[Q] WIFI cannot turn on at all ! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As above - already did a factory reset and tried different combinations via Odin:
1. stock ICS 4.03 with stock kernel
2. CM10.1 with CM Kernel
3. CM10.1 with Siyah 6.0b5 Kernel - stuck @ black screen
4. CM10.1 with Dorimanx 9.43 kernel - stuck @ Dorimanx splash screen
all also cannot turn on wifi at all to scan for networks (slider greyed out on both stock/CM roms). other than hardware fault, what else can i do?

just wanted to be sure (and prevent from bricking my own s2) -
v8.43 is below this title ➟➟➟ JB MALI V2 + JB SAMMY Kernels List!
I'm currently on JB CM10.1 - wouldn't it be incompatible with my current ROM?

[Q] Home button works only for Recovery menu

Hello,
This week I bought an used SGSII for only 50€ because the home button doesn't work.
I don't think that is is a hardware issue, because I can enter the Recovery menu with VolUp Power and Home.
No Root/Custom Rom. I installed most recent FW via OTA, still doesn't work.
The preowner said that the issue came with an earlier FW Upgrade.
Because the button works for the Recovery menu, I think that this a trivial issue.
Can somebody here help me to fix the button?
I had the same problem....just re flash any stock firmware wth full data wipe and you ll be good to go

now I applied root that I can check /efs/imei/keystr but it's OK.
Can I full wipe without danger? because I read something about a BrickBug
EDIT: I installed eMMC Brick Bug Check via Play and got the message if the Bug occurs: "YES, insane Chip"

Flash a 4.0.3 fw then you will be safe for the brick bug. It's only in 4.0.4 that has the bug.
Or flash a custom kernel then you will be safe for sure.

so, I managed it to downgrade to 4.0.3 and did a factory reset via recovery menu, and then I wiped cache, still not fixing this problem.
That is very odd. Maybe flash dorimanx kernel and see it that fixes the issue.
If not, then I suppose you can flash a rom that has a nav bar.
Edit: but do not flash kernel/rom in stock recovery. Use temp recovery Here http://db.tt/MxD7F6xg BTW it's touch recovery

I tried with installing cyanogenmod 10.1 so I allready had CWM, nothing.
tried with dorimanx kernel, nothing.
So I will go back to the most recent stock rom and make everything with the back button.
If somebody knows another solution he/she can answer here or PM me.
Thanx to everyone who tried to help me.
It would help if you gave info on specifically which S2 you have. What is EXACT model number?
Can you provide pics of device/model details etc? (cover IMEI/Serial).

I made another try with a Low Level Flash (3 files + PIT) of GB Stock Rom without luck.
Are there any things that will not be changed/deleted with such a Low Level flash?
Does ICS allready contain this Onscreen Buttons or do I have to wait for JB(Wanna stay with Stock Rom)?
Try this :
Flash clean Official 4.0.4
Install Siyah Kernel .
you now have root. make an EFS backup * Always to be safe
Recovery- wipe all +dalvik
See if it worked
If not after doing the above steps
boot into recovery and flash a custom ICS rom- Try SLIM ICS *As it will download fast due to small size
On a side note, on your current firmware do you have the lockscreen ?

Yes I have a Lock Screen, I also allready checked the keystr file --> ist's OK
I hav EFS BackUp too.
isn't the dalvik cache automatically wiped within a low level flash?
Im not quite sure if it does get wiped.
I wipe just in case Force of habit
Try a custom ROM and tell us if it worked

I'm slightly confused by the DorimanX page, it says the kernel does not support dual-boot, but further down the page it says it does support dual-boot???
Can anyone confirm actually using dual-boot with this kernel successfully?

Dual boot with Dorimanx is currently not supporting any JB 4.1.2 rom's either Stock or Custom that r using the /Preload partition for now.
Since that partition is needed for installing SecondRom for Dual boot

It's not clear because it says it does work in one part, but in a different part says it doesn't.
I have a feeling it works and the thread hasn't been updated properly, but I just want to make sure.

It would be easier to just use the kernel you're using, which seems to be DorimanX. I was just looking for confirmation that it does work with CM10.1.
So I guess you're saying it does?

CM-10.1 and dorimanx or siyah lose baseband problem .

Install last cm10.1 with siyah or dorimanx will lose baseband? It there a way to fix it or working around it ?

For the moment, these kernels don't work properly with CM10.1
But some users did manage to get baseband : they flashed a specific modem with the matching RIL. try XXLQ6 or JHLPC but result is not guaranteed.
Otherwise, just wait for compatible updated kernel from siyah or dorimanx.

Siyah - Dual Boot - Black Screen?

Not sure if i'm doing something wrong, essentially when i try to dual boot with siyah kernel 5.0.1 i just get black screen, if i boot my stock ICS it's fine, i've tried a few ROM's (all JB) and they all just black screen when trying to boot, turning off and back on and going into primary is fine - am i missing anything obvious?

well if its the early JB 4.1 based rom u can Dual boot using siyah 5.0.1, if its newer than that (4.1.2>4.2.1>4.2.2) then siyah v5.0.1 will not support the same, and u will get black screen on boot

That may be the issue, Its CyanogenMod 10.1 i'm trying which i assume is based on 4.1.2 or earlier, out of curiosity is it just a dualboot scenario that is unsupported. I.E. if i flashed with CM10.1 just on its own with siyah 5.0.1 it would work?

Do remember that CM10.1 isn't fully supported by Siyah v6.0b5 for now and u might face issues.
Better to install CM10.1 and stay with the stock Cm10.1 kernel that comes with it to get better results

Apologies, Won't CM 10.1 just run on top of the siyah kernel? or by flashing to it will it replace the kernel with its own
I'm not ultimately loyal to a kernel, i just want to run jelly bean on my S2

If you are using the Kernel from this Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708763
then I suggest you should use another one, like Perseus or Siyah. The Franco Kernel for I9300 is outdated and doesn`t contain the Sudden Death Fix because the developer stopped supporting the Kernel for the I9300.

Then try to wipe Cache and if that doesn`t help, you can try a factory reset but I would backup all your apps + data, so that you can restore them afterwards. And if that doesn`t help just flash another ROM. There are plenty good ones to choose from here on XDA, that are based on the newest Samsung Firmware base.
BTW the XXELLB base is not the newest one.
