The OTA bricked my phone. I can RUU it but anything else will not load. Fastboot brings up my serial, adb does not. Does this mean before my phone got the update I was not in USB Debugging mode? If so will I not be able to fix my phone. I have been at this for a few days going through the site trying everything I can. Right now I am in Tampered and Relocked. Thanks for your time and help. -SD70ACEJM

ok so im trying to unlock my thunderbolts bootloader with my mbp and i have installed all the necessary software put my phone into fastboot mode and i can see my phone with the fastboot app but the instructions are for PC so i tried googling before asking here and i didnt really find a clear answer anyone care to share with me what step im missing??
So I got my replacement from Sprint after bricking my phone by downgrading from s-off..
Now I tried to brick this one and seems like it turned off before I disconected and now I can't boot it up, and the downgrade tool won't detect it, I get a dim blinking red light.
Also when I try to boot up the phone it boots into the bootloader and it says Locked and under it it says security warning, what do I have to do?
Help please :/
Do I just re-do it?
anyone?
Run the ruu.
Check the sticky on how to get back to stock

Yeah.
Or wait. Unlock your phone?
The reason it shows security warning is because you probably flashed something then locked your phone. thats what happens to me after locking my phone.
But now why would you try to downgrade after you bricked your phone. haha

Your right but you don't need to unlock it again. Just run the 2.17 ruu exe through the bootloader and when your phone is hooked to the computer check in your device manager menu ( if you have windows) to make sure you have your drivers. It should say My HTC or adb android.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But if he unlocks his phone it should be able to boot up and not show security warning. Also you need to run ruu while your phone is on fasboot USB if not your phone will just reboot

"1. Go to data menu; enter ##3282# on the dialpad.
2. Click on "Edit Mode" on the menu that appears.
3. Enter your MSL # and hit "OK"
4. Choose "Data Profile" from the listed options.
5. Press your menu button on the phone and select "Restore" from the menu that appears. Then hit "OK.
6. Phone should reboot. Once it's back up, wait for it to start hands-free activation. Once this is complete you should be good as new!"
If that doesn't work just call Sprint and tell them you are getting the Error 16 message and they will get you back going. Happened to me months ago after using revolutionary and the phone call took less than 5 minutes.
Edit: If you don't know your MSL number you can get a free app off the Play Store named MSL Reader that will find it for you.

Your right, if he unlocks it it will allow him back into his ROM. I was just saying it wasn't nessasary to have to unlock again. When I was unrooting my phone to work on the down grade all I did was lock the phone and run the straight stock ruu 2.17 through the fastboot from my PC and every thing cleared up. You just need the drivers installed minus HTC sync

Nothing to worry about. Please read my previous reply to a similar problem. Remember: if the phone does something it is not a brick, and since it is Android it can be fixed. So cheer up!!!

If you have unlocked device, you should lock it first with command fastboot oem lock, otherwise you won't be able to install RUU.

Alright guys, Ive been trying to fix my friends DNA i guess from what he said is that he had a system update happen on his phone and it would just stay on the "HTC Quite Brilliant" Page. I tried a factory reset, and that didn't do anything, I went into recovery to wipe cache partition. I also tried wipe data/factory reset from recovery as well as hboot. so i got adb and i plugged the phone in while on fastboot. "adb devices" Shows nothing its just blank underneath the listed devices. So i figured that the drivers wont install i installed htc sync manager as advertised has the supporting drivers. Htc sync manager reads the device but doesn't say its a DNA it just says that its rom number. I tried to go to fastboot and put a previous dated RUU on but it had a error and just couldn't do anything with the phone. So now i went into the recovery and behind the menu screen it says "updating software from verizon wireless" but theres a issue with that is that the sim card in it isnt activated anymore so theres no data going to that phone if it is updating and if it downloaded the os to the phone it should be wiped since i did a factory reset 3 times and wiped cache 3 times as well.
So What i think is wrong is that:
I need usb Debugging on
S is on
Drivers wont install properly
I may need a active sim card to pass the updating?

Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
Can someone please help me out here?
I was missing android sdk and i installed android sdk, and my device will read in adb but when i got to flash a udate it will read signature error. but im not using the word update im using "fastboot flash hboot hboot.img" and so forth and its not working i still cant get the hboot to unlock. please help me figure out if its possible to fix this phone im really determined to fix it and i need alittle bit of help.
Unfortunately, unless you can boot into the ROM, you cannot unlock this phone. I suggest contacting HTC support and let them know the update soft bricked the device and since you cannot unlock it, you need their help in getting it to boot again. HTC is very good when it comes to support, even for phones that are out of warranty. Support staff have been instructed to fix any m7 even if out of warranty period for the camera issue (talked to a rep personally on this issue today when making small talk). I am sure if their update borked your phone and it hasn't been tampered, they will fix it free of charge. What's the worse they can say, no?

I contacted there support 2 times on the phone and once trying to live chat and i got hung up on twice.. so im at loss here
Im really not happy with htc they cant tell me anything to any cause to why there update would cause the softbrick on the phone itself did anyone else have a issue with 4.09 update bricking your phone?? and did anyone find a solution for it?
Hello,
Let me tell you my story and perhaps someone will come up with a miracle solution for my problem.
I was trying to flash my device so: I opened developer options and enabled enabled USB debugging.
I though this was enough, but in the middle of the process I got some errors like "Preflash validation failture". So I went back and discovered that I had the fastboot locked and that in order to unlock it I should get a code from Motorola. I got the code, but when I was going to unlock it, I got another error saying that I can't unlock my flash boot since I didn't enable the check "Enable OEM Unlock" and at that moment was when I discovered I was screwed.
Someone said, that I was just a matter of downloading a Stock room, and repeat the process but I have downloaded tons of them and no luck.
At this point, I would try anything just to be able to open my phone in recovery mode because I can't do anything with it is dead,
I have read tons and tons of posts and all off them lead me to the same point, flash through fastboot repeat all the commands, but I have been there almost 100times. I'm about to get crazy.
If someone knows something, I will really appreciate it.
