If your file size was greater than 4 GB than it is an SD card limitation. You would need to format it into exFAT system to overcome this limit..

Put it in a card reader, insert into PC (Windows works pretty well here), scan/fix errors (chkdsk /f, etc.).

External SD Card

Suddenly my S III cannot see Ex. SDCard files! & it is showing an icon of sd card in the notification bar.
Going to settings>storage the card cannot be seen & the only available option is <Mount SD Card>!
I tried to get out my card & connect it to my tab. Unfortunately it is not seen as well which is pointing a problem with the card itself.
I also added a different card to my S III. it could be read normally!
I think it is clearly a problem with the card itself, but I wonder what might have caused it to happen! & if there is any way to restore saved files on the card.

Hi
1) You have a corrupted file system on your SDCard. Why ? I don't know. To solve the problem, try using one computer with Windows because SDCard use FATfs (completly support by Microsoft)
2) You have a broken SDCard, and no chance to restore your data. Sry !
Thank you!
You are completely right. Trying it through a normal windows PC is a good idea. I'll post back results once I do. Thank you again!

[Q]can someone please help me with sd card

Hello xda members. I have a problem with my sd card. Tried to repartition in cmw and something went wrong. Now I can only connect sd card to computer is to mount in recovery. Also it shows that sd capacity is 2.9gb instead of 4gb. I cant transfer any files to sd card because they didisappears. I have searched in forums, tried everything, nothing helps:crying:. Please help me
Format the sd card and start again. Don't mess with partitioning this time.
already formatted with fat32. Doesn't work

As a rule of the thumb please don't use CWW for partitioning your sd card as it cause errors. Try a tool called minitool. Use it to repartition your sd card with your card reader and computer. Then format it to FAT 32 file system. Hope it works for you !

The official organizaction that designates the SD card standards has a tool for formatting SD cards called SD Formatter which can be found here https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/. Make sure select the full format option.

SD card formatter also didn't help. It still shows 2.9gb available storage and I can't copy anything
Maybe there is hidden corrupted partition and some programs cannot see it. In recovery I can't mount sd ext. Maybe problems are with this partition?

Another suggestion would be to try using the gparted disk partitioning utility if you have linux you can download it from here gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php or use a live CD/USB version of it http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php.

As long as you just reformat the SD card and not any of your other hard drive partitions it will not harm your computer.

I use EaseUs professional edition for my PC, but they have a freeware version you could try for your SD card: I can't post links yet, but if you search google for EaseUS Partition Master home edition, you should find the link to download it.

Make sure under the bios setup options you have CD as first boot device rather then the hard drive this should allow you to boot the gparted live CD.

There is at least a loss of 800 MB. Using mini tool see if there are unused space. Try these steps:
1) First of all delete all the entire existing partitions .
2) Then create a single partition .
3) Perform a full low level format using FAT 32 file system.
4) See if this works otherwise your sd card has got bad sectors which might be unrecoverable even using scandisk

[Q] p769 strange storage issues

My l9 running cm10.1 has some sort of weird storage issue.
First of all, it has three storage folders: "emulated" "sdcard0" and "sdcard1". I understand that sdcard0 is the internal memory, and sdcard1 is the sd card (shouldnt it be sdcard and external_sd?). however, what is "emulated"? it has a "0" folder and "legacy" folder inside that have the EXACT contents of the actual internal phone memory card.
Second of all, when i reboot my phone, under the storage settings of the actual phone settings, it says that my sdcard has 1.8 gb (however, like this, when i plug the phone into my computer it shows up as it should, with SD card with 1.8 gb and internal storage at 14.8 gb). then when i mount and unmount the sd card, it comes up normally on my phone but on my computer it shows both internal storage and SD card at 14.8 gb (which clearly isnt right). Also, both have the exact same files and folders inside when i open them on my computer *or on my phone*
if anyone can help thanks so much
can anyone help? id appreciate it lots

You use a ported version, right? If yes, which one is it? Sounds like a mounting issue.

You have a swap script in use. The script is inside /system/etc/init.d You can remove it, unless you have a game that you backed up from stock. From reading your post, i can tell you probably don't need it.

So I found the folder that you're talking about. Do i delete every file i see? And will that solve my issues with the emulated storage and whatnot? Thanks!

15extsd2internalsd
Just remove that file

Thanks for the help, but I did that and the "emulated" folder still is there. I don't know what to do anymore. Also, my computer still shows both storages as having 14.8 gb
Did you reboot? That emulated stuff is going to stay. Its apart of the 4.2.2 android changes to the system.

[Q] How to copy videos, mp3 etc. from pc to external sdcard?

I have this 32gb external sdcard and i want to copy videos, mp3's and other files on it. i tried connecting my device to my pc and start to copy files to my phone's external sd (sdcard1), error displays "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected". i also tried root explorer but error says "Copy failed".
I can transfer files to my device internal memory (sdcard) without problems but i don't want to put the files there because the storage might get full. I also tried sdcard fix from playstore but it won't do it.
btw, I have a rooted phone with dual recovery, fw 23.0.1.A.167. i hope someone can help me on this...
Try to format the sdcard in your phone, maybe it solve the problem
Send from heaven...
Type this commands in adb:
adb push example.mp3 /data/media/0/
And open file manager on your phone/tablet, move example.mp3 from sdcard to ext. sd

Me too faced the same problem a few days ago when i updated my phone to the same firmware, i tried everything but nothing worked, then after trying all the things which i found, i tried changing the card and it worked! Then i put my card in other phone, it didn't work there too!
Result: my card somehow became read-only! I could read the files which were already on it but i was not able to write or delete something. Got it replaced under warranty, everything is fine now.
Wish you luck with your card!
