im guessing that this is a no no then?
bummer, really wanted to be able to do this
As far as I know, the tytn miniusb socket is not host capable; this mean that it can only be the slave of a computer

You really need a camera with mini SD. I have one with a full SD but not mini.
don't think it would work, since the computer and the device both host a female socket, so you usually need a male to male connector. i've never seen anything that hosts a female socket (the usb port that you normally see on your computer)
thanks for the feedback

The later Sharp Zaurus PDAs have a port that can be used as a Host, it has a similar miniUSB socket to the Hermes, and can with an adaptor cable accept any USB device.

Unfortunately I have tried using my Zaurus's miniUSB cable to no avail. So I suppose it must b true, just doesnt have host capabilities... though I wouldnt be devistated if I was wrong
There is a really simple answer to this.
The Hermes uses MicroSD. Some company on eBay does a MicroSD to Memory Stick Pro Duo. I think you can get an adapter for Pro Duo to Memory Stick. So stick the adapters into your camera. And then use the MicroSD in both phone/camera. I use the same solution between my p910i and my Dimage Z2.
Hi,
So i bought this desktop dock for the flyer
http://www.expansys.co.za/expansys-usb-cradle-for-htc-flyer-209455/
it is quite inexpensive and looks great. It does have a normal micro usb plug on the dock and only one connection at the back so you either sync via usb or plug a micro usb charger (micro usb at the back but comes with cable)...
My issue is that the micro usb plug on the dock is just a little bit to short if you have a shell on your flyer or if it is in a case...
i'm looking for a small micro usb male to micro usb female adapter that would make the plug higher... so far i only found micro usb male to mini usb female and mini usb male to micro usb female... I'm just worried it might make it too high...
Had a similar problem mate, took me ages till I found this
http://www.ebay.com.hk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130626980424
thanks mate. how do you use it with dock though?
looks like we have different issues, mine was ti lengthen the cable
My bad, sorry........
Now I understood your problem, don't think you can find a proper solution mate...
i've found micro to mini both way
so i'll try to combine them and see how it goes
Hi
i just got my Pipo M8 from Spemall.com
it look very good but i have some minor issues , questions :
1. can i calibrate the touch screen ? when the tabket is placed on the table the touch isnt working well
also the rotation doesnt always work .
2.the Battery status allways shows charging 99% , all the time it shows 100% even when its not connected to the wall , i left the tablet in stby mode over night and in the morning is was dead .The games are runing well also the sound is good
what can i do ?
do i need to replace the firmware ?
thanks
TK
Hi,
1. it doesn't seem we can calibrate the screen. Once in my hands, the tablet is working well, but on a flat support the touch screen isn't so reactive
2. leave your M8 plugged to DC one night and you'll calibrate the battery. I've done this and now when the battery is fully charged, the white light shut down, and the tablet indicates "battery charged".
I've had problems with charger : when I was using my tablet while it was charging, the DC connector moves a little, and the tablet stops charging. In fact, I've noticed the little plug was not fully in the tablet, so I've cut less than 1 mm of black plastic and now it stays fully in the tablet, even if I move it while using it.
Another issue : I'm still unable to use TF cards on this tablet. I've tried 2GB and 8GB microSD cards, none are recognized. When I use them with USB adapter + USB cable on the host port, they are recognized... Have you successfully used TF cards in the TF card port with your M8 ?

This is because of very low quality charger supplied with PiPo. You should better throw it away and buy new, better one.
I've disassembled the tablet, and I've identified why the micro SD card does not work. Pins of the socket connector are to short to touch the Micro SD card, the connector is defective... I'm going to buy a new one and solder it instead of the old one.

It's not easy but it can be done without major difficulty.
Less than 5$ for this piece on eBay for instance : http://tinyurl.com/aee9y8j
Edit :
Finally that was a faulty little spring which was the cause of this problem. I've adjusted it and now the TF Card stay in front of the pins and Android is able to use the card ! great !!

- take your tablet from the rear side in one of the two round corners
- insert a nail in the round corner and pull off the corner
- then a thin plastic card, unlock each hook one by one along the edges
you'll find the mainboard, the batteries (that are approximately 2 or 3 mm thick), the connectors that are very roughly soldered, the logic board of the screen...
sorry for those poor pictures :
Brightness issue Pipo M8 3G
I've got Pipo M8 3G, and I have an issue with the screen brightness. When I dim the screen all the way down (minimum brightness) it starts to flicker (seems that lcd backlight flicker). It is very well visible on the white background (while browsing internet) and there is no problem if the brightness is set to more than 20%.
Has anyone got same problem, any solutions how to fix that

Yes, what charger did you try and does it solve the touch screen issue when charging.
I was wondering if experts on this forum can help clarify these questions.
The tablet Z has a rectangular shaped micro usb receptacle which is the microusb A/B type as I understand it. Although the normal popular micro usb B type connector which is supplied with the tablet Will fit in there, it is kind of loose, being able to move a little bit. Whereas the A type connector which is usually found on the OTG cables is a perfect fit and does not move around..
So, why is it that even Sony does not supply a cable which perfectly fit the receptacle?
If I use an otg cable to charge somehow (by making another cable from otg cable for eg or using otg with a normal usb male to male cable), since 5 pins are used in the otg connector will it in any way damage the tablet? (physically or otherwise..)
Hi gurus, just got this phone.....happily wanted to transfer all my music and movie files to ROG phone using OTG, but phone unable to detect the sd card !
tried using OTG dongle, sd card reader, even connect ROG phone to another type C phone using the original cable provided.....all failed.
emailed to Asus asking them, replied to me saying this phone does not support OTG !!!
WTF?!!
any gurus here tried connecting the OTG successfully??
I am using china otg from Oukitel mobile - I only had to buy USB-C reduction. Everything works perfectly
I'm using a 128GB USB 3.0 stick even formatted with NTFS via a USB-A to USB-C adapter without problems. Haven't tried it with an SD card reader as I don't own one.
Provided cable is optimized for charging only. You will need to find a data cable and use the side port, not the bottom port.

I have a OTG Card Reader, and works fine, but mine will only work in 1 direction, just flip it over, and re-insert to activate
