Good evening.
Well, i know there are like hundred other threads about dead HD2's, but this is strange:
I bought this used HD2 yesterday, 1 year old, never used with stock ROM. I have been using it all day today, after it was recharged all night. But the well known freezing issue started about late afternoon, and i took the battery out and replaced it, and it worked fine again. It did until i went to bed, where i just checked my facebook, and wanted to close down and sleep. Then it froze again, and now it won't start at all. I also charged the phone for about 40 minutes this evening. When i try to turn on the phone, it either vibrates shortly, or light up the hardware buttons, but no screen. I took the battery out and in again, nothing. Tried to charge it, no red lamp, nothing. No bending pins under the battery, i can't hard reset. When i tried to hard reset it, i could hear the sound, like when i turn the volume up and down, so it must be turned on, just not the screen. Tried to put small paper-bits under the battery, nothing. Now i will try to charge it all night, but it won't work, i think.
Also, i tried to lick the battery, and yes, it works.
Is the phone dead? Should i call the service-provider and get it repaired?
Thanks in advance and merry christmas!
so it seems (if i am right) the problem is possibly your screen. correct? (or more, right?)
can you boot into bootloader? doesn't seem like you can....
one option to see if your phone is working and your screen is bust is:
http://www.mymobiler.com/
never used it myself, but you can see your phone on your computer. if all looks normal there, well then your screen is bust. if not, and you can't get into bootloader, then it seems the phone is all bust.
Well... Now it works again after having the battery out all night, inserting it, waiting just 15 minutes and then turning it on! Is there a way to avoid this? Some fix or something?
I suspect that the reason it was onsale
I thhink we have the same problem here,.... is your device getting a little warm on the back....

I was using my tablet for couple hours and still had around 60% of battery. I turned off the tab because I had to go do something for couple minutes, when i come back my tab wont turn on anymore?
I just got my tab yesterday from costco, i haven't rooted it or done anything, its factory fresh.
Is this common?
Not common. Assume you tried holding the power button down until a forced restart occurs (should force restart after holding for 15 seconds or so if the OS had crashed).

yes i did. didn't work.
i ended just returning it, im just going to preorder the transformer prime. =]

I also had this problem twice since purchasing it new in October. Same scenario as yours, battery had a lot of life left and it shut down. I persistently tried to turn it on but nothing happened. I decided to plug it in and charge it for a couple minutes and tried to turn it on again. After about 5 minutes or so, it came back to life!
I called Samsung and they are expecting me to send it back for repair. They did state that it as not common nor were they aware of the problem. Unfortunately, I have to take care of the return cost for warranty since I live in Hawaii... If i were state side, they would have taken care of the expense...
Hi guys. For some time now, my ASUS TF201 has began turning off by itself several times a day. I have searche high and low for a solution, to no avail. Has anyone experienced this problem and could give me some advice?
more info
Forgot to mention: my ASUS was originally delivered with ICS. It worked without this problem for a few month and suddenly began with it. After updating to JB, nothing changed. Thanks again.

I had a very similar (exactly the same) problem.
When I got my TFP it worked fine (normal issues aside), but a few months down the line, I would come to it and it would be turned off. After a week or so, it got worse and it was turning itself off while I was using it.
It ended up that if I had left it alone for a while, it would start up and run for a bit - but eventually it would shut down on me randomly... and once it had done that, it would shut down after a few seconds of booting.
Leave it alone (for a day or so) and it would turn on again, only for the same to happen eventually.
I RMA'd it once, and they said it was fine and had run it for 2 hours... lone behold when I got it back, I used it for a while, and it shut down again.
I've just got it back from the second RMA and they replaced the mainboard - now it's working like it's meant to again.
So... I'd definitely recommend an RMA!
Remove any/all extrnal memory cards you might have in it and monitor for reboots then.
I have the same problem! Except with me, the tablet only seems to turn on if it is NOT connected to the dock. In addition, if I try to connect the dock after the tablet is turned on, it automatically shuts off. In fact, it shuts off even before the tablet is completely connected to the dock. I'm trying to find a solution myself... anyone?
Hey guys.
I have a problem with my HTC EVO 3D. I've been using it for a year and everything was fine until yesterday. I was playing Real Racing 3 when my phone suddenly restarted and then turned off before I could enter my PIN code and didn't boot up. I thought that it might have overheated or it was some crash or something, I put the phone to charging and it easily turned on (I must mention, that there were about 70% battery left). I charged my phone and didin't use it whole afternoon. In the evening, I was trying to unlock my phone (with about 70% of battery) when suddenly the same happened again - the phone restarted and before entering PIN code turned off at all. After that I wasn't able to boot my phone.
I tried charging it with original HTC AC charger and also using my laptop and even a car charger, but nothing changes.
When the phone is not plugged in to charging, it doesn't show any signs of being alive. I tried pressing volume down/up/camera buttons + power on button, taking off the battery for about an hour, charging the phone for ~6 hours. Nothing works.
However, I realised that when I connect the phone to my laptop, there is a 'new device is connected' sound, but I am not able to access my memory card or do something else. Also, when the phone is charging, the red charging light is on, which after a few hours turns to green and after some more time disappears at all. When trying to turn on the device while it is charging the red light disappears as soon as the power button is released ant comes back after about 20 seconds.
Sorry for such long story and for my bad English. I am very disappointed. I still have a warranty, but I dont want to take the phone there, because the fixing lasts at least 2-3 weeks and also since I'm unable to boot my phone, there are a lot of my personal information in it, such as passwords, messages, bookmarks and so on, left.
So, is there anything I could do or should I take my phone to service?
P.S. The phone is not rooted and never was. Everything is original and up to date.

Perhaps try a new battery or take it in and have them try one. Sounds like a battery issue.

Thanks. I took it to service. I hope they'll repair it.
I finally got my HTC back a few days ago. They changed the motherboard and I had to buy a new battery since the old one was dead and warranty for it was only a year.
But I've faced several unexpected crashes during these few days. I think 3 or maybe 4 times when I took the phone after not using it for couple of hours and tried to unlock it, the phone didn't unlock and instead turned on. I really don't like this, because if my phone turns off whenever it wants, I may be unreachable
Does anyone knows what that means and what should I do if this keeps happening?

Yes, the soft has always been and is stock.
Then it must be a hardware issue. If your warranty has not expired, take it to the warranty service.

Well as I said I dont want to take it there because it takes about three weeks or more till I get back my phone.. It would be the third time in two months and it really annoys me.
Couldn't this be software issue? I mean I've been reading some similiar threads and I found out that some app might be killing the phone. So I did hard reset yesterday and after that installed only well known essential apps (Google services and some others) and after that the phone didin't crash for almost two days. Unfortunately, it did turned off a few minutes ago. I've installed only 8 Ball Pool and Smart Keyboard Pro recently, so I will try unninstalling them both and let's hope the phone won't crash again. Is there any ideas what else may I do in case it doesn't work?

Id recommend doing a factory reset on the phone and not installing any app for at least a week to confirm its not a hardware issue, but I strongly believe it is. If it fails youll have to take it to a sprint store and hope the clerk is in a good mood and give you a new phone the same day.
try a new battery
The battery is new, I had to buy it only a week ago, because the service stated that the old one was dead.
My HOX+ is less than two years old. My phone used to get incredibly hot for the past 6 months. So, I uninstalled most apps and disabled many; keeping only the necessary one enabled. For the past two weeks my phone would automatically get switched off when I am using Snapchat. I thought of factory resetting it but was heavily occupied by my studies. Yesterday my phone finally got switched off and refused to get switched on. It only switched on when I put it on charge (It was already charged, so it wasn't like battery had drained out). I switched it on and disabled almost all but half a dozen apps. But again after few minutes it got switched off.
Whenever I am trying to switch it on, it just boots till HTC screen not even the HTC One screen and gets switched off. Sometimes it boots properly showing the homescreen. I backed up all my data and went for a soft reset. It did take place after few attempts. But the problem persisted so I went for a hard reset using the boot menu. But the moment I select FACTORY RESET it just shows the HTC screen with the slider (yellow) on the top right corner filling up and then again shuts down.
Please help. I have never rooted my phone or used any apk outside Google Play store.
Are you sure that your battery isn't going empty? After 2 years this may happen to a battery (rarely, but can).
