Is there any way to keep wi-fi connection active while screen is off? On my Milestone 2 even when screen was off, wi-fi was active, and did even connect to remembered wi-fi's when in range. On Razr, when I go out of range of my home or companys wi-fi and when I come back, I have to turn on the screen to re-connect. I have no smart action rules active. Are there any other settings im missing?
tnx

Settings> wireless networks>Wifi settings> menu> advanced> wifi sleep policy. I've noticed it consumes less battery to just leave it on though due to it having to search for and connect each time I assume

Hi my friends,
Im using a dropad a8x as my Cardroid, and i want to access it by wifi or 3G while the car is parked.
The problem is, if the screen goes off i lose all my connectivity, this includes both 3G and Wifi.
Is there a way to shutdown the screen but NOT lose the connections ?
Thanks for the help.
I didn't want to leave with replying,
Go to wifi/setting policy and change it to never. (Go to wifi settings and press menu and you will get the options)
Sorry, I can't be more clearly than this, no time for explaining.
eventual you have to activate "best wlan performance" (anything like this) in the same menu.
Well, thats already set
But when i push the button to turn off the screen it loose both 3G and Wifi connection.
Okay so this is annoying the hell out of me. If i dont use my wifi it turns its self off and doesn't reactivate properly. So anyway I can turn that off so my wifi always stays on?

Have you tried changing your wifi sleep policy?
Go to wifi settings, hit menu, then to advance, and switch the sleep policy to never.

Do you have power saving turned on? It might be switched so that it will turn off after it drops below a battery level and that will turn the wifi off.
If I recall correctly, CM7 does not have a power saving mode. Your issue is probably because of the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy.
Go into Settings > Wireless and network > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced >Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never
It might also help to set the Regulatory domain to 11 channels.
Yea i Just needed to change settings. Thanks everyone.
Issue Resolved.
Anyone know of a way to turn "Scanning" for wi-fi networks off after you are "Connected" to a wi-fi network thus saving battery? Turning off "Notify me" does not do it.

I think it stops scanning once ur connected and leave the page..if u reopen the WiFi page it scans then stops,at least in mine it does..

From what I've read, this seems to be the way it works. Bottom line it will scan every 4 secs or so while you are on the settings page in case you are trying to connect to a new network, then revert to wifi.supplicant_scan_interval from build.prop when not on the settings page. It's not clear that it has much of a battery impact whatever you set it to. I leave wifi on all the time and whether I am on wifi all day or out and about on lte my battery usage for wifi is negligible.

I use EasySMS app to sens text messages from my phone by typing them on my laptop. Laptop connects to EazySMS through Wifi. It works when the screen is ON, but when it goes off, the http interface no longer works (page not found errors). I then need to turn on the screen again to regain connectivity.
EasySMS has an option 'Keep wifi connected (drains battery)' and I already have it ON.
At the same time, AirDroid works fine over wifi even with screen off.
What could be the problem?
Hi
Tray
Go to the settings - wireless & networks - Wi-Fi settings- then click right - Advanced-second option change to never.

Turned out DISABLING "'Keep wifi connected" made it work. How logical...
After my tablet has been asleep for a while I'm having major problems with Wi-Fi. It appears that I am connected but no data is being transmitted.
Sometimes, if another wifi network is available I can switch to this new network and back to my preferred and then the Wi-Fi works OK again (for a while.)
Other times when there is no other network available or I am unable to connect to the other network I turn of Wi-Fi or switch to Airplane mode momentarily and then try to re-enable my Wi-Fi - then my Wi-Fi on/off button refuses to switch back to On and keeps switching itself back to Off.
The only solution at this point is to reboot the tablet.
I have tried "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Always" and "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Never"
I have tried "Disable powersave" in advance Wi-Fi options.
This is extremely frustrating as Archos upgraded me from a 101G9 because I had four devices each with different faults and now this!
Otherwise I'm happy with the tablet overall, it's far more responsive than the 101G9 and the coverboard is useful.
Does anyone have any idea why this could happen? Anyone else with similar problems? Anyone know a solution?
Try going into settings and selecting wifi never sleep. Worked on my 80g9.

Re: 101XS losing Wi-Fi after sleeping
Tried that Steve, make no difference unfortunately.

I fixed it by electing to turn Wi-Fi off when the tablet sleeps, which is annoying as I no longer get email alerts etc.
Hope for a fix in a later firmware...
