So even though I've order an moto x, figured this phone would still be a great back if I can get it to boot. Here the sit., I'm s-on and was running Hawks eclipse rom with twrp recovery 2.6.3 I believe, not sure what went wrong but after removing a theme from twrp, rebooted fine however when I booted back into twrp to see if theme was removed phone would not boot. Instead it would start to boot and after about 5 seconds screen would turn black and the white HTC screen would appear and stay for about 10 to 15 seconds before booting back to boot animation screen then repeat process over and over til I pull battery. I've did and full wipe, factory reset fresh install, double flash kernel zip and flash different rom. All with the same ending. After relocking boot loader and re-unlocking the only the boot animation would boot loop (not the HTC screen) but after a fresh flash, back in the original problem. At this point I'm out of options and really would like to keep this phone as a back up, so I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

My stock 2.2.2 streak is rooted. i downloaded honeycomb boot animation, renamed the stock b.a. and named honeycomb b.a. Bootanimation.zip. and rebooted, and it worked. a couple days later i came across something new and cool, i wanted to put the Transformers boot animation on it. i then went back to system/media and deleted honeycomb b.a. and then renamed stock bootanimation.zip, and then i downloaded the zip and put it into data/local like it says. i then tried to boot it up, it showed the dell logo, then screen goes blank with backlight on and button LED's are also on. it also vibrates every 10 seconds...what the heck is going on, hopefully i didnt brick my phone :\
...by the way, i can put it into fastboot, and i can hold vol up vol down and power, to the recovery screen?
Any help or suggestions are highly appreciated, thanks in advance everybody.

Really simple if you have a pre-messing around with boot animation nandroid backup. Just do full nandroid restore and you will be were you were when you made the backup. However, if you don't, you do have one other option, factory reset and use what ever desktop backup program you have (Mybackup Pro or Titianium backup, etc).
Lesson here is if you don't have a clean nandroid backup, make one once you get the phone how you want it apps wise. Than play with boot animations, if you screw it up, very easy fix. Lesson I learned the hard way....
i might have a nandroid from a while ago
i might have a nandroid from a while ago. But the problem may be is i had streakmod recovery b4, then i went back to stock. then i wanted to try flashing a new rom, so i flashed streakmod. i worked once, then next boot it went to stock system recovery. what to do? could i get streakmod now?

Every time you boot a stock rom, there is a script that runs that puts the stock recovery back. You can tweak the rom from root, post install to stop this, but, unless you have done so, that is why your Streakmod has gone.
You can easily just flash it again, then just make sure that you boot straight into recovery from fastboot (hold down the volume keys as soon as you reboot it) and you should be fine
Ill try this
i think i may have tried it before, but ill try it again. thanks
I am using Liquid Thundersense 1.4...I went into the liquid toolbox last night to do a wipe because I was going to flash a new rom. When I said yes to the wipe it turned off and then cam back on at my like main (i guess it is called a bootloader screen) and it will not get any farther than that...I'm not sure what to do about this because the only way the phone responds to anything is by pulling the battery or holding the power and both volume buttons down to restart back to the same damn thing again...I have never had a problem like this so I'm not sure where to go from here...Any help would be appreciated greatly!
I searched everywhere and could find anything this specific
OK I think my terminology was a little off...I guess the bootloader screen is the white screen where you can access fastboot, recovery, factory reset, etc...I still have s-off according to this screen...I can get here by holding down the down volume and the power and I can get to clockwork recovery. But it's when i try to reboot after either one that it gets stuck at that first loading screen
It sounds like you need to put a ROM on your SD card, boot into recovery and flash it from there. Did you not do a wipe and erased your existing ROM? No wonder the phone can't boot anymore.

You are right.
The white screen is the bootloader.
When you get to bootloader navigate to recovery.
if you have made a back up in the past you can go to backup/recovery and recover your old back up.
If not you will have to do what the user above said.
Put a rom.zip file on your sd card and flash it in recovery.
cowisland...thanks i did that and it worked...i must have done the damn wipe wrong or whatever, but i put a rom on my sd and it took care of the problem!

I would always go to recovery to wipe don't do it within any rom or even rom manager but just my 2 cents

I just got an Evo 3D and I am trying to flash a custom recovery image. I used htcdev to unlock my phone, then I flashed the latest Clockwork mod recovery image to the phone using fastboot, but when I try to boot into recovery from the bootloader it just reboots and it never takes me into recovery. Ive tried flashing a few different recoveries in the hopes that I just got a bad file but nothing works. Any ideas?

Try downloading 4ext from play store, after inatalling it will walk you thru the set up to flash the recovery
Can you get into the bootloader by doing the following:
- Pull out the battery
- Put the battery back in
- Hold the volume down button
- Hold down the power button while still continuing to hold down the volume down button
From there you should go str8 to the bootloader screen rather than the splash screen.
If you get to the bootloader screen, are you able to get into the recovery from the bootloader menu?

Yea, do the battery pull, you can also unchecked 'fastboot' in settings, power.

So since I posted, I have made it to the next step. I have TWRP recovery installed and working, but for some reason the whole boot.img and kernal flashing doesnt work. After trying for another couple hours trying to install MeanROM I have had no success. Flashing the ROM from recovery works fine, but once it gets to the step of updating the kernal, it just freezes and I had to pull the battery (waiting 10+ minutes). After doing so, I could get past the boot screen, but it would never properly load the ROM, I just got an endless status bar and black screen. I went through this process a couple of times before I decided to restore to my original nandroid backup. Even restoring the backup caused it to hang when it got to restoring boot.img. After waiting another 10 minutes I pulled the battery and rebooted and luckily was able to get into the stock Sense ROM, which is better than nothing, but I really wish I could install a ROM like MeanROM.

Try 4ext Recovery (see my signature). It will flash the kernel properly for S-on users.
It didnt work for me, I am still on the stock ROM so I dont have root access. Is there a way to flash 4ext through fastboot?
EDIT: I got it installed with fastboot, trying it now. Thank you for the suggestion!
EDIT 2: I worked!!! Seriously, thank you again!

Glad I could help. Welcome to the addicting world of flashing a new Rom everyday

Hi everyone and sorry if I do not post this in the right area, however I am panicking right now. I started tonight by trying to flash CM10 on my Evo. After flashing, the CM10 boot animation was still on the screen after about 30 minutes. I reboot and restored my previous backup. Everything was fine and sometime later after reading that I had to flash the kernel from Cm10 FIRST, then flash the rom in recovery immediately afterwards, I decided to try once more. Again, the same thing happened with the CM10 animation screen.
So once again, I restored my backup. But this time, my phone loads to the white screen that says "HTC QUIETLY BRILLIANT: This is for developmental purposes.. blah blah blah" It stays on this screen for a couple minutes, then I see a gray bar flashing at the top of the screen, and it reboots and does exactly the same thing.
When I enter into recovery with the Vol Down button, the bootloader still comes up and I can still get into recovery. I can't seem to find anything instructions specific to my situation though. I'm thinking that it is because of the CM10 kernel I flashed, but I was under the impression that by doing a restore of my backup, that my old kernel would be restored along with the stock rom.
Once again, I appologize if I am not in the right section, but please any help would be more than appreciated.

I can't get the phone loaded so I can't use any app. It's stuck in a loop with the initial HTC white splash screen, but I'm still able to get into recovery. So do I need to do this with adb instead while I'm in fastboot? If so, how do I go about that?

If your phone is s-off, use a computer to redownload the rom (did you check the md5 signature?) copy it to the phone using the mount feature in recovery, and reflash the zip there too. you only need to use adb if your phone is s-on to load the right boot.img, or it will get stuck at the cm loading screen. your phone is okay, i went through this at first too. look at the dirtyracoon soff method if you havent fully unlocked that yet, and there may be other ways of achieving that too.
I unlocked my bootloader, flashed with Trickdroid, found some bug, then I decided to try the Renovation HD Rom. Got frozen during Aroma twice. Then I rebooted twice. Now my device is half-bricked. I can't get into recovery anymore. Tried CWM, TWRP. doesn't work. everytime I tried to get in recovery, it will just jump to the HTC screen. and after the HTC screen, it will reboot itself, and keep looping...
I want to try to restore using RUU, but there is NO RUU for AT&T version now.
I can't get in recovery, I can't get in the system.... I am stuck. Hopeless now.
Am I the first to brick a HTC ONE?
After 5 hours of struggling, IT got into the recovery again!!!!!!!!! didn't know what I did to make it work. and flashed with Renovation HD Rom and working now.
Update: If you keep getting boot loop, or can't get into recovery, try the ALL IN ONE kit and use the "erase cache", that fix my problem, and I learned it the hard way..

Can you still get into Fastboot?
Use android debugging USB push over image may need to add time delay to allow next available time there is an opening to load image.
Good luck

Yes, I can still get in Hboot, and fastboot
Hi I am a complete noob and just got my HTC one and went way to fast with rooting my phone and may have a bricked phone as well. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the clockwork mod recovery using the all in one kit. I proceeded to boot into the bootloader, and then went into the recovery. I backed up my phone at the point using clock work mod. I then wiped my phone to factory settings and wiped the cache. At that point I forgot that I had not put my ROM that I wanted to use on the phone storage. So i pressed reboot now. Obviously this was a mistake because there is nothing on the phone to boot off of. Now I have an HTC One that is not turning on no matter what I do and I have no idea where to start. Anybody know where I can start? It is also worth mentioning that I made another noob mistake by starting this process with 35% on my phone so is it possible that it is out of battery and not able to charge?
Charge battery copy ROM to SD card press volume up and power look for clockwork mod recovery go to SD card and install rom . Hopefully nothing more is required. Don't panic if clockworkmod is giving you brick sign usually its a sign you have wrong clockwork mod installed.
