If this is so you can drag and drop files (Music, Pictures etc) between your PC and mobile just install Kies this will install the correct drivers then just connect your phone, let the drivers install then whenever you connect the phone to the PC the Auto Play option will appear on your PC just click the folder.
You don't need to use Kies it just ensures you get the latest correct drivers, you can google the drivers and install separately if you want.

I think in boeffla config there's a checkbox that says enable ums, not sure if you need to do anything else besides that.

I see, have a look here then as its not a function of the S3 Samsung removed it for some reason, this may get you what you want.

Samsung wasn't the one who removed it. It was Google. Starting from JellyBean onwards.

Hello,
I installed Teamcooper CM7.2 (nightly don't remember the exact version) on my mom's mobile.
The PC does not shows the device storage. Hence she cannot copy any pictures / songs to the mobile. ((Airdroid) Wifi is not an option for now)
Any help would be really appreciated
Cheers
Download samsung android usb driver from here
http://www.4shared.com/rar/vaejbJQG/samsung_usb.html
Extract the rar file and install driver.Restart PC(not compulsory). Now connect your phone..Done!!
As its Cyangenmod, I don't think you can use Kies. Just take out the memory card and shove it in your computer.

U cant use kies ...but u can use usb tethering along with the usb driver and connect phone to pc..
.vo-1 based cm7 roms require wired tether app but on the cm7 by T.A. usb tether works independantly

thank you all. I was too fast in typing I guess. Kies wont work on CM as I have CM9 on SGS2 I knew that well but didn't realize what i was asking.
What I wanted to ask is how to get the USB work on PC. Since it's my mom's phone I wanted to help her. I made a mistake in flashing the custom firmware
Will try the USB drivers

flash stock rom via odin or use wired tether from Gplay
So I am not sure what is going on here, but I have Windows 7 pro and cant copy any files to my Galaxy S3. Ive tried different kind of files and still nothing. The error I am getting is just saying 'You do not have permission to create this item'. I am just using a straight USB connection from my pc to the phone and its recognized as a media drive. Anyone experienced something like this before?

Standard method is still cut and paste .
Just moved 1GB easy.
You require Samsung USB drivers or KIES installed of course .

Copying on your phone or SD card?
If SD card: format it
If Phone: Flash new rom
I just use Kies Air to move files sometimes. Worked flawlessly.
Hi all,
I totally broke my screen during NYE (alcohol is not good for certain things )
I would like to get data from my apps but unfortunately I can neither see what's on the screen or click on it directly.
My phone is on CM10.1, adb is enabled.
I used to get my data from adb once but I forgot that in newer versions of CM, root is allowed only to apps by default.
Tried to use screencast, I see the screen but I can't click.
I also tried a app called mymobiler, problem is I need at a certain point to click on the screen to allow it.
last solution I tried was to send a adb comand to backup the phone but here again I need to click the screen to confirm.
I see only two solutions, maybe you guys can help :
First one would be to simulate a click on the exact point where is the "allow" box for superuser, this would allow me to use those apps
Try to make a titanium backup within adb, titanium backup is already granted root so it could work, but don't know if it's possible ..
Many thanks in advance for your help

if you can view the screen and touch is not functioning you can use usb otg cable and connect usb mouse, pointer will pop-up on screen automatically if adb is enabled with this you can navigate the screen dont worry its plug n play.

Already suggested higher, and unfornately, I can't see anything on the screen also.
That's why I was suggesting the command line option or ask for the way to simulate a click at the exact point to allow super user rights
Just a wild guess, use recovery and make a nandroid backup (if you're using cwm, the button combinations should be easy enough to figure out?) and see what you can fish out of the backup file?

Hi,
I am experiencing a problem, please if anyone can help.
When I tried to open QuickPic, there is a popup saying that "Not an Error. Unable to Read/Write in Database" something like that.
When i try to open Gallery, I can't even open the app. It says memory full, delete some application, etc.
When i take a screenshot via power + home, it says Unable to save screenshot, try delete some space etc.
When i try to send a image over whatsapp it says cannot preview image.
I have plenty of space in my internal and external sd card, i have cleaned the caches, wipe app data etc, fixed permissions in recovery but no luck.
Any other solutions?
I am on Neat rom 4.8 lite. Thanks
Solved
Okay i found the problem, basically i connected my s2 to a tv via usb to play movies, the tv installed a corrupted read only folder on my internal storage, not sd card, which was the culprit, after deleting that folder with the unlocker application on pc sorted the problem out. Thanks everyone for helping.
Backup entire sd card (internal + external) to pc then in cwm format sd card internal+external and restore files back
Send from my SGS2 I9100 with HassanROM and latest DorimanX 8.xx kernel
Before you do anything could you post a screenshot of your settings->storage->Device Memory, I just need to confirm whether it's a bug or something.
Edit:After looking at that we could probably fix the problem.

Hmm so it's some kind of bug, could you open files and create folders and files or basic cut copy paste operations using file management apps in your sd card?
Edit :try both the stock and third party apps.

It may be a bug i am not sure, I can create folders and do cut paste actions. I also just now restored a nandroid backup of previous rom which was working fine, but the problem still persists.
I guess i will have to do a clean install of a rom again from scratch? any other possible precautions to take before i start this process? thanks

Use a nuke script perform a complete wipe data/cache/dalvik, restore rom.
Edit : The precautions are the usual things which you did when you flashed neatrom. You will have to backup everything in a computer though . After the wipe just mount the sd card via recovery and copy your backup back.

It could possibly be the problem, if the device drivers got corrupted due to that usually a reflash could solve the problem, try flashing with several different roms and kernels if this ain't anything at hardware level it should get fixed.

You dont need to flash a new rom.Just boot to recovery,do a factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
