I'm going to give you guys a little back history on what i have done to my phone already.
Ran Odin3 v1.7 Unbrick Success
Tried rooting with SuperoneClick Failure stuck at step 7 Waiting for device than the program stops responding
Tried going to setting>applications> development>(x) Debugging before connecting to computer usb port NUMEROUS TIMES (DOES NOT WORK SHOWS USB CONNECTED BUT NOT USB DEBUGGING) * gets frustrating after awhile hoping something will work the 3rd or 5th time for some reason....
Tried Kies (firmware update) kies mini just loads for ever. I mean like for ever... hours and hours... with no results. it is clearly detected because the model number is shown under devices in kies mini.
Mass storage works grrrreat! lol
Please someone, anyone show me how to fix this. If more details about the situation is needed ask, i will try my best to give a ideal response
Thank you
Thank the lawd for this thread
All i wanted was to root my samsung infuse 4g with out having to go through that debugging mode crap. a Huge thank you to this guy

Please forgive me if I've missed a post somewhere, I've been searching for weeks for an answer to my problem and I still don't see one (similar cases, but either a-no answer or b-solution for another problem).
Computers:
A Windows 7 (32-bit) system and a Windows XP (32-bit) system.
Phone:
Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959
Firmware Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: T959UVJL5
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9
Build Number: Nero.v3
Description of Problem:
When I plug my phone into either or my two computers the following occurs - My phone recognizes that it is plugged in and begins charging; my computers do nothing.
When I was on Android 2.1 I could plug my phone into either of my two systems and my PCs would respond appropriately (ie. show the drive letters and let me access the device once I mounted the device).
Since the very first Android 2.2 install my computers act like nothing is happening. ADB doesn't see my phone, Odin is silent, and Windows doesn't show any drive letters nor does it even show that I am plugging in a USB device.
I have tried to correct this by changing the USB settings on the phone (Kies, Media Player, Mass storage, Ask on connection) and even trying to connect while in debug mode. Sadly, I never made a nandroid backup to take me back to the Android 2.1 install (idiot me took the plunge before reading up on that section).
I don't understand what would cause my phone to be treated as if it wasn't there. I've tried different USB ports, different MicroUSB cables, and even uninstalling/reinstalling the various device drivers for the phone.
I can get into download mode just fine, but what's the point if Odin can't see the phone since Windows thinks that nothing is there? Before you ask, yes, I tried going into download mode before starting Odin as well as after starting Odin; debug mode on and debug mode off. I've been trying all the combinations.
If anybody has any information beyond what is in the stickies, I would greatly appreciate it!
Do you see "USB connected" in notification bar on the phone? You can also turn on USB debugging mode in USB settings. If you see "USB connect" in pull down notification bar..tap on that and it will mount on your computer.
I experienced similar problem with.axura tool...phone well charge but doesn't pop out the mount notification. I power off both my phone and computer and it work again. I'm sure this won't on your scenario but just wanna inform you that it's not all hopeless...good luck
Yes. I have seen the mount USB bar. Bad news: even after it says mounted, the PCs react as if nothing has happened.

First of all, read this forum (last post is mine) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925393 - make sure you have kies or kies mini installed so that you have the correct drivers on your computer for your vibrant.
secondly, team whiskey has developed a fix for the mount issue your experiencing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846384&highlight=mount+fix
they also have the mount problem fixed in the later nero roms... should not be an issue. please let me know if this helps!

Okay, so I've tried all of the above to no effect except for the latest Nero rom...
Looks like I'll be trying the latest Nero (thank goodness for Dropbox).
Nope. Updating to the latest Nero [v5] didn't work.
Anyone else?

I think I'm going to have to throw it under a bus...
This same thing happened to me and to fix this problem all I did was install the drivers I got online, PM me your email and ill send you the drivers
I am almost certain that it is drivers issue more than your phone or any rom. You need to completely uninstall current drivers..all traces of em, reboot and install drivers from samsung website or there are some here in vibrant section also. It happened to me couple of times where one set of drivers stopped working for no reason and i had to try couple of different ones.
I had the same problem. Phone would charge but not connect. I solved it by getting a new usb cable. I just use the bad one for charging now

This is a driver problem. Your computer does not have the phone drivers and is confused on what to make of your phone so it finally decides that it is a charging device more or less and will not mount it, EVEN if you select mount from your phone options.
Please look on this forum or ask the guy who posted before for the Samsung USB drivers. Install them on your computer and then mounting the phone from the notification bar will work.
Hope that helps and feel free to ask again if you are stuck on the process.
I thought it was a driver issue as well until last week.
My coworker has the same model phone and is currently running 2.2.
He has his laptop (Windows XP) setup to handle his phone.
When he plugs his equipment in, everything works. When he plugs my phone in, same old story...
Even when trying different MicroUSB cables.
This is why I'm considering loading up a different/modified kernel.

i have been having this problem ever since i updated my kies to the latest version 2.3.0.12035_16_4. Now the MTP driver just does not install even after following the following instructions from the link [Solution / Tutorial for Galaxy S i9000] MTP Application crashing
and also other instructions from around the net!
1) tried deleting samsung entirely from my drive including drivers and rebooted and then reinstalled. no hope!
2) tried deleting all files with 16 characters from phone memory and sd card. still no hope!
3) installed all drivers successfully via usb debugging mode and then after that i disabled usb debugging and connected it says MTP driver successfully installed but i have to restart my pc. when i restart it says MTP drivers installing and then it fails!!!!!! kies keeps saying connecting..........
4)also now the autorun does not work when trying to connect to kies. it doesn't show up in the windows explorer. however i can access via usb mode
Same results at home (vista) and work (win 7 pro)!!!
whats happening?????
I'm in Qatar my phone details are as follows
Model: GT-I9100
PDA: I9100JPKJ2
Phone: I9100XXKI4
CSC: I9100OJPKJ1
Android Version: 2.3.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100JPKJ2-CL655700 [email protected] #2
just yesterday i just tried another solution: i removed my sd card and reconnected and lo & behold kies detected it...mtp drivers were installed and i could backup.
now today morning to check for updates i reconnected it the same way and i get the message"MTP driver failed".
In the device manager it says device failed to start (code 10) for MTP driver.
i have looked around and most of the threads are for galaxy s and this is a last resort. when i wrote the title the suggestions xda gave me are 1st one is for galaxy note, 2nd - 4th suggestions last post was in 2011 and the 5th one is from 2010. i have gone thru all of these.
Any ideas if i have ICS update? This is my first android phone bought it last july. I'm a bit nervous about updating via odin!
any help anyone???
1) Sorry mate, ICS KIES update for your version has not been released yet.
2) you have to try on another PC to check MTP working, most probebly your PC issue not the phone.
3) uninstall Kies, doenload a fresh one from Samsung and install after reboot and try..
thanx for the quick reply mate
2) same situation in all pcs
3) already done that plenty of times...removed drivers etc etc still no hope
July to April - one year not finished go back to the dealer...

Solved----- USB port was the issue:good: am now rooted and looking for a rom to install.
AOKP MS6 or AOKP nightly JB builds
Phone status and information:
Model number: GT-i9100; Android 4.0.3; Baseband version i9100XXLPW; Kernel version 3.0.15 [email protected] #k3-20; Build number IML74K.XXLPW
So the problems I have.
It all started when i decided that I want to return the phone to a full stock condition, as I have just bought it (not rooted, hacked etc.)
Checking a few videos on youtube I got the Idea and recommended files youtube(dot)com / watch?v=bz9gw-ZRbY4
When I entered the download mode I have encountered a problem, the PC doesn't recognize the phone when it is in Download mode. I have tried downloading drivers and changing USB ports + the cable is brand new. When ever the mobile device isn't in download mode it is recognized and I am able to transfer and review files that are on my phone.
So here I'm looking for help at you guys. How do I fix this issue and do I have the right video to follow?
Please, keep in mind I'm a Novice (I don't understand many terms and abbreviations).
If any of you would like to look in to my problem I'd be grateful.

So as you said I checked the thread it was not new to me. I have the drivers already, but I just installed them again and still there is no connection in download mode. As I said, if the device is not in download mode I can do what ever I want, but once it enters the download mode ... poof (like there is nothing connected to the PC). I had all the others steps completed too, but yet it doesn't work. When I change the USB port windows says "Failed to install" - Gadget Serial.
I had Kies air connected once and in my PC processes there is no Kies of any kind. Even before I enter the download mode I used App Killer to shut down all apps at least for a moment.
Right now My phone is in download mode and this is the status:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-i9100
Custom binary download: YES (1 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
And this is its state every time when it's in download mode.
I had a similar problem but when i wanted to flash it said failed to install or something like that in odin, but then i just changed my USB port to other one and it worked, so i think that the USB i was using was getting impulses of electrisity and turned of at a time so the odin couldn't connect to a phone so he just gave an error (correct me if im wrong).
So for your problem i think you should delete the previous drivers you installed and every driver you installed for your phone and don't delete anything else just your phone drivers. Here: Uninstall Guide
or Here:Uninstall Guide
After the uninstall reboot your PC and install drivers from here, and look for your bit version of your windows (32bit, 64bit) Drivers For windows
And the reboot again, then try and report back here.
Hope it helps!
Cheers

Thank you for your help, but I just realised that I am not running Kies on my PC. I installed Kies and here we go! The phone was recognized in download mode
Hi everyone
Just wondering if you guys could give me any suggestions on what to do.
I bought what was labelled as a S007S recently, it's a 5" Note 2 clone which runs MTK 6577 and although it's been a bit buggy it is still usable and quite fun to just mess about with. However today when I connected the phone onto my PC it didn't recognize the device. All it says on the phone is "Charger has been linked" as a brief message but then disappears. It doesn't give me the usual menu to select USB Mass Storage Mode in the notification bar anymore.
I've tried a factory reset, changing computers which run W7 & W8 respectively and both should have drivers installed as I've used them to connect the phone previously, changing USB cables, pulling the battery, trying USB debug mode, and also tried a few apps on the market that attempt to mount storage.
I've tested the other phones such as HTC One X , Samsung S3 i9300, and Gnex and they are all fine.
I'm quite stumped as to what to do so hoping someone could give me some pointers, I did have a search through XDA for similar issue but seem to have only found older android devices or inconclusive stuff, if I missed a thread please link me
Any help would be appreciated!

Have you enabled the USB Fast Charging?? If fast charging is enabled, then your phone will only charge when connected to your pc..
