Wifi always running - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Wifi is always running in betterbatterystats and media server in battery settings is always keeping it awake from sleep

Change it in the Wi-Fi settings and media is probably for ringers/notifications and should be running. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody .

When you set your phone up you must've chose the option to allow Wi-Fi scanning for location even when Wi-Fi is off. Turn that off in Wi-Fi settings and you should be all set. Mediaserver can be many things and sometimes won't go away till a reboot.

Have you tried changing your wifi sleep policy?
Go to wifi settings, hit menu, then to advance, and switch the sleep policy to never.

Do you have power saving turned on? It might be switched so that it will turn off after it drops below a battery level and that will turn the wifi off.
If I recall correctly, CM7 does not have a power saving mode. Your issue is probably because of the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy.
Go into Settings > Wireless and network > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced >Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never
It might also help to set the Regulatory domain to 11 channels.
Yea i Just needed to change settings. Thanks everyone.

Tasker not enabling wifi when in range

I have a Tasker profile set to enable wifi whenever my home access point is within range. The problem is that it doesn't enable wifi, even when the profile activates. When I unlock the phone and open the browser it uses the data connection, and doesn't enable wifi. Has anyone else had this problem with Tasker?
I also run Juice Defender (Ultimate). Could this be causing a problem with Tasker's control of wifi?
Could be, I also had this problem when using J.D. Since I stopped using it had no more probs and battery got better!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if you have Tasker turning off Wifi, as in Disabling itself when out of range, than how will it be able to know you are in the vicinity of a hotspot to Enable itself? As in, its off, it can't detect wifi signals, so how can it know you are in the vicinity? You might be better off using a GPS option to enable Wifi.

Tasker will peroidically toggle wifi on to check if you are back in range of your access point. You can adjust the checking period within tasker.
Best to set the time to, say, 15 mins (set as 900 secs in the app).

[Q] Turn off wi-fi scanning after connection

Anyone know of a way to turn "Scanning" for wi-fi networks off after you are "Connected" to a wi-fi network thus saving battery? Turning off "Notify me" does not do it.

I think it stops scanning once ur connected and leave the page..if u reopen the WiFi page it scans then stops,at least in mine it does..

From what I've read, this seems to be the way it works. Bottom line it will scan every 4 secs or so while you are on the settings page in case you are trying to connect to a new network, then revert to wifi.supplicant_scan_interval from build.prop when not on the settings page. It's not clear that it has much of a battery impact whatever you set it to. I leave wifi on all the time and whether I am on wifi all day or out and about on lte my battery usage for wifi is negligible.

Auto enable wifi?

Is there an app that lets me automatically turn on wifi when I try to connect to the Internet and after a while not using it to disable it? I really need that because I hate toggling wifi and sometimes my sister doesn't disable it and my battery is drained :-[
Tasker
Tasker Wiki
You can create a profile that your wifi starts as soon as the browser is open.
You can also decide when the wifi should be terminated.
I have tried it. Iys very good but I have a problem : When I close Google play or browser or anything wifi closes too. Also if I am inside an app and I press for example share to Facebook I see no connection error and I have to close the app turn on wifi and re-open the app and it's annoying! Is there a sensor in tasker about Internet connection?
Change the wifi advanced settings.
Go to Wi-Fi, then press Menu key then select Advanced Settings. There you can change Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep setting.
Depending on your phone you might even have other interesting options there, such as Wi-Fi timer.
Just set the auto sleep in Wi-Fi settings. This will only disable Wi-Fi when it isn't used
Sent from note, a phone like never before
Think that doesn't work :-\
Try Llama
the same concept of Tasker it is free and good

Is this normal?

I'm connected to wifi but whenever I look at the wifi tab in settings it every two seconds keeps searching for nearby wifi. It seems like that would drain battery. Is that normal and is there a way to stop it?
it's constantly searching under the wifi direct tab as well.

Android has done that from the beginning. It will not affect your battery life.
It only does that when you're on the WiFi screen. Once you select a network, and leave that screen it stops scanning continuously.
