Weird Storage/Sd card problem - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

My evo 4g lte is ROOTED. So ok, one night I was listening to music and on the next day when I clicked on the music app, it would close or crash. It now happens all the time. Also, before, I had the es file manager installed before this problem and es file manager also crashes when I try to open it. The weird thing is that before my phone would say it had the sd card in but now it says theres no sd card. Now I cant listen to music, plz help!(^^)! Thanks for looking

Micro sdcard? If so have you looked to see if it's running low on storage? Have you tried formatting it?

Just tried but nothing fixed. I notice though that everytime I open the es file manager app, I can see that it says sdcard0 but then crashes me out. But still dunno whats happeneing

[Q] Astro file manager

Anyone else having problems with Astro file manager? After updating to 3.0.203 Astro would not work on my nook, but it works fine on my cell phone. Now when I try to access the sd card I would get this message saying "directory does not exist, create error writing file". Root explorer has no problem mounting the sd. any ideas?
There is a hidden second column, pull it out from the extreme right.
WOW! totally miss that. its like a secret trap door. not sure if i like this update. once again, thanks joe
Yeah, I think I like the older version better, everything is way too blue and bloated now. I liked how lite weight Astro was...
After being used Astro for months w/o issue, just after update to new version, I got FC when running it.
I had the same problem, but i had to set the right path in Astro preferences. Open Astro, go to Preferences and there set "Removable/MicroSD" for External storage and "Removable/USBdisk1" for pen drive. Hope it helps.
*And sorry for my bad English.
Whoa I was having this problem too. I'll have to try the secret 2nd column. I agree, the old version was way better. Every time I open it now I just stare at it confused. I've been primarily using File Expert for a while now.
Does Astro with the SMB plug in work? It crashes for me all the time. That is why I use File Expert.

SD blank or bad file system???

I cant really pinpoint when or what caused this to happen but I have been getting a error notification when I reboot my phone saying blank sd or bad file system... I have done the obvious searched the net... searched xda could not really find a fix (removed sd, mount and unmount, search the card to see if I can find any suspicious looking files) heres the thing.... when I connect to the p.c it opens no problem if i take out the sd put it in my galaxy s2 it works fine.. but in the note the only noticeable issue is when i go into the photo gallery (gallerySBEDemo) ALOT of my pictures show up as a black icon and will not load the pic.... im rooted and running OnlyOne rom! I just recently added the 15 toggle mod a week or so ago...... if any of you have any idea how to fix... i really do not want to format the card if there is a way around that.. since it works with my sgs2 and the p.c recognizes it im sure its a software issue not the sd card itself!
also i should mention that when i use other photo galleries like quickpic all my photos show up no problem

Try putting the card in your computer using an adapter and run the chkdsk command on it - remember to check "Fix errors"

[Q] [Solved] Weird problems with files on external sd

I am new to Samsung, coming from HTC Desire. And got into bizarre already )
A couple of days ago noticed a strange problem with photos in galery unreadable, appearing to be corrupt (all of them on external sd, internal sd photos are displayed properly). Then today happened that Music app couldn't play music files on external SD.
Read countless of similar issues on the internet, with lots of people blaming on the sd card. However, I found that it is not the case.
Put into a SD card reader and plug into PC, the files on SD card are all ok.
Put back card into phone and investigated further. First I thought maybe it's a problem with SD card reader in the phone. BUT! Noticed files are perfectly visible in ES File Explorer, and even display correctly when using Gallery App to open them from ES file explorer. But if Gallery is opened first, it cannot display files.
I'm sure somebody else happened the same, since the internet is full with such reports regarding Galaxy devices (even S1 and Note alike), but anyone identified the sorce of the problem and eventually solved it? I would be very much interested.

Try to run Rescan Media app from Play store.
Maybe your media scanner service does not work properly and needs to refresh the list of media files on your sd card.
Good luck !
rescan is done automatically every reboot. doesn't help. thanx anyway.
investigated further and found out that the files are not corrupt, but the libraries of Music app and Gallery app created duplicated empty files (in fact 2 fake entries in library for every valid file on the card). Duplicate files don't exist physically on SD card, only in libraries of the two applications.
Already tried formatting cache and dalvik cache, but to no avail...
ICS 4.0.4 Orange Romania (BVLPH) stock ROM.
Later EDIT: This was an easy one. Unmounted SD Card and open Gallery app and Music app. Then re-mount SD Card, both apps will refresh libraries, wait a while for media scan in the background and voila: duplicate files disappear, everything is in god order.
I had a similar problem where both gallery and music files were duplicated, but the duplicates were unreadable.
My solution was Settings -> Applications -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear Data.
This forced a refresh and everything turned normal again.
Slightly annoying that the media scan data is stored under a separate application and not within the data of the gallery or music player applications, but once I discovered this it was an easy fix.

Cant change default download location in Dolphin

Just got the phone yesterday, haven't rooted yet. But it wont allow me to use the external sdcard. I have a Sandsik 64gb class 10 microsd card. Anyone else with this issue? Only shows two options, storage\emulated\legacy or storage\emulated\0. So strange.
Same here. Tried and it won't show extsd as path option. Weird.

Its not huge deal, just inconvenient. I'll have to download and move all files to my external with es. Which is totally going to confuse PlayerPro. Sometimes the app wont recognize songs for days at a time if I move them. Or at least thats how the GS3 acted.
Another issue I'm having is with MyFord Touch. Playing songs through bluetooth works, but the song title/artist doesnt change unless I pause the song on the screen and play it again. Dunno if its the Note 3 or what.
I'm in the same boat insofar as the file transferring. PITA

[Q] Stock Apps not recognizing external SD card (sort of)

Long story short: Just got my M8 so it is 100% stock, no mods, nothing. I copied my pictures and music from my M7 to an SD card and popped it in the M8. Go to load up the HTC music app, nothing. Go to Google Play music, still nothing. Go to Gallery, even more nothing.
The weird part is that ES File Explorer recognizes and can read the SD card just fine (Not write but I know that's a whole separate ball game), the storage section in settings reports everything correctly. I can even take a picture and move that to the external SD card using the Gallery app and it'll come up just fine, but I then tried moving one of my old pictures I had taken on my M7 into the same folder as the lone picture I took with the M8 and nada, only the new picture shows up. Any particular step I'm missing here?
Found the problem, I'll post the solution here just in case anyone else has the same issue (doubt it but still):
I somehow managed to have a ".nomedia" file in the root of my SD card. Deleting it fixed everything.
