I managed to root my mini pro. However, I tried to debrand it and the phone stopped functioning. The touchscreen will not respond (thus, it is stuck on the "Select language" page. I've noticed that the 2 big files in the Sony Update Service that was supposed to replaced, disappeared. Leading me to conclude that those files are deleted from the mini pro.
However, PC companion, PC suite does not seem to be able to fix/recognize the phone. I've spent over 4hrs searching and attempting to fix this to no avail. Please help.
Long shot here mate, but worth a try..
Hold Home key and the power key from a cold restart. See if it resets to default again..
Good luck I feel your pain!

Try with "Update Service":you can download it from sony website...
Update Service will help, I also rooted my X10mini, after that I removed some apps and after reboot the device was frozen on bootanimation with no respond. I was recomended to use Update Service and it worked. It "reinstalled" whole device SW.
I had the same problem et I tried to solve it with SEUS but this software told me that my version is the last one and dont want to repare or install another one one my mini..(I can't see any button "repare" !)
Anyone have an idea ?
sorry for my poor english
Thanks for your suggestions. However, I managed to fix it using the Davinciteam software.
Well I guess that your solution is not free so if somebody found anything whcih could be usefull to me or anybody who can fall on this problem please tell us

Without phone connected:
Open PC-Companion and press Start under Support zone. Then press start under Update (My version is Swedish so i am just guessing what yours might be.) You will get a small box where the options are Connect and Repair.
Try that.
No, I have an error like "sorry, we cant update your phone cant be recognized"
I already tried with software like omnius, seus, pc compagnon, sin reconstruction, an utility of root by Mogway where there is an button to repare some errors. Davinci software doesn't support x10 in the free version.
I'll go on to find a solution, tks for your help

But IS there a repairbutton ? I am wondering because otherwise you might not have the latest version of PC-Companion or something? Also , when doing repair i don't think it even checks what your phone is. You have to select it from a menu that pops up.
Yes, there is a button and i tried all the software in there last version.
When I press the button "repair", I see that the program load "update prtocol" or something like that (update service ?), then It's start the update and 2sec after an error appear in a box "We can't access to mobile phone" or smthg like that.
Apparently, no communication can be done in PC compagnon.
My drivers are ok, seus apparently recognize my phone (if he told me that I have the last version and tell me that he see my phone)
A little weird huh
Under pc compagnon there is a repare button yes.
The error appear to the point "update motor boot" (démarrage du moteur de mise à jour in french)
I dont find solution yet

I also have some problem like you.. Can you give the explanation and tools (Davinciteam software) to fix it.. 'Cause i hopeless to fix it until i read this.
Use the latest Omnius, it supports x10 mini and mini pro flashing
oh sh... I paid to fix it and now there is a free solution, the world is really nasty
Well, if anyone can't fix it with Omnius, I can give some advice for DaVinci, but I really hope that I'll be the last one to use this soft (despite his efficacity).
I hope you unterstood me
what do u use to convert your firmware to work with omnius??
I have the same problem, stuck on "Sony Ericsson" screen at startup. I tried SEUS and PC Companion to no avail. How can I get Omnius, i cant seem to download it anywhere.

You dont need to convert them..
Just zip up the following files for the App.zip and make sure the naming convention is as below:

They do have them, you have to register for access to downloads and activate your account. I have just checked
As the subject says guys, I rooted my gf's x10i and installed cwm via Flash tool 2.9.1. Was about to unlock the bootloader to install a custom rom when (I swear this was the dumbest moment in my entire life) I clicked the "Optimize button" (FOR NO REASON) I'm on 2.3.3, it said "phone rebooting", my phone did nothing so I disregarded it. however, when I restarted it, the phone went to the sony erricson screen and just shutdown and restarted again and again and again. I booted into cwm recovery but to my horror it kept saying sd card in use when i try to intall a zip from sd (which I learned from this site means it's the wrong ver. cwm for my phone) So the gist is phone restarts every 10-15 seconds, I can't use cwm properly because of the version. and flashtool because it keeps resetting so quickly.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!
just simply reflash ? or use SEUS to flash stock software ?

Ok so walk me through this because I'm pretty new to it. When you say you reflash before you get to the SE logo. Does the phone have to be in fastboot? (hold back button?) because flashtool detects it and then it disconnects due to the restart. THANKS FOR THE REPLY!!
the way i do it is
1 select what im flashing (then it will tell you to turn off phone etc.etc.)
2 remove battery
3 unplug phone
4 reconnect phone
5 hold back button and keep holding it
6 slide battery in while still holding back button
about 5-10 sec later it should get detected :s
i really hope this helps because i dont think theres anything you can do if you cant even manage to flash the phone :s
ill look for simular problems and/or info :s
---------- Post added at 04:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 PM ----------
this might be a stupid question but try recharging the phone a while if your not doing that already .
The charge light doesn't come on and yea with the 15 second restart, as soon as it is detected, like a few seconds later it restars and says disconnected. I looked all over and there is noone I find with a similar boot loop. I tried wiping my data via cwm recovery but same problem.
Ok so this might be a dumb ass thing to ask but I will ne way. If I can get a backup of someone else's x10 would I be able to apply it via cwm? Or will that fail like the zip install?
i've bin looking around aswell and couldnt find any simular problem
so the only thing i can suggest is not keeping this in the X10 Q&A but try the general aswell this might attract more people scouting trough.
but tbh im unable to see any options because as im reading i collected this info.
1) cant fastboot/flash anything (no option there)
2) cant use CWM recovery cause its the wrong version and reads the internal flash memory (called sdcard) but not your external microsd card (called external1???)
(correct me if im wrong on the second one)
if this is the case what else is there ?
Hi, sorry about your problem. I don't know a lot about this phone but ill give you the steps that got me going when I had a different issue.
This was in an email directly from Sony, hopefully it'll help, if not then at least I tried.
To Repair your phone Software, please follow the steps below:
Click on this link to download PC Companion http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/ .
Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer. Run the Software.
1. No matter what the program says do not connect the phone until you complete step 9.
2. In the welcome screen if asked click on Start, next you will be shown what Media Go offers, click on "next" then you will see a presentation on what Support Zone offers, click on "Finish".
3. In the next section from "Support Zone” and "Media Go" new select “Support Zone" and click on start.
4. On the next page select "Software Update" and click on "Start".
***At this point if you get an error stating that "unable to install update components" or "server is busy”, please proceed to step 12.
5. The program will say that there is no phone connected and will ask you to connect but disregard that and instead choose the option to "Repair Phone". (The program will issue you a warning on the content that you will lose during the update).
that any data saved only in your phone memory will be erased as part of the Phone Repair.
6. Choose Continue.
7. After that, the program will download the necessary information (several minutes) and it will present you with a list of phones.
8. Choose the X10 from the list (close to the bottom of the list) by clicking on the icon for the phone. Then click on "Next". Then you will see a new section telling you how to connect the phone. (Don't connect it yet!).
At this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the PC.
9. Connect the cable to the PC but not to the phone, then while pressing and holding the back key (the one on the lower right part of the screen that has the icon of an arrow pointing to the left on top) Connect the cable to the phone and keep holding the back key until the program says "The update of your phone has started..." (In some cases a message of "Installing drivers" will appear before the message of "The update of your phone has started..." is shown.).
10. If the steps were not followed exactly the phone will turn on and it will request that you "Proceed with the following steps, slide down the notification bar".
happens disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and repeat from step 9).
11. If PC Companion proceeds correctly with the update it will tell you to release the back key.
the update to finish and follow instructions on the screen.
12. If you receive the message: “Unable to install update components".
a. Close PC Companion.
b. Install Java from: http://www.java.com.
c. Start Pc companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more

I have been trying to reinstall the OS on X10 using the Sony PC comp and also tried with the Sony Update service but get stuck at the same stage in both.
Everything goes ok till downloading the files from the internet i.e preparatory stage. It then tells me to remove and turn off the phone and reattach while continuously pressing the back key (IMAGE 01). It says to select USB connected and mount the SD card. I am following the instructions to the T but nothing forward happens. I have repeated it over 50 times but no reward. It just does not go into the next stage of installation even after waiting 30-45 mins but sends out an error (Image 2)
I thought maybe xrecovery, OS Monitor, superuser, Antivirus might be interfering so I removed them too. Has rooting got anything to do with it?
Searched Google and here but did not find anyone who has encountered like this.
Any suggestions or solutions would be highly appreciated.

Try the flashtool instead. [GUIDE] All Things XPERIA - Debranding - Rooting & More...
Thanks dude but that's a lot of reading and understanding...wud visit the SE service center.
I have just been given a Sony Xperia Mini Pro with a broken touch screen.
The LCD works and when I was given the device it was in Airplane mode somehow I was able to access the device but what I did to get it to bypass the slider I couldn't tell you. I then put it into adb debugging and started adding an account etc... anyway at some point the screen turned off and now I cannot access it again. I have tried using moroboro to install other launchers then pressing home button (back button home and menu work but nothing above that) after entering a couple of numbers to activate the emergency dialer. This allows me to choose the launcher that I want to use but it still has the same lock screen slider.
I am trying to either bypass the slider part of the process, I thought I accomplished this by switching to a password to open the phone, but that didn't work and now no matter whether I am using airplane mode or not I cannot get the screen to unlock like I did before. It even connects to the internet because I setup wifi on the device. It is in MTP mode though and one potential fix I thought of for using flashtool to reinstall the rom says MTP BAD or words to that effect. Can anyone help me with this?
I can connect via emmulator when the phone is off but connected to the computer and I can get adb shell su to work, but don't know where to go from there. I found a few things regarding changing the sqlite3 db but am nowhere near knowledgeable to start messing with that.
If you need anything further as to information please let me know.
Thanks
Phone should in flash mode for flash tool to work

Bro,u can use flashtool only in flashmode not in mtp mode
so turn off your device..press and hold vol down while connecting the usb cable and your phone led should turn green..now get yourself a stock ftf file from http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239 and flash it..or use SEUS and see if you can get the touchscreen working...
remember that phone data and apps will be lost when you flash but sdcard will be untouched..
may be your touchscreen drivers are corrupted and reflashing stock may solve the problem..i hope so..

I don't think you understand about the touchscreen it's physically cracked it was dropped on the ground or something like that. I don't think it's a driver problem. lol. I should have been more specific considering that most of the references to the touchsecreen not working that I found were more software related than hardware like mine.
I know how to get into flashmode but thought that I had to have a bootloader that was unlockable (Rogers would never allow that setting to be overlooked). I can't update via the PC companion because I can't unlock the screen and I don't have a Rogers sim to put in it. The main reason I want to do this mainly is to see if it is working other than the damage to the screen and I didn't get around to checking everything before I shut off the screen which locked it. I don't want to spend $35 on a new screen assembly only to find out that one or more fundamental things on the phone don't work.
I am suprised that there isn't an unlock key-combination that you can use via the slider keyboard.
Does anyone know what it would be that would cause the phone to bypass the lockscreen before and why it won't now?
Alright i got it...

Yes I know the screen unlock code. I'll try it and get back to you.
Well that didn't work. I don't know what i was supposed to see but I ran it via USB and Wifi and nothing. I didn't even see any Ui other than phone connected. And using the keyboard shortcuts like win+b opened up bookmarks and ctrl+win did nothing and rather than start ctrl+(x) my way through the keyboard I decided to uninstall it.
Also regarding the firmware that I found called "Sk17a_4.1.B.0.431_Generic Trade US" it's not for a Rogers phone and I don't want to flash the myriad of files no matter how tempted I might be until I know for sure that it won't brick the device.
Files included in the package are
adsp.sin
amss.sin
amss_fs_mango.sin
apps_log.sin
cache.sin
fota0.sin
fota1.sin
kernel.sin
loader.sin
simlock.ta
system.sin
userdata.sin
I have an idea though on how I can basically factory reset the phone through flashmode if it will work and it not brick anything let me know. I am thinking that if I check exclude for all the parts that can be installed:
SYSTEM
BASEBAND
KERNEL
FOTA
TA
and also for wipe check:
DATA
CACHE
APPSLOG
I will factory reset the phone while at the same time not flash anything that could harm the device. My device cannot have it's bootloader unlocked.
The only thing that I can see that I am not able to change is the loader.sin from being installed to the phone, (likely the only thing if installed to the wrong carrier version, etc... that will have the phone burst into flames knowing my luck, lol Whimper)
Oh and btw I have managed to root the phone using flashtool successfully but am unable to allow anything to run as root because of the pesky locked screen problem I'm having so I am getting fails for anything I try to do as root.

I didn't find the exact firmware for my Rogers device through that page. But I did find a solution to the problem. I downloaded SEUS and used that to update and factory reset my device. First thing I did afterwards was to make sure that I had 30mins for screen off then shut off the slide lock. Now the phone is running Android 4.04 and I did install the sharekm and it works great I'll have to give the dev a good rating. Quite simple to use and the only peev is the overshoot disconnect that happens when you move the mouse too far over the edge. Anyway that is for a review. I haven't done much with it yet and will have to play around some more later on.
It's a pity that I can't unlock the bootloader and flash custom ROMs considering the tutorial for building your own customs specific to this device are available. And that the Flashtool allows you to extract images without having to use Linux commandline (which I am still learning and breaking things more often than not with sudo). That aspect in itself is one more step removed. I have to set up cygwin properly and then I can extract the files properly. I got some errors when trying to do so. Then once i have done that I guess I have a hel of a lot of reading to do.

Hello Everyone,
i'm sure most of you guys are facing this weird PC Companion issue after downloading the new (23.0.1.A.0.167) FW, to make it short, here is what i get:
1- connecting my XZ2
2- New Software available (23.0.1.A.0.167)
3- Disconnect the device (PCC new feature)
4- Downloading .... etc
5- Connection XZ2 again
6- The mobile shuts down
7- Error "There is no software available for your device"
check the attached screenshot
so any possible fix for this?
Yeah, it happened to me as well and it's pissing me off.
Could it be low internal memory???

I download generic Russia, and flash it.
That Was Really Awfull
So I decrypted the files i got from the PC Companion and guess what i found...!!
the old version rom (.314) was the one included in the downloaded files, FU..K YOU SONY, you didn't even bother to check the files you are sending to us.
Seems that the same problem happens in several regions, as lots of talk i found when googling the problem.
And that explains everything, the PC Companion downloads whats on the server as the new 23.0.1.A.0.167, and when the mobile shuts down to the flash mode the error happens
Also some guy at the GENERAL forum posting the ROM twice, and they reply "its the old one", unbelievable ...

will this affect the Z2 by any means? will it change its region for example, will it delay the OTA in the future? if no then i'll be doing exactly as u did

I am wondering the same. I live in Sweden and got offered new firmware 23 (or whatever it is). So I've downloaded about 1gig of something and than when it turns off the phone, I get info about no software available.
When I check available firmware for Sweden, it has two version or two operators (not for the third one, which I happen to have) and both are version 17.xxx. WTF??? I guess PC Companion got too happy about availability of nw firmware somewhere in the world and realized, that there is no new FW for my region. ugh.
Same error here in France
23.0.1.A.0.167 sony pc companion update error "there is no update available for your device"
Same here on both my Z2 D6503 & Z2 tablet...
Same issue for me in Italy. I think I will flash the tft. Already wait a lot
I had deutschland unbranded 4.4.2 and I have been updated to 4.4.4 with PCC without issues. (I'm from Costa Rica)
same thing happened to me. but now I managed to update it successfully. just uninstall pc companion and download from their site and install again. redo the process of updating. hope it works in your case.
