(Q Sola) Comparing/Updating Official Ginger to ICS - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys,
my brother has the Sola and he likes it in Gingerbread because it was much faster than the early ICS builds. He's currently using Ginger 6.0.B.3.184. He now notices some strange bugs in the Gingerb software and I'm pondering updating to ICS again?
I see that there are newer builds of ICS http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=21035
6.1.1.B.1.75 and 6.1.1.B.1.89
Are these versions available only to certain regions? How is the smoothness? The last time we tried ICS on it, the RAM was too little for handling ICS properly.
Many thanks for any thoughts

[Q] Help about my Xperia Arc

Hi can someone help a noob like me?
My Xperia arc's stock version was 2.3.2 i updated it while ago expecting that the update i was getting was 4.0 (ics) but then to my surprise it only went up for 2.3.4 and also a change in the Build Number 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Can you help me upgrade mine to 4.0? what should i do and what are the steps? thanks, i hope i could get an answer here, i badly wanna have that OS
ICS isn't available for SE models as of now. If I were you, I would just wait some more time (a month maybe?) until Sony decides to release ICS. Perhaps there is a beta rom port or a CM9 port, but I wouldn't do that if I were you if you don't have any experience flashing roms and kernels.

[Q] Firmware build ... Please some experienced developers confirm me =]

Well....as everyone know that for Sony's mobile, the update for android is by SI numbers. As stated here :
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/38385
And also by area.
And that, when come to 4.0.4 (.431) ICS...I found that using FlashTool and flash the global version of ICS do me no good...(I am @ si 1246-7758...not yet officially hv ICS FW) @ Quadrant Advance, same setting I used to hv 17xx (GB .62) and in ICS 16xx (.431 global)
Not a great pitfall...but the scrolling of UI become supper laggy...just like i underclock to 5xx MHz in GB .62...
I see ppl. who already get to ICS officially here (no root no mod) (st18i, mt11i & lt18i) are quite smooth instead, just like in GB
Simply my question is ...it that FW are actually differently optimized for different SI (batch of manufacture?) they are of different hardware on the circuit??
As of my memory...I encounter similar issue b4 when I flash the global version to my neo b4...but the different is not this great
Also Baseband DO matters in different region's FW
While Kernels r not

[Q] Sony releasing the ICS kernel

I know we are waiting for Sony to release to ICS kernel to development so it can be built into CM9 - and its normally within 30 days of releasing ICS - which if I wasn't mistaken was on the 21st June - I've searched tonnes of pages looking but can't seem to find if Sony have, or when they will, and when we can expect CM9 for the SXS to be out.
Im currently on [FIRMWARE][6.0.1.A.452] CE1 on my unlocked BL xperia s which has the ICS 4.0.4 update, but with all of Sony's bloatware, luckily got rid of Orange UK's rubbish that was on it, but want to get involved in the vanilla action of ICS, then JB when it comes out
thanks in advance for any knowledge you can shed on this for me

It's already out. Team FXP are working on CM9, as always, no ETAs.

[Q][FOR DEVS] Merging ICS with JB.

Shouldnt it be possible just merging JB source with ICS and overwrite if source newer? hmmm.. Got me thinking.
There is not alot of changes on JB compared to ICS, and the drivers are the same. now as Sony has released source for ICS on Xpreia S,
then there should be some possibillities for this, right?
Somone eager enough to try? ^^
We'll get JB sooner or later. ICS is still a priority both for FXP and for us ( AOKPXperia)

Update to Jelly Bean

Hi,
I want to help my friend by updating his Streak 5 to Jelly bean.It is currently running stock Froyo, Can anybody point me to right direction how can i start with it or give references to important threads. Thanks.
P.S I successfully rooted my Huwaei Mi 410 phone to Jelly Bean, and now my friend wants a taste of Jelly Bean too. Thanks. :good:
We haven't even got a fully functional ICS ROM and you want Jellybean?
*laughs*
Our developers have to get ICS working first before we can even think of porting Jellybean. It's not easy, because certain drivers are missing their sources and Dell cannot release them.
You may not be able to get ICS or JB, but you can get GB 2.33 from the Olleh ROM.
It works well enough.
Peace
The Olleh ROM has a lot of issues that were fixed in the DSC ROMs based off it. So I'd install a DSC ROM instead of Olleh.
