maybe you have used many ROM for your i9100,please poll your favourite, and tell us your use report about rom.THANKS
the following is the history of my use about rom:
lite'ning 3.0---CM7 nightly 1-15---villainROM 2.4---Leomar75 2.4 and 2.5 ---cognition s2 1.4,1.4.2 ---sensatioN 1.2,1.3--MIUI1.8.12--Lite‘ning 6.0 xxkh1
i think no best rom, there are only some ROM that fit you~
stock rom.. im going to try MIUI rom and CM7 rom, once they get a little more finished, till then Villain rom is basically a stock rom, that comes prerooted
Rigth now villain but i think im keen to try cognition s2 as it seems to be pretty popular looking at your voting chart.
THANKS~~and you could try cognition 1.4.0 and 1.4.2
cognition 1.4.0 kernel ninphetamine 2.0.5
cognition 1.4.2 kernel speedmod k1-t22
beacuse first time cognition adopt speedmod kernel~when i using 1.4.2,i could feel some unstable~
so i recommend you could try cognition 1.4.0 and sensatioN 1.3
they are battery friendly
Revolution for me.
Was on stock for a long time, also tried Cognition and Villain for lengthy periods. Stability is important for me, so no CM7. Had nothing but bad experiences with MIUI, won't go near it again.
Stuck with Revolution because it was the first ROM without a laggy stock browser in KG6 (don't want a 3rd party browser), supports a monochrome theme bugfree, love the OTA kitchen and updates, and Leo is a great dev.
Liked Cognition and Villain too - two great devs - but found my keeper
Which rom ???? xx rom version 1 may be good version 2 may be better and version 3 may be worse .
This is not a vote on a rom just a vote on a roms name .
jje
Lite'ning, Batista70, Criskelo, Villain, Miui, Cognition, CM7, Leomar, tried all with differents Kernell. Some serve better than others, Criskelo stayed longer. Now back to Lite'ning KH1-Speedmod-T22, fast and batery friendly.
I tried: CM7 nightly 20, MIUI, VillainRom, and Revolution so far. I voted revolution as it seems to be the most stable one for now.
prefer batista 3.5..super smooth
You want an option for 'no real preference'. I'm running villain but not through having done any comparisons or investigations. The kernel is the only interesting variable for me, not the ROM (other than making sure it is reasonably up-to-date)
yes~but i can't list all roms and all versions

What monochrome theme you using with Revolution, NitrozK's?
I'm with you on the monochrome mate...
no best,right~i like batista70
Cognition all the way - stock looking but amazing speed, clean, and bugless!!
Please add GingerMOD. I'm using this rom right now and it's the best of both worlds, aosp looks with the best of stock Samsung firmware. (ie. Camera, FM Radio, etc.)

Currently on Leo's modified Sikashi theme from his kitchen - it's excellent.
Haven't tried nitrozk's theme on Revolution yet - found it a bit buggy on Cognition, it's been updated many times since but work has now ceased.
Assuming that it won't work on forthcoming KH3, so no reason to change for me.
Baffled at the lurv for greens/blues/God-knows-what..

Have to say im surprised people are saying CM7, usually it most likely would come out on top if stable but it's far from stable at present and that's the reason i haven't flashed it, i want a stable build on my phone with everything working, Lite'ing ROM was the first i had a good it was but ive stuck with Cognition now for a while.

What do you mean not stable? i'm using it since build 16 and never had a fc or a random reboot, everythings i use works nicely apart for bt audio. The rom itself is smooth and clean

I don't understand how people are saying that CM7 is unstable, have you guys actually tried it? What problems have you had?
I've used it since version 12 and never had a problem with FC or rebooting. My only gripe with it is that it doesn't have bluetooth audio, but I knew that going in and I know it's high on the priority list for development.
Currently looking for a ROM with bluetooth to fill the gap until it's done though, as it's killing me not having the bluetooth for my car. But when that functionality is there, I'll be straight back.
I recently rooted my brother's evo and installed a custom ics rom on it, but hes been having a lot of problems with it and really bad battery drain. Can someone please recommend a stable daily driver (gingerbread or ics) with good battery life and no bugs please. Thanks in advance
i recommend MeanRom 4.3 However, you have to make sure to flash a custom kernel on there as well or you'll have some reboot issues. Either the newest anthrax kernel or dodava's

I've heard MeanRom 4.2 (not 4.3) with Dodava's 5.4 kernel is the most stable, battery efficient Gingerbread ROM.
Hi Guys,
Might be a bit of a noob question but I'll shoot it off anyway. I'm currently happily running SS3.11 with UTMS_Spyder CM10.1Nightly with ICS EU 4.04 Stock on XT910. :victory:
Everything seems to work like a charm and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what benefit there is to taking everything back to stock and flash the JB EU OTA?
Seems like until Hashcode and Dhacker get CM10.1 and AOKP running properly with JB Kernel I'd actaully be loosing functionality?
Any devs care to comment / clarify?
Cheers,
Phil
It's really just personal preference. There used to be a whole list of things that didn't work on AOKP/CM10 however Hashcode/Dhacker have worked extremely hard to iron them all out, it's really impressive. CM10 just updated to using the JB kernel meaning there is no more graphic tearing and battery life is almost the same as stock. Bluetooth problems were fixed last month. I think the only big bug left is automatic flash on the camera (however this still works when setting manually).
But to answer your question, technically running stock you are losing functionality. CM10/AOKP are running 4.2.2 while stock is 4.1.2 (I believe), meaning there's a whole bunch of features missing in stock. CM10/AOKP are being updated nightly meaning they will only improve while stock... well it's just stock. There wont be another update unless something is seriously wrong or Motorola decides to upgrade to the next AOS. Stock also includes a crapton of bloatware which slow down the phone. Even if you manually remove/freeze everything, I still believe CM10/AOKP to have better performance than stock any day. Hope this answers your questions
Sv: [Q] JB OTA vs CM10.1 or AOKP
I just love the customizations that cm 10.1 gives you. I can never go back to stock again. I also run the hotplug governor un order to save battery (one cpu shuts down when not in use) with noop scheduler. This tips were given by the poster above! Try cm and you'll never go back!

Is there an AOSP ROM that works with the leak JB kernel that the camera and tearing is fixed or only the soak kernel?

Many thanks

Well then... I think the decision is easy. Wait for Moto to release JB Fastboot and the amazing devs here to make a root tool and update CM10.1.
Why take a step backwards from available functionality for an official OTA.
Cheers Guys,
:fingers-crossed:

Thanks, I was running AOKP previously but have paid version of Juice Defender which started complaining that it didn't like ASOP base and I should switch to Cyanogenmod. Besides that compatabililty issue though I do really like AOKP ROM.. and did find it both fast and very stable.
hey all
so this is basic, what has more speed and extra battery life? according to your normal usage and kernel.
i like neatrom lite because of the way its been stripped down and it has all i need
Custom ROM v Stock ROM

My wife has neat rom on her phone, she likes that because she is not interested in mods etc, in some ways it seems smooth and is certainly very stable. However, I prefer CM based ROMs with custom kernels ala dorimanx or Apolo, and recently my battery life and performance on 4.3.1 compared to my wifes 4.1.2 has far outstripped my her neatrom. That being said, my phone is softbricked until I can replace the mini usb tomorrow as I had an issue today with my set up, so wiped rom to put a backup on, and then discovered I have no root and thus can't get back into recovery and have no rom to boot into, no usb means no odin, thus I am without phone until I get usb fixed. I guess thats the long and short of messing around with custom v stock, custom rom = more risk but potentially greater potential to implement the latest code, stock ROM = safe and reliable.
All that I have said is just my opinion based on my experience, I urge you to get your own and have fun doing it
Lite neatrom with apolo is crazy I can run a whole day with semi-aggressive usage! I just saw the CM had it stable on i9100 very lately thus I liked to try.

Go search for these kernel:
1. Siyah (supports up to 4.3 only, discontinued)
2. Yank (supports up to 4.3 only, discontinued)
3. Boeffla (eol, maintenance only)
4. Agni
I'd suggest to reset to factory since your lagging is caused by apps that's hogging the rams. Kernel alone only can help to a certain level
^^^
If you're using a Samsung based rom use AGNi purestock kernel, if not use Boeffla Kernel or Yank kernel (been using this for months but I use Boeffla now)
Changing kernel will stop some apps from working. If i had to recommend one it'd be agni or boeffla. If i had to make you choose it'd be a stock kernel.
