Once upon a time when ICS was released I downloaded this cwm install tool/script which would install the recovery contained in it to any ics kernel (I've only tried it for ics may work for jb too)...my question is that can I get something similar for twrp recovery...??
Note: I already know about Lupus kernel having twrp recovery but I'm not asking for a kernel...only asking for a twrp install tool.. I'm attaching the cwm install tool so you know what I mean..

You can do.. If you know unpacking/repacking of kernel.. Just unpack any kernel and then unpack ramdisk and in /sbin replace the "ramdisk-recovery.cpio" with my TWRP "ramdisk-recovery.cpio".. Repack ramdisk and make boot.img and flash.. Done..

I tried it with lupus ics kernel twrp recovery and packed it into cm10.1 kernel...(I dont see that should be a problem, or is it? ) When i went into recovery i saw that recovery was mirrored vertically on the screen (I pressed 'Install' on left part of the screen and the 'Install on right part also got pressed..Its usable but kinda weird)
Any idea how i can fix that?

The touch is working but, it responds very-very-very late...
You can notice, when the phone booted up, and you touch the area where where the lockscreen unlock is.
This is what i'm talked about. Need to play a little with the gralloc, or with the libs from an aosp or aokp rom.

New JB framework causes lags?
Hi!
I just flashed this Kernel "KA Xperia SSpeed kernel" and the ROM too. However the phone gets stuck in a bootloop and I can't even get to recovery. It works as long as I don't use this kernel for some strange reason. I've not encountered any issues with the other ICS kernels. Please help! Oh! I've also tried v3 and v3.1 both for this kernel. Does it make a difference if I flashed with CWM or via fastboot? Shouldn't right? Anyway, a heads up that the .elf links are now broken here on the XDA Fileserver.
Thanks in advance

i dont kernel change will make "noticeable" improvement in performance, unless u overclock. battery life is indeed depends on kernel though.
for improvement in MIUI, u can put some scripts that u like etc/init.d folder (scripts like zipalign, etc, etc) and give the correct permission.

What did you changed? i didn't change anything just delete the kernel, and i got bootloop. What's your secret?
So here I will attach a little *.zip-file which flashes Kernel /Boot.img from recovery and without need to flash this again via fastboot.
In Updater Script you´ll find Code , which Dev´s could include in their Updater-Scripts.
To use it : 1. unzip file
2. put your boot.img in this file
3. put your modules under /system/lib/modules
4. zip the file
5. flash & enjoy
Have a nice day

Haha, I´m compiling JB test roms every second day, but will upload the device tree , when a rom boots up.
Perhaps it could be a possibility to compile msm-3.4 Kernel from CodeAurora because it´s nearly for msm 7627a + msm 8625 devices.

i know desire. but this thing is so so different from others. First of all, there is no other popular phone with msm8225 s4 play, then there is the himax touchscreen which is also rare and different, so i couldnt complete sweep2wake feature in kernel. Further more, CM, MIUI, AOKP, no group is trying to support it officially.
I'll look into other trees to find the diff. Thanks for the heads up.

This thread is pretty much in place to prevent chaos on the original ICS thread.
Unlike ICS ,GB uses /cache to download apps from playstore so partition Layout must be fixed .

I think DoomLord's ramdisk isn't compatible with your zImage, i tried full wipe on fastboot mode after flashing kernel, it just stuck at Kernel Logo & doesn't goes to recovery also.
you can try doing the same with LUPUS GB
Mention my name when u rebuild for Anzu, i will test
Just kicking the bucket.
How much /cache is required anyway.
50 MB is the apk limit so I think cache should be 56 MB (Multiple of 4 plus a buffer of 6MB)
