[Q] Locked bootloaders? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hey, thinking about getting the ATT Note for my Mom.
On my Galaxy S4 phone, the latest updates from AT&T locked the bootloader down even more. So I'd never buy another S4.
What about on the Note? I know the original did not have a locked bootloader. Well, have any of the recent updates locked the bootloader? Is there anything I need to worry about before buying a second-hand Note?
Will be wanting to flash CyanogenMOD 10.X on it.

[Q] Is there a Bootloader Unlock for 10.1 US WIFI?

I have seen a Bootloader Unlock floating around for the 10.1v, is there such a thing specifically for the 10.1 US WIFI model?
Haven't seen anything on it yet but I've been happy with what I can do so far with a locked bootloader.
Yeah, I have a locked retail as well. I don't think you need an unlocked one unless you're a dev.
Im newbie to GT i was wondering which Tab i have its the US WIFI only i dont know which process to use to root my Tab 10.1 or 10.1v and is there a root method for the US wifi only?

I "had" and unlocked one until the 11MB update the other day so I wanted to ask if anyone had/knew of an valid Bootloader for the US WIFI model. It's an option I wanted to have to put back in place if the update existed.

[Q] Bought an unlockedGalaxy S5 ACTIVE SM-G870A ATT.

Hello ALL,
Got a great deal on a new Galaxy S5 ACTIVE SM-G870A. Was wondering if I can root and load t-mobile roms on it.
Noob at this bootloader but can I ODIN tmobile firmware on this like baseband and that would give me an unlocked bootloader? Then free to flash whatever ROM? I am not worried about the KNOX at all.
TIA.

Bootloader Unlock info for S6 Edge? Only with Unlocked bootloader we can root?

Can we get a thread to consolidate information about the locked bootloader?
I need root, and waiting for an exploit to root might take a long time (or never), so the only other option is to get the phone unlocked?
Is the manufacturer able to unlock the bootloader? Is there a way to splice a root into a factory update?
SIM unlock and bootloader unlock are totally separate, so none of the 'unlock' services frequently advertised will be able to unlock the bootloader?
I'm am seriously frustrated by not having boot access, to the point that I am considering selling the phone and getting an HTC or Sony.
What really sucks is I bought this phone off-contract directly from Samsung because I thought only Carriers phones had bootloader locks.
FYI my version is the SM-G9250 (Asia spec phone).
That sucks.
I recommend you return or sell it and buy a T Mobile S6 or S6 Edge. After 14 days of purchase, they will unlock the phone. Also, it comes with unlocked bootloader and root is now available.
How do you check if bootloader is locked or not? I have an international version (F).
Thanks

Perfect.. Thanks
Liking this phone more and more...
Unfortunately I spend most of my time in Asia, so I don't have much of a choice. This phone has more coverage...and there is no cooling off/return period in Taiwan. I can only sell it as a used phone.
So the T-Mobile us version comes with an unlocked bootloader? This is the deciding factor of me purchasing this device .

This is amazing. I never knew T-Mobile did this. What's the protocol for unlocking after the first 14 days?
I think its 40 days, or something similar
just call them and ask them, they will tell you exactly how you do it
I'm from other country holding the G925I version
how do I check if the bootloader is locked or not?
I'm So EXCITED! Samsung provides factory bootloader unlocking!
I posted the details here:

Is the boot loader in the Hong Kong version locked too?
Hiya, does anyone know if the Canadian version (SM-G925W8) comes with a locked bootloader? I'm trying to root the device but it just keeps failing in odin.
According to this, the latest update for T Mobile locks the boot loader guys. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3096169

Verizon phones typically have unlockable bootloaders.
If you have the MDK build you can unlock the bootloader, flash custom recoveries, roms, etc. root and such. You would need to become familiar with using Odin. From your post it would seem you are confusing sim unlock with bootloader unlock. Sim unlocked merely means you can use the phone with any service providers. Provided the radios are compatible.
If the build is other than MDK you may be able to use Safestrap to load custom roms.
All tricky. Do a lot of research first.
All galaxy phones s3 s4 s5 s6 etc are world unlocked you can put a any Sim card in it and it will switch to global network your carriers will not tell you this information

Coming back to Samsung

I am looking to come back to Samsung, if I do I'll be buying direct from Samsung and will be getting the unlocked version. Has Samsung locked down even there unlocked version from being rooted or is it still just the vendor branded phones that can't be rooted.

Oem unlock (unbranded / free for other providers) is different from bootloader unlock which is needed for flashing custom firmware/recovery, etc. ... usually for rooting.
Exynos variants are in general easier to bootloader unlock and root than snapdragon variants.
