[Q] CWR not letting me update? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to update my phone, but my phone won't let me. My co-worker thinks it's because of the cLockwork recovery that's doing it. How can I get rid of the cwr so I can update my system

Well you didn't give any information on the software on your phone. Why not flash to an updated rom since you're already rooted. Searching and learning helps.

No Custom Recovery...

Your co-worker is right; no custom recovery will allow you to take an update on this phone. At the moment, however, you should not have to take any update.
What does it say on about phone under baseband?

Under reality.
The insane one provided, yet again, lucidity. This pertains to the Galaxy Note 3, which has a Knox fuse, and running custom recovery disables one's ability to take over-the-air or over-the-wire updates.
Your S3 firmware upgrade is not relevant nor is it germane to the question posted.

[Q] Back to stock for the Galaxy 10.1?

Hi, I was hoping someone could direct me to the back to stock file so I can unroot this galaxy tab 10.1 I had a friend root it for me, but I honestly, at least for this tablet have had nothing but problems. I cannot stand the inconsistancies, and lack of camera use. I did a restore to what I thought was stock, but the tab is still rooted and while I have functionality of the camera's back, the pictures are terrible and grainy.
If someone has a link, or anything helpful to get this tablet back to stock/factory settings for I'd love it. I have been currently trying to fix this. I loved this tablet until it got rooted. Please help.

Uninstall superuser.
And use root explorer to remove "SU" file from: /system/bin/SU or /system/xbin/SU
Howndo you uninstall superuser. This whole rooting madness is driving me crazy. Ive yet to see any real benefit to it. At least on my tab.

download & flash ICS 4.0.4 released for italy via odin.
you can google how to get into download mode and flash via odin.
after flashing, go to recovery mode and wip/factory reset -> reboot.
then enjoy the ICS 4.0.4
Or just get the OTA version available now.

I've flashed from rooted ICS to HC 3.2, and then updated back to ICS via OTA with no problems.
Unsure if this thread will even be seen anymore, but I just saw an article for the program triangle away. Since I have flashed this tab several times, I am about to send it into the mfg for repair for the cable charge problem it was having. I'm wondering. Will I need to unroot this tab again, use triangle away and reflahs again? Or is this model exempt from the flash counter?

i don't think there is a flash counter, but i may be wrong. someone nice enough to check?
EDIT:
Actually, yes, yes there is a flash counter. It says
Custom Binary Download: No (0 counts)
I'm looking at my GT-P7510 right now as we speak.
Uh oh, looks like I gotta do a couple things before I send it back then. Thanks!

Anyone know why kies says note is not upgradeable through kies...drivers and everything installed correctly...did the update get pulled

Are you rooted ?
Kies will see a rooted device as having " privileged commands " if you have a custom or altered recovery or boot loader ...
Verify that you are "stock "....before attempting to use Kies for upgrades ...
Otherwise, another method must be used ....like Odin ....g

Verizon Note 2 Rooting

Just a warning to those of you trying other Note 2 root methods on the Verizon Note 2.
If you flash a custom recovery on Note 2, you will get Kies firmware encountered error and break your phone. (which what just happened to me)
It is recoverable however using ODIN Tar: (You can run ODIN in that mode.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892531
It seems clear Verizon has locked the bootloader and so we will have to wait around for a workaround like the Galaxy S3.

So this has nothing to actually do with rooting?
You dont have root, correct?
Maybe this should be in General.

Titanium gray is the color...honestly I like the pebble blue on my gs3 better.

yep, that's the way out. I had exaclty the same issue after trying to use CF-autoroot on stock MJ4 update. FYI after using odin to get TWRP back i also could not flash freeza's MJ4 as I had wiped system, data, davlik and cache also I had to restore a nandroid then factory reset in order to flash MJ4. One bug with freeza's MJ4 is your wifi passwords won't stick. However MI5 works fine with MJ4 firmware and does not have the wifi password issue. Probably more than you wanted to know but that's it in a nutshell.

Thanks for the advice. So after I installed TWRP everything came back online. Currently working on a new rom for this device. Hoping I can bring Bonsai to our SN3...
I was able to use Knox de la vega method to downgrade from MJ4 to MI3. I used odin to flash both the AP file and the CSC file for the sprint MI3 and it worked like a charm but did flip my knox counter

I did but it screwed everything up. The baseband was still MJ4 but the build number was MI3 and I kept getting pen input errors and everything slowed down so much that it was pretty much not usable. I finally took it into another sprint store and was able to get it swapped out with a new one after adding insurance to it. This time I made sure not to upgrade yet to MJ4 to prevent screwing up my phone again. For some reason I was able to use both the MD5 and CSC files for MI3 to flash that in Odin but again it royally screwed it up.

Question about a firmware upgrade that is available. Now I just bought my Note 3 this past Wednesday and immediately got notification of a software update for the firmware. Knowing the issues taking a software update can sometimes cause, I haven't taken it. The phone is MI5. so should I not touch the update or what? I haven't rooted because I haven't had a chance, still figuring out the right steps and what, if anything, may be needed. Help with that would be welcomed as well.

Who said you can't have both?
If you were smart enough, you would have responded with URDLV to patch the ROM and root without KNOX and MobileODIN to further upgrade the ROM without changing the old bootloader (which doesn't have anything to do with bugs)
But no.

Ok, thanks for the input. Just wanted to ask to make sure.

"This is a t0ltecdma"

Just moved over from the S3, so be easy. Learning the ins and outs of the ever-confusing 4.3 update here as well. I just got a 4.1.2 rooted with old CWM (non-touch) Note 2, and every time I try to update to Philz, it claims this is a non-verizon device. It is. The guy before used a T-Mobile sim in, would that make a difference? It is also a stock Verizon rom, so I'm not sure why I am getting this error. Do I need to flash a verizon stock 4.1.2 rom to reset it?
Edit: should I install Philz via Odin, or simply odin back to stock 4.1.2, re-root, and unlock bootloader again?
Edit 2: if anyone can chime in on Philz or not, that would help. I can install any other recovery no problem, so I'm wondering if the file that is uploaded is taking me to the right one? I know AFH is doing server work.

Yep. That's the model. I actually had no issues flashing the latest cwm and twrp at all. Starting to wonder if AFH messed something up.
Yep, I'm aware of all the 4.3 stuff. S3 had the same thing. I made sure this was on 4.1.2 when I bought it and just flashed sophisticated tonight.
