I think my Galaxy S4 is Softbricked - I can load into TWRP - I can load into Recovery - I can load into Download - But I can't get any ROM's to work. Even stock. My phone is rooted.
I am running Odin 3.7/3.9 on a Mac through the Wine emulator. I put my phone into Download mode, and it will not come up on Odin. Not sure what to do.
I can ADB sideload Rom's onto my phone - but every time I load a ROM it comes up successful on TWRP Boot loader - but when I start it up - my screen goes black - then it goes blue - and pink. I can see movement in the background, but it doesn't seem to be working, no Samsung screen, no verizon screen, no custom rom screen. I have tried to unroot it with Odin, but Odin doesn't see my phone. I have the stock rom from this website, but I can't flash it.
I had a backup - but somewhere along the way it got wiped. Not sure when, and I didn't think to put one on my computer. Stupid noob mistake.
Can anyone help me? I have tried to use multiple custom ROM's, but right now I'd just like to get my phone to work. Even if I have to Unroot it.
You would need to run Odin on an actual windows system, not wine.
You may be able to use Heimdall on your Mac: http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
I am not familiar with Heimdall and cannot provide instructions for using it.
I use Heimdall on my mac all the time. Its OSX Mavericks too so I know it works with the latest Mac OS. Though I also have it dual booting to Linux (that was a pain to set up on the new Macs!)
Edit: I should mention you need to know how to use MacPorts or Homebrew to get it to work though...
Black, pink, blue and movement in the background?
Sounds like when I tried to use an incompatible kernel/ROM combo.

This may seem a little off, but every device has its own rooting methods, bootloader unlocking methods, and development methods in general. I was wondering if there has been any development aimed at a universal method to install a new bootloader which is opensource, unlocked and non encrypted, followed by a universal android installer which would initially boot into a gui similar to a linux installation which would already have core drivers to get the basics in order and then download packages via wifi to tailer this "universal android distribution" to the hardware components that make up the device being installed on?
Imagine it similar to the typical Linux Mint / Debian / Ubuntu install...
hi,
option is somehow wrong to copy prerecorded FLASH ?
somehow I managed to make the LG E410 LG P700 software and as I wrote in another post can not get any method to the emergency - recovery mode . The only thing that works is the upgrade mode but Windows has completed installing the drivers and everything falls .
I also tried to root via SuperOneClick , different packages of uploads and perhaps all instructions .
I am trying to play either P700 Tu flash any other , best I needed V10C - 00 or even compel even the official or unofficial any program to the phone to flash at least something of what I would get with a normal phone usage.
I do not allow any possibility superuser on your mobile phone .
If it was not my favorite and only mobile Forget him, but the other has not and will not have , so thanks for the advice .
I used to have programs KDZ updater SW - SW updater2014 KDZ - Win7 / 32 - antivirus firewall all off -windows Enabler 1.1 is ON and shttp set according to instructions on the 100 / 9002. also disconnect the LAN and install the offline and using VB script.
am I missing something somewhere .

Is this the right ROOT the phone or not?
Hi all,
I was using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to revert my HTC One M8 from Windows 10 preview to Windows 8.1, and noticed that to do so I needed to put the phone into bootloader mode and have the tool "flash" (in its own words) the proper firmware on to my phone. I was wondering if it was possible to somehow direct it to an Android RUU instead? Does anybody have experience related to this?
Thanks!
Won't work. Folks have been messing with trying to get Android on the WP M8 for some time now. If it was as easy as what you are suggesting, it would have already been accomplished by now.
Hello there,
before getting into details: I am pretty new to the whole business of smart phones; so, if my request doesn't fit here ... please don't get too angry with; but tell me where else I could turn to.
In case this is a good place to ask my question; here we go:
I recently acquired a S4 mini (GT-I9195); currently runing Android 4.4.2; build number KOT49H.I9195XXUCOE4; and as subject says: I want to install cm 12.1; and I am getting nowhere.
I started with this wiki page wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_serranoltexx
The wiki says:
Use heimdall to install the CM recovery image
Then, use that recovery image to install the actual CM build
And well, I am already failing with step 1.
My computer is running ubuntu 14.04; I first installed heimdall from the ubuntu repositories; and when following the instructions; I ended up with
heimdall ERROR: Failed to receive PIT file
Then I fetched the latest heimdall source from github; compiled ... and ran that; but result wasn't much different
heimdall ERROR: Protocol initialisation failed!
Then I tried to do everything with AndroidStudio / adb / fastboot.
I enabled USB debugging within the mobile phone ... and I could actually start an adb shell. I could also use adb to boot the S4 mini into recovery/download mode.
But when I do a "fastboot devices" then ... no devices are showing up at all.
I don't have a windows system; so I tried to get my VirtualBox windows to get it "talking" to the phone; maybe in order to use Odin instead of heimdall; but no luck there.
( I thought about using twrp ... and the wiki pages there basically talk about using Odin on windows)
Long story short: I am looking for the "easiest" way to get CM 12.1 on my S4 mini; preferably without rooting; and low risk of bricking ...
EDIT: with some more help from Uncle Google I figured how to setup my VBox Windows7 to run Odin.
I can start Odin (3.10.7) ... and trying this here: www.s4miniarchive.com/2013/11/how-to-install-twrp-on-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-gt-i9195.html
The IMG is correct; it shows the MD5sum you can see here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449107
And, ah, when running Odin as adminstrator, I starts doing something; and PASSes.
I stop the mobile; and reboot ... and recovery is still showing me the old content?!
So, any idea, anybody?
Resolved
In the end, I got my VirtualBox to run with Odin successfully ... then installed TWRP ... and then figured that I need a different key stroke in order to startup recovery mode.
So, the important things I learned:
* heimdall really doesnt work with Galaxy S4 mini
* Odin (I tried 3.17) and TWRP do (where: Odin needs samsung mobile drivers; and you have to run it as admin!)
* there is a difference between download and recovery mode!
