Rebooting helps. But this sucks, of course. The cover in the music player is also way behind the played songs. What can I do? :/

Appreciate it. I'm on a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-I605), I was on a custom Jelly Beans ROM when it started, I've since upgraded to the LiquidSmooth KitKat ROM and the issue persists. Both ROMs are rooted. It just occurred to me, and I'm not sure if it's related, but the issue started around the time that I began using the "HUD" theme. I'll test it with another theme to make sure it's not just this one, and update here if that helps.
Thanks again!

Hi, I downloaded Themer for the first time yesterday, and was really impressed with it. But today, I have noticed the clock doesn't update unless I refresh the launcher by changing any of the settings, and the same goes with the text and email counters.
I am using a Nexus 4, that is stock and not rooted at all.
I have gone back to the stock Android launcher for the time being, but will use themer again to see if its fixed.

Hello All,
I'm pretty experienced with Android and flashing new software and all that, but I am at my wits end this time. Last week I installed a ROM on my Sprint HTC One M7 that had hangouts as the default SMS app. I hate hangouts, so I installed a third party app. I only ended up having that ROM installed for a day or two before flashing a new one, and suddenly I couldn't receive SMS. I tried tons of things before finally ending up running the RUU to flash back to stock. Since hangouts is in the stock ROM, as soon as it booted, all of my texts popped up right there in hangouts, where they had been being diverted the whole time, despite SMS being turned off in Hangouts.
This time, I updated Hangouts, toggled SMS on and then off again, but all of my incoming texts were still going to Hangouts and not appearing in my stock SMS app at all. Finally, I flashed an updated stock rooted ROM, and no matter what I try, I cannot get Hangouts to stop handling my incoming texts. This is absolutely infuriating, because as aforementioned, I'd rather lobotomize myself with a chopstick than use Hangouts. Has anyone else encountered this? Please help me!
Thanks!

Go into the application manager, find Hangouts, and clear defaults. If you don't use it for anything else, you can always disable/delete it.

I appreciate the suggestion, but unfortunately this was one of the first things that I tried and it did not work. Hangouts currently has no defaults set and is disabled on my phone. There was a 48 hour period where Hangouts wasn't even installed on my phone but it was still handling incoming texts.

Duplicate installation, perhaps? I had this weird thing going on the other day where Titanium did an automatic restore after flashing a batch install of backups, and I had 2 iterations of Weather Bug (different versions). There have also been times where certain sideloaded apps had 2 iterations installed.
Try using a root file explorer and searching for for Hangouts. Maybe there's an .apk somewhere that still loads up even though it's not "installed" anymore.

Gonna check right now just to rule it out but I don't have high hopes since I did a full wipe before installing the Lollipop ROM that didn't contain Hangouts at all. I appreciate the continued suggestions though.

No Gapps packages, no batch restores? Maybe Google is doing it automatically when you first activate the phone. You're given the option to backup/restore your account, and if you do, the phone will start downloading apps that you had installed before.

Hmmmmm, that's one thing I did not think about, is using the Google restore feature when fresh installing. I did flash GAapps with the Lollipop Build but immediately disabled Hangouts. I wonder if maybe the setting isn't being applied "behind the scenes" when I flash a new ROM and allow Google to automatically restore settings. I'll have to play with this a bit. Thanks again.

That could be it. Installed, then disabled, then installed again automatically. If the restore is coming from a different source from Play Store, it's possible it's not making the same checks for existing installations, giving you a duplicate.

Man, I am really about to pull my hair out with this whole thing. I just installed a new ROM deleted Hangouts from system/app using root explorer after denying the auto-restore for Google and I still couldn't receive texts. Rebooted. Sent myself a few more test texts before re-installing hangouts and lo and behold, Hangouts had been receiving the texts even while not installed on any android device that I own. If Hangouts was a building, I would have looted it and burned it to the ground about an hour ago.

I was wondering if you had any luck finding what causes all the text to go to hangouts. I can receive MMS through messenger but not SMS. I thought I was the only person with this annoying problem. I was about to order another device but there has to be a solution to this problem.

Dray,
I did eventually solve it, though the problem persisted even after RUU. It turns out that the issue was with Google Voice. I don't use Google Voice, but I flashed a ROM that had SMS turned on in Google Voice by default. When I flashed a new ROM, sms was still being handled by Google Voice despite neither Voice nor Hangouts being installed on my phone. You should go into settings in Google Voice and make sure sms is turned off. If the app is not installed on your phone, download it and make sure it is turned off anyway, because as aforementioned it was affecting my sms even though Google Voice wasn't even installed. This should solve it.

It's related to facebook changes. Search internet and see.
As a solution, you can change the browser to desktop mode and then you won't have that annoying problem.
There are also some slim facebook alternatives, search on xda / Reddit / Google.
