Wifi keeps turning its self off? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Okay so this is annoying the hell out of me. If i dont use my wifi it turns its self off and doesn't reactivate properly. So anyway I can turn that off so my wifi always stays on?

Have you tried changing your wifi sleep policy?
Go to wifi settings, hit menu, then to advance, and switch the sleep policy to never.

Do you have power saving turned on? It might be switched so that it will turn off after it drops below a battery level and that will turn the wifi off.

If I recall correctly, CM7 does not have a power saving mode. Your issue is probably because of the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy.
Go into Settings > Wireless and network > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced >Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never
It might also help to set the Regulatory domain to 11 channels.

Yea i Just needed to change settings. Thanks everyone.

Same happens to me. Any solution?
ROM: Myk_OS 7 Cyanogenmod port

I use SwitchPro gadget where I can quickly switch between wifi sleep or not and it works for me. But I think it just changes setting described in previous post.

[Q] Wi-fi disconnects while screen is off

Is there any way to keep wi-fi connection active while screen is off? On my Milestone 2 even when screen was off, wi-fi was active, and did even connect to remembered wi-fi's when in range. On Razr, when I go out of range of my home or companys wi-fi and when I come back, I have to turn on the screen to re-connect. I have no smart action rules active. Are there any other settings im missing?
tnx

Settings> wireless networks>Wifi settings> menu> advanced> wifi sleep policy. I've noticed it consumes less battery to just leave it on though due to it having to search for and connect each time I assume

Tnx, didn't know there is a advanced menu in wireless settings.

[Q] problem with data connection

when i have the wifi connection on for a long time and then turn it off... the data connection doesn't restart... this happens also when I lose the mobile network signal.
I have tried off and on the data connection, activate and deactivate the flight mode but nothing, the only solution is to restart the phone.
i have a 5380L phone and a 2.3.6 stock ROM
Please check with the wifi sleep policy. Also check the apn list . Delete unwanted apn lists .

Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings > *hit the menu capacitive button* > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy.
Don't know if that will solve your issue, but that's where it is...
Hope that helps.
nop this doesn' t fix it... now also is happening randomly... i think the reason is a low signal from the mobile network... but does not reconnect, i can call, send sms, but I have no data connection
i rooted the phone with cf-root, i dont know if the kernel have a data control policy, i havent found anything about it
For a moment I thought the problem might be the baseband from the rom i have installed, but i have 3G in occasions

Change basebands or stock rom version. I had that problem once.

Wifi keeps booting me off. ...

Hey, just upgraded to Uverse wifi. Significant problem, my Wifi keeps booting me off. Further my network won't retain the password. Any wisdom?

Uverse the wifi modem?...if so go into setting and see if you have the right setting enabled....perhaps you should reset the wifi...make sure your usin*the right password key....seems to me its a setting within your wifi device...I have a belkin N300 and have it set to 5ghz...and password protected...and no guest can log on...go into account setting and look and see if your device up is in the host log files so you see that's its letting you log on...or maybe changing the channel in wifi... just some options buddy...let us know
Also go to settings> wireless network settings....click wifi setting menu make sure your wifi setting for it to sleep is set to "never"....
I had an issue like that once so I unplugged the power to the router and let it boot back up and it fixed the issue.

Wifi always running

Wifi is always running in betterbatterystats and media server in battery settings is always keeping it awake from sleep
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Change it in the Wi-Fi settings and media is probably for ringers/notifications and should be running. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody .
When you set your phone up you must've chose the option to allow Wi-Fi scanning for location even when Wi-Fi is off. Turn that off in Wi-Fi settings and you should be all set. Mediaserver can be many things and sometimes won't go away till a reboot.
