Just upgraded to a Nexus 5 and wondered if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do with my Galaxy S2? I keep all my old phones, but it seems a shame to keep such a powerful tool in the loft! It could probably be re-purposed into something much more exciting! I just don't know what.
Anyone got any ideas?

Depends on what you want to do .. An example.. I would install on a ROM that they just created or become a tester for a new ROM and try to its version on Galaxy S2. Benefits are not few

I'm on the edge with getting rid of my Thrill 4G after this phone I'm more than looking forward to this Galaxy S II. I'm more of a Samsung fan than an LG, but! I'm still glued upon my Thrill, is there any ROM or something n00b friendly to make me feel more acquainted like the Thrill did? Like the following list
- LG Music Player.
- Zeam or Go Launcher Custom dev.
- ROMs containing such LG type material?
I'm just trying to be come acquainted.

Definitely worth a trade, I'm hearing that from everyone.
By the way, am I in the right forum for Galaxy S II AT&T version of this phone?
I knew in the end I'd get rid of this phone from the time I got it.
I'm VERY aware that LG software sucks compared to Samsung, I know I'd get the better of the two.
Another thing that's scary to ME is the small size of this phone, I've got an issue with gripping things tightly whilst playing games.
Last question, what's the most n00b friendly ROM I can load and is there already a boot image made for this phone once you go to ROM Manager? With the Thrill, you've gotta build a boot.img file. Hopefully this phone will be ready to Flash from scratch.

No, this forum is for the international version of the Galaxy S II; for the AT&T version, you want to be somewhere else.
I bought my wife the S4 today and I love the new touchwiz - I know some ppl are porting certain features of it to to the note 2 etc... but what other options are there? I know you probably can't just load the odin from the s4 to the gnote2 right? lol im sure that would brick it? Any other ideas to get the new features? I know there are also many hardware differences too which would be a limiting factor........
Samsung is bringing S4 functions to the S3 so I can imagine they will bring them to the note 2.

Hey guys
Should I rather buy a s3 or another smartphone if I want to flash a custom rom and have a reliable handy? I have a i9000 now and want a new smartphone that is faster and still has got frequent community support.
Also, I read that the european version has got an exynos chipset, is that a problem for custom rom support?
Thank you for helping!

Dont get an S3, We might not get official KitKat and custom ROM support seems to be slowing down. In fact, dont get Samsung, go HTC / LG / Sony
I would personally choose between this few GREAT phones. The Samsung Note 3, LG G2, Xperia Z2, Htc m8 (Releasing soon)

I would still suggest to stick with Samsung becoz:-
1. You can use external memory card
2. You can use a detachable battery. Most of phones apart from Samsung coming with sealed battery.
I love HTC phones, however for above reason I am still using S3.
I would say look for your budget, spending too much on a phone is not justifiable. S3 is still a rock solid phone and you can get it cheaper.
I do not really bother whether I am getting Kit Kat or not, because still people are happy using ICS.
I would rather suggest you to buy Motorola Moto G phone, amazing phone for affordable price, and also it's much better than Galaxy S3,because it's will get updates a lot quicker than Samsung, much smoother UI,a lot less bloatware.

The new HTC One (M8) has a SD card slot.
Also, for the record ICS > Jellybean, but remember with each update comes security fixes.
Wow! Thank you for your fast reaponses!
Well, I appreciate your handy choices but the problem is that I am on a budget and the s3 is far cheaper than the rest you mentioned! I would really like sonys z1 compact or his great brother but it is expensive as hell as I would have to buy it without a mobile contract...

Hey Guys,
I've been using Moon Rom on my Note II for about a year now. I reset my phone and it seems that all of the mirrors for Verizon Moon Rom and Trans-Nebula Rom are down. Does anyone have the latest version of either of these roms. If not can you point me to a new tablet based rom? I've gone through all the info on the new roms but can't seem to find one that is tablet oriented. Thanks.
Once we were updated to 4.3, we lose the ability to run in tablet mode. I may have transnebula on my pc. Will drop it if I find it. I certainly miss tab layout, but these new Rome are pretty tight. You should check out the new port by L18. He was originally the porting dev. on moon.

Thanks. I'll check out L18's Rom. I've tried 4.3 and 4.4 roms but I like the tab layout better that all of them. I tried Mini Tab but it didn't work well for me. I'm fine staying on 4.1.2.
Im looking for a s4 zoom sm-c101 on 4.4.2 custom rom, are there any that work out there?
I've been trying to find one all across the internet but with no luck at all and I'm also trying to make an AOSP ROM for this device but I'm no Dev in any shape or form so progress is.... Slow
I learn the process as I go and I've hit a major problem getting the blobs for this device but I hope maybe a dev might get this device one day.

i've been waiting a long time (had this device over a year now still no rom) i wish there at least was some rom like Cyanogenmod or Carbon rom which would support it i don't dare to install the S4 Mini version of Cyanogenmod yet don't know what it would do to my device
I've already checked and the s4 mini runs a different chipset and flashing cm for s4 mini will most likely end in the phone being bricked so I would advise not to flash under any circumstance.
