Shame on me for not buying a screen protector but I was teaching my 4 year old his letters. I drew two lines for him to write in between and managed to scratch my screen using the correct side of the stylus. No excessive pressure. Rather alarming. I wrote to HTC but know where that will go. Picking up a screen protector tomorrow, but has this happened to others?

Heard from other users before i buy. Only use the pen once I got the screen protector, now I can see scratches on it.

It was actually me who drew the lines, so no kids damaged this screen. I wonder if there was a crumb or piece of dirt or something stuck to the stylus head

I haven't had any problems. It does sound like something on the end of the pen but it would have to be very hard, like a speck of granite or quartz, even then it is hard to imagine it scratching. I just added a matte screen to mine, only because I don't like the shiny screens. It also protects it and reduces the writing sound that the HTC pen makes on the screen. Not completely reduced in sound, but much more subdued. Amazon is selling them for $5 now.

One other thought, I have heard people use a floor wax to clean glass and get rid of scratches. I think it fills in the scratch a little. An untested thought would be to use floor wax and then put a screen protector over the top. Wouldn't cost too much even if it didn't work.

thanks for the advise, going to skip the floor wax though. Purchased a screen protector and installed. The pen actually works well with it so I am cool there. Scratch is still visable. Guess this is just my bad luck, and stupidity. Leason learned, always get a screen protector.
Try PlastX from Meguiers. Ive used it on my nexus. Try a little in the corner first. Apply with soft cotton fiber towel.

Got my note 3 a few days ago and I'm loving it. I love the feel, the leather back, the slimness. It's great. But I feel I should be protecting it somehow.
I went for an official S View case but it turns out it's not official and i'm not sure I want to spend £50 on a case that doesn't offer full protection.
I've had a browse but can't seem to find one that would not effect the profile of the phone. Does anyone have any suggestions
Thanks.

Dunno about slim cases (I have a UAG), but I'd definitely recommend a tempered glass screen protector. Especially if you were interested in getting the authentic S-view case.
I bought an $8 eBay protector recommended in the tempered glass screen protector thread and have been very happy with it. Cheap way to keep your screen scratch free.
The problem I've found with screen protectors is that I can't apply them for them life of me. They always bubble or get fluff stuck under them.

Try the tempered glass protectors. I used the MIME Ghost Glass for my S4 and i just got one for my Note 3. It just got here like 30 min ago. IF you get one, you don't have to worry about bubbles, they come out on their own in like an hour or 2. Just apply it in a bathroom after running the shower with hot water to get a touch (NOT a lot) of steam in the air. That pulls all the dust particles out of the air as you apply it.
As for the cases, I agree. I like the feel of the Note 3 naked. I also got a case that makes it actually feel more slippery. I love the case as i had the same for my S4 but it is more slippery. I picked up the Spigen Slim Armor case in the metal color.
I have a bumper case, just the frame around the phone. My phone already fell out from the pocket of my pants, when I was changing (frankly I thought I had the phone in my jacket, otherwise would be more careful) onto the wooden floor from about 4 feet and I think I would have already some type of damage, if it wasn't for the bumper case. I like my phone very much, therefore having it in pristine condition is more important than anything else.
Something like this:

Caseology, Spigen, and UAG are the only way to go for cases.

This is going to sound odd, but in order to get a flawless application of your screen protector . . . do it in the bathroom. I always run the shower as hot as it gets for a few minutes prior to trying to apply the screen protector to let the steam pull most of the dust particles out of the air. I also line up the screen protector prior to removing the backing and tape one side so that it functions like a hinge. This way once the backing is removed you do not have to worry about lining up the protector and it basically applies itself from the taped side.

Question might be lame but just to make sure - Can tempered glass be removed if needed or once is applied/glued thats it ?
It will just lift up. No residue left really. Think of it as more sticky and does not bond like a glue. Until you crank one and have to remove it... It's kinda hard to describe. But it comes up as easy as it is to put down
Ordered it. Should be here soon. Do I still need a screen protector with it do you think?

just want to ask something about tempered screen protector. i just bought the spigen glass tr screen protector and had applied it successfully on my note 3 just having one little lint underneath but i dont care too much about it as it cant be seen when the screen is on. but i want to ask is tempered glass has any side effect to my screen ? such as reduce the screen sensitivity as i heard from someone that using tempered glass has negative effect. is it true ?
I haven't noticed any sensitivity issues. To be fair, I put the protector on only a few days after I purchased the phone, but I honestly never noticed any ill effects after installation.
On my S4 or this phone I've never had sensitivity issue with either phone. The Spen works flawlessly with THE MIME Ghost Glass (is only 32mm thick as to Spigens tr glass which is .40mm thick)
Well my case turned up and I love it. Such a well made product.
It makes my phone look kind of Storm Trooper like. I wonder if I can get a vinyl for the front.

Here is a list of Note 3 cases that fit with the wireless battery cover.
Please add to this list if you come across other cases that fit.
Updated list as of 3/27/14:
I have tried these cases and can say for sure that they fit:
-Caseology Retro Flex Series
-Poetic Borderline Bumper
-Bear Motion Bumper
I have seen pics and read that these cases fit:
-Diztronic Glossy Clear
-Diztronic Matte Black
-Tech21
-UAG
I have read that these cases fit:
-Mumbi TPU
-Trident Kraken A.M.S.
Will I be as to use the functionality of it once the case is on ?

Thank you.
I just read that Tech 21 fits.
Actually I have the OEM wireless charging cover and just got the Diztronic TPU case and it doesn't fit. I can get 3 of the 4 corners on only. Did you guys stretch out that case or something?
This is a list of cases you can MAKE fit, but they do not "fit" properly. The Tech21 case at T-Mobile can also be made to fit by force, but none of these options are designed to fit the official wireless back, they're just being stretched/forced to do so.
Belt Clip
I recently purchased the Seidio belt clip made to hold the phone with not case. It works with the Samsung wireless charging back beautifully. It keeps the phone tight to my side so it doesn't catch on any seats. I am retired so the chances of the phone being compromised, (short of my error), is slim. I have the tempered glass screen protector so I feel fairly confident that if I drop it the screen will be fine. I also have the full insurance to fall back on. That said the phone is super sexy without a case so I am HAPPY HAPPY.

You are correct in that there are no known cases specifically made to fit the wireless battery cover. That said, some of the cases listed do fit well enough and require no force. I am currently using the Caseology Retro Flex Series and can slip the case on and off effortlessly. All four corners are nice and tight, and lip is raised all around the screen. The bottom lip is slightly less raised than the top and sides - but it is still clearly raised above the screen so you can lay your phone front side down. The fit around the camera lens is slightly raised, so the camera lens is recessed and you can lay your phone back side down. The bumper cases also fit well without having to make them fit with force.
Hopefully a company will make a case specifically for the Note 3 with the wireless battery cover. Until then, if anyone knows of or hears of any other cases that fit, please post them here.

Thank you for confirming that the Diztronic black matte does not fit, and for posting pics of the UAG case. How is the feel of the UAG case? Is it hard, smooth, slippery plastic? Or, does it have a rubbery, grippy feel to it? How would you compare the grip to a glossy TPU case, which I feel offers the best grip of any material?

So the outside shell is hard plastic. I like the feel better than a glossy Tpu case because the case isn't flat on the back and there are groves your fingers can grab. Also this case is thicker than a convention Tpu case. If fells a lot more sturdy and the material is on the thick side.
Overall I fell very comfortable that this case could take a drop and keep the phone safe, if that is what you want.

I was able to fit an Otterbox defender with the wireless chrging back. I pulled the foam out of the inside of the back plate on the case. It takws quite a bit of work to get the clips to lock in. To put it in the belt clip takes a little extra force and I have to make sure to hear the double click. But now i have great protection and wireless charging.

I'm looking for a screen protector that works well with the s pen (as I use it a lot) and is very clear (I don't want to know it's there). The spigen glass tr looks interesting but I heard it's pretty difficult to apply correctly and I don't feel like spending a lot of money on something that leaves air bubbles. The zagg hd invisible shield also looked promising but reviewers say it leaves marks when you use the stylus. So I'm really confused now... I might end buying the Samsung screen protectors, available 2 at a package, which are also relatively cheap and I can replace frequently. So...any suggestions?

Zagg has different options, which one do you have?
Smudge proof, HD etc?

Where did you get it from?
I've ordered Nillkin Amazing H+ Anti-Explosion Tempered Glass and it is very good...much better then those thin plastic sheets...
Link on Ebay: http://goo.gl/y3eBVG
You have to go with a tempered screen protector.
I used Ghost Armour, Invisible shield type protectors, they are meh
Film protectors I used clear and matte. I prefer the matte because of oils and how easily my fingers slide across the screen vs the clear that your finger has more friction against it. I consider these protectors 3mo protectors, after that they get ugly (not that bad but im picky). I consider these protectors better than the Ghost Armour style protectors.
Tempered glass is absolutely amazing, the oil on the screen magically goes away. I swear there will be oil, look at my computer screen and read a bit, look back at phone, LESS OIL? No idea how, but i swear it does. Friction is just like using bare glass, no scratches, hopefully never have to take off since there isnt anything to "peel back" as its a sheet of glass.
Just watch for thickness, im using 2.5mm thick and it feels pretty good, I see they go up to 4mm, that might be a bit excessive.
So any specific brand you are suggesting?
I'm in Europe and ordered Orzly tempered glass protector. Went on well and had no problems with it. Was about 10 euros and I bought a second one as backup in case the first one shattered or whatever. Figured 10 euros wasn't much. Bought it on Amazon.de but I'm sure that most of the amazon websites will have some sort of tempered glass varying in prices.
I wouldn't dismiss the Zagg. I had tempered glass on my HTC and it was good but it's not as good as the Zagg I now have here.
Whilst it is a film type protector it has as much in common with the stock Samsung screen protector as a central heating system has with a bonfire.
The self healing element is especially impressive.

Seems to not be a good idea to put inside screen protector. I think most i see will go on ok and will bend fine but when you eventually remove it it will pull on the soft stock screen and pull it away from the internal screen components. If it is fragile putting pressure on it probably worse pulling on it!
How about the hinge?
