4.2.2 Update & Root/Rom Question - HTC Droid DNA

I have an HTC DNA running the following:
Android Version: 4.1.1
HTC Sense Version: 4+
Software Number: 2.06.605.1 710RD
Baseband Version: 1.01.04.0308
Provider: T-Mobile*
*Please note, I use T-Mobile when reading this.
1. Is there any way to update to 4.2.2 without rooting? I do not have an active Verizon sim, as I am on T-Mobile.
2. If I root my phone, and add a ROM, can I still use my T-Mobile sim? Will I lose any features? Will I have to re-add the T-Mobile API Settings?
3. Do I need to be S-Off to add a ROM or can I just Unlock Bootloader/Root w S-ON and add ROM?
4. Will I lose the 'Beats By Dre' Software if I use a ROM?
5. Will moonshine do S-Off and Unlock bootloader or just s-off? Can i load a rom right after using moonshine only?
Thanks

1 no you have to root and s-off perferablly since its so much easier to flash
2 ? just need a gsm rom i believe someone said only verzion lte band many some other hspa feqs so im not sure)
3.no you dont but need either to flash boot.img via fastboot everytime or flahs boot.img viaflash image gui everytime or you can go s-off and just flash one zip and done ( btw you must extract the boot.img from the zip and flash it manually via s-on) <<< and that blows bad buddy slow as hell.
4depends if you pick a rom with beats or not.(aosp does not have beats by dre and some sense roms dont either they go with acid audio or with sony so choose wisely)

[Q] I badly need help - Please give thread a read - HBOOT, S-OFF question

Hi guys
Sorry if this has been already answered. I tried to search for solution many times and asked in threads of ROM but people give very vague answer. I don't want to risk losing my device and want to stick with easy rooting.
I followed this guide to root my phone: http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all-things-root/494212-complete-newbies-guide-rooting-flashing-evo-3d-roms-kernels-using-fastboot.html. I installed everything but didn't do S-OFF. One thing I'd like to share is that I did unlocking through HTCdev and also that I run Rogers phone. Currently I'm using kingcobra 2.4 ROM.
So now I wanted to install ICS but I need to install new firmware. I tried to revert back to stock ROM and do ICS update but it'd stop at HTC screen and same thing happened when I tried to install ICS rom.
So I need to install this new firmware for sure, but I have S-ON I think. Now things I need to know and perform I believe are:
S-Off
Install new firmware
-------
Now do I have to do RUU update as well? If so, where do I do that and how do I know what RUU I am running? Also I'm running HBOOT 1.49.0008 because I did unlocking through HTCdev
-------
If I wanted to simply use the Rogers ICS update, how can I get it? Do I still need to S-Off? I did full back up. Please explain very clearly.
you want to go back to stock so you can install the OTA / official ICS rom?
You can dl the RUU from the htc website. Rename it to PC86IMG.zip and let it install in bootloader
Whats the link for it please? I am on Rogers evo 3d
Also I think i have the base RUU?
The only rom I installed had this:
"
Base: Rogers RUU 1.20.631.2 HTC EVO 3D (Shooter U GSM)
Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense: 3.0
Kernel: Your choice:
"
I chose original kernel, meaning not installing any. I don't think I need stock ruu now do I?
If someone can find me an easy S-off tutorial, I would be more happy to do that and stick with rooting.
I have spent too much time trying to find a way to update to ICS and I am regretting to root my phone now =[ I can't get ICS either way...
go to htcdev, enter your info and they'll let you dl the ruu for your phone.
i used s-off wire trick , try that for hboot 1.5

[Q] Rezound Global GSM question

Hello Guys...i recently bought an htc rezound and in few days arrives here in greece europe.....i own an htc one x and sensation xe so i know how to s-off etc....the thing is that i don't know is about gsm network coverage.....i read somewhere that with the latest official ota there is a an option to work as a gsm phone....if there is an option it can work without s-off or i need to put a custom rom that is global ready?
u just need to unlock the bootloader [if its not already and want to flash non-original rom]
install the rom with global
and don't forget flash the kernel manually cos S-ON wont let it flash
use adb to flash it or via bootloader
You can just install leaked global RUU. No need to unlock bootloader, flash rom or kernel.
Just follow instructions here:

[Q] What steps do I need to take to get CM7.2 on this Aria

So my friend gave me this HTC Aria (AT&T) phone in pretty decent condition... probably needs a new battery but other than that it works well. I have always been on Verizon and am just sick and tired of paying their high rates, so I thought maybe I could use a Net10 SIM in this phone, install CM and and just get by until I can save up for Nexus 4. My current phone is an HTC Rezound running Infected Rezound so I am familiar with rooting and flashing ROMs on HTC products.
I have heard that certain versions of software are unrootable, and S-OFF is attainable and it's not, and there are varying levels of radios, SIM unlock is impossible, etc. Just like all HTC's... So here is what I got, let me know what I should do make it work as smoothly as possible on CM7.2 and the approximate order to do it (should I RUU to Froyo first, S-OFF first, etc.). Thanks for any and all assistance.

S-OFF is only obtainable with the 1.02 bootloader (bundled with the Froyo RUU), so I suggest running the Froyo RUU first.
The only newer bootloader is 1.03, which was made for official unlocking through HTCdev, and has a lot less open than 1.02 with Revolutionary (like changing the splash screen, custom partition sizes, etc)
The CyanogenMod wiki has pretty good instructions for installing a custom recovery and CM: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_liberty
As for SIM unlocking I don't think it's possible without going through AT&T or buying an unlock code from somewhere.

[Q] at&t htc one m8 RUU update to lollipop?????

hi ppl .... m using HTC ONE M8 (at&t unlocked),, I want to update it to android 5.0.2 through manual RUU update,,
but updating by this procedure,,,,will it relock my phone again from at&t carrier.
kindly advise
No, RUU will not SIM lock the phone again.
If the bootloader is unlocked, you need to relock.
But if the phone isn't modifed (bootloader unlock, root, etc.) then just backup you personal data (RUU will wipe the phone) and run the RUU.
