I just did that and it didnt work, i still have an error on the wifi.
@hossman should be right.
I had the same problem.
Check the kernel version in settings.
If it's not 3.0.101 the flash was not succcessful.
You have to use "Flash Image GUI" and afterwards reboot into recovery and flash the kernel.
Maybe try once more.

So I had the 1.36 ROM. I installed Android Revolution ROM and I backed it up with CWM. I locked my bootloader and installed the new 1.43 ROM. I rooted it and installed the Android Revolution ROM. I restored my backup on and now when I try to turn on my WiFi, it says error. It says error with the WiFi hotspot as well. Any ideas to get it to work?

Flash the kernel for your rom from fastboot.
You might have to flash it twice, rebooting in between.

I never changed the kernel though.
Just flashed this kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359951
Still didn't work.
Edit: I reflashed the kernel and it worked. It said in the thread "NOTE: Because the previous kernel included a Secured RAM Disk, so you may need to run the script twice. (Once this is done, then any subsequent flash should complete on the first time)"
So you must flash the kernel TWICE so it works. Thanks for the help!
in same situation..need some help please!!
hi all. i'm new to flashing kernels to phones manually. i have usually always used roms which have the stable kernels built in.
I just installed the beastmod 2.2 version and it has a separate kernal. i'm facing the same issue as my wifi says error when i try to enable it. PLEASE HELP!!
I enabled android debugging and connected my phone (not fastboot mode, just regular). i navigated into my android sdk folder and platform tools. just to confirm that my device is being recognized i tried adb devices and my s/n comes up. then i tried doing fastboot flashall and it gives me "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools" i don't know what to do now
please can you provide with step to step steps how to flash a kernal (boot.img). i have also tried downloading kernal manager but it doesn't show any kernals in there for me to download.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Eneet
UPDATE: UPDATE: so i tried running the command (fastboot boot boot.img) while in fastboot mode on the phone and it restarted my phone. then i tried turning my wifi on and still it shows as error. then i pulled out the battery and tried flashing the boot.img again in fastboot mode and phone restarted. still wifi isn't working. any suggestions??

Your not flashing it in Recovery are you?
Download and extract the ZIP on your computer, connect your phone, and run "Flash.bat"
It is all automated from there and does everything for you.

Brilliant answer!
A little more details than it failed please
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
you know,unnamed have CMW, enter into CMW, and flash Siyahkernel 2.6.6 with zImage file directly, but the kernel version is still the same,no change;
so I change to CMW recovery mode, flash it with zip format,it success, but after reboot, the kernel version is still no change.
Delete the zip you have. ReDL it. Reboot into recovery and flash it twice before rebooting and see if that works
Use CPUSpy, free from the market, to look at kernel information.
The kernel information in about phone will not tell you much.
Hello, I just got my Rezound today and the first thing I did was Unlocked the phone, Installed CWM and Rooted it Via [TOOL] [7-3-2012] HTC Rezound All-In-One Toolkit V2.1.
Everything was working fine. I could get into CWM recovery. I could still boot into the stock rom.
Next I downloaded NeWts-One-XxX-RLS-3.1.2-odex-signed.zip.
I wiped data/factory reset. wiped dalvik cache. installed the rom successfully..
When I reboot, I get stuck at the white HTC boot screen. I can still access CWM. I tried wiping and reinstalling. I tried downloading a different version of this rom. Nothing worked.
Should I try installing AmonRa? Can I just install right over CWM?
To clarify, I have not done anything other than what I have just said. I have not installed any custom kernels. Did not make a backup of the original rom (because it froze mid backup). I did not even use the phone at all before unlocking/rooting other than to make sure it booted.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Thanks for the reply :good:
You need to extract the boot.img file from the rom zip then use fastboot on your PC to flash it.
If you're not sure how to set up fastboot, I believe the all in one toolkit contains the needed files, following the instructions in the thread to download, install and use it.

Be aware that if you are on Gingerbread firmware (you are!) and running ICS ROMS, you need to flash the "Oldfirmware" patch to mount the SD card correctly.
Since you are S-on...every time you flash a rom you will have to flash...
1. The rom
2. the kernel (boot.img) that goes with the rom. You'll either have to pull this out of the rom itself or most dev. provide it as a PH98img file to flash in bootloader.
3. If an ICS ROM...flash oldfirmware patch.
ALSO, you didn't mention it but there is a patch to RLS 3.2.1 that correct some minor bugs. Its on themikmik ! Have fun.
EEK....use AmonRA NOT CWM

No problem, that's some good advice from topgun also.
trying to get the cubed kernel working with the codis rom on my dna but every time i flash the kernel my wifi dies. also cant get the swipe to wake working. what kernel version does it say you have in the software menu in settings?
You have to flash the modules too. Fastboot flash the kernel, then flash the modules in recovery. Also you should read the cubed kernel thread, all of these answers could have been found there.

delete any boot.img file you may have in the folder with fastboot.exe. then paste the extracted boot.img from the 2.4.2cubed.zip you downloaded. also place those modules on your sd card
then fastboot flash boot boot.img
reboot to recovery and flash those modules
My guess is that the boot.img you have in the folder with fastboot.exe is the cued stock kernel ... could be a possibility that this could happen lol
just trying to help knock out all possible ways
i had the same thought earlier and thought i may have mixed up the boot.img. so i re downloaded the stock and the cubed kernel zips and re did all of it. still getting the same issue. do i have to wipe data you think? or factory reset?

You're definitely using a TWRP recovery made for JB hboot? @GtrCraft, did you put the right boot.img inside the zip?
Also, you can try flashing a custom JB kernel of your choice.
@dansou901 I believe so, flashing this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344254) work like a charm (except for the rom that hasn't got any wifi, ...)
How can i check to be sure?

For booting that ROM a CM kernel is needed. As you have installed one (if it works like you said), you need to install a JB Sense kernel (just pick one from Original Android Development section). Then reinstall SuperSense and you should be fine.
I'll give that a go and let you know
@dansou901 , i've used this boot.img (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2337389) because i've already been able to flash that rom as well.
but now i can't seem to get rid of my previous custom rom. i've done a factory reset, i wiped everything there is to wipe, i've flashed the above boot.img and supersense but it's still another custom rom on my device :s

That's a CM kernel as well. I told you to use a Sense kernel. Use this one for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483489
and your recovery should work again as expected. Btw, which recovery did you install? Please give the link.
this is the twrp recovery.img http: // teamw . in / project / twrp2 / 140 (yeah, can't post outside links yet)
i'll give that one a shot

That one's made for ICS, if I recall correctly... Don't use it. Use this one instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099513 But be sure to use a JB version.
After changing my recovery, finally i was able to flash the custom rom. I used the boot.img you gave me, but is that going to affect some of the features in the rom?
And i would like to thank you allready

No, it's not. You can however choose the kernel yourself as I said... But keep in mind that it has to be a JB Sense kernel (just read the OP of the kernel thread carefully, then you'll know). For recoveries, keep this in mind.

The boot.img in the SuperSENSE-dx5 zip is stock, every JB Sense kernel should work though
